Yeah, PS4's are pretty expensive. It's best to get LBP3 for PS3. When it comes out, I'll get it for PS3 too.

Wow so you can switch between any two of the characters just like Toggle switched between his two forms on the fly! Cool! (Rules might apply, level to level.)

I was literally just watching Gamespot's Day 1 Stage Show and they had on 2 members of SCEE talking about LBP3 and they confirmed on stage that Stephen Fry would be returning.

I get the feeling that this was originally intended to only be a PS3 game but with the holiday line-up on PS4 being a bit empty especially after the order got pushed back it got a quick port to fill out the PS4 holiday releases.2014-06-10 21:05:00

Okay yeah, I thought you meant the player had the ability to choose when to change and what to change to whenever they liked.

Yup, I followed the link to the store, saw the app, logged in and then ended up on an error page. Def not available in Canada Thanks for sharing though! Looking forward to trying out PS Now, glad they confirmed it to be coming to Canada in the conference!

Yup that's all correct. So for example all existing LBP 1 & 2 levels won't suddenly allow you to choose to play as other characters. I do wonder how the switching will work... I'd have to assume it will be linked to a button, maybe trackpad? Although a shoulder or face button would seem more convenient. I'm looking forward to finding out if it's a two character limit, or a Trine style swap between as many as you want, like you say Shamgar...

Traditional water IS an option. They showed a clip where little-Toggle was walking on water but then sank and began to swim as big-T.
2:22 and 4:22 (Little/Big-T) of the video- The water fall also triggers the "splash" animation.
*Another visible power-up, in addition to the torch and blow-drier/air gun thing, is a paint brush.

I'm disappointed the developers ignored the 'floaty controls' question.

The floaty controls are what's holding most PlayStation gamers back from enjoying LBP (a lot have complained before). All of this could've been resolved if it didn't have to be backwards compatible with the 8 million levels.

Really though, do any of you care about playing PS3's levels? I don't. I'd rather have a new game engine that truly pushes gameplay forward instead of clinging to past releases. What is special about playing levels from 2011 when you can play optimized modern levels that will surely be pumped out through LBP3's lifetime? I just don't get it.

I am a little excited about it coming to PS3. I'm happy because it means I won't have to save for a PS4, but it's strange on Sony's part because LBP3 WAS going to be a system seller for me.

They didn't ignore the question, they mention in the gamestop interview that they have tightened the jump controls up to a point where it is not alien for those who enjoy traditional lbp physics and more suitable for those who want greater precision. We have a hybrid jump now which will hopefully please all.

A better answer than at the lbp2 reveal when they said the global gravity tweaker would solve the issue.

Obviously we'll have to wait and see if it actually works out. It might be tied to the new characters.

I kind of agree. I don't think I've ever played an LBP1 level in LBP2 (apart from my own to see how badly the lighting was broken, at which point I quickly made them LBP1 only). As soon as we get our hands on new features and tools, the old levels become almost irrelvant, only living on in memory.

Although I can see why they've done it. Shipping a game that already includes 8.5 million levels is quite a big selling point, certainly more so than "slightly tweaked physics" or whatever. In fact I expect the devs at Sumo probably wanted to move past the restrictions of having to make everything work with the old levels, but the request for backwards compatibility was probably a big thing Sony pushed for.

My bad, I didn't literally mean ignore. But they weren't very optimistic sounding about changing the controls much... Judging from the trailers it's about as tight as LBP Vita.

Oddsock's fast pace though is a welcome change. I've often wished Sackboy can actually run while playing LBP these past 5 years. Looks like that's finally coming true (although in a different physical form)

The colour pink actually existed before Media Molecule, so all pink things are not necessarily Mm employees. The opposite is true however; all Mm employees are definitely 100% pink.

I'm still waiting for the replacement code for the dud bug blaster I got from the lbp2 beta =p

Don't worry about the rewards though cause the biggest reward is knowing that every bug you squash is making the game better for others.

I can't find Steven's tweet about LBP 3 being for the PS3 too. Hopefully he got bad information or misspoke, and deleted the tweet after. Having LBP 3 for the PS3 is a very bad move in my opinion, in many aspects. The developers will have to sacrifice quality and features to make sure that the versions are compatible with each other (LBP 3 on the PS3 able to play LBP on the PS4 levels), and Sony will definitely sell less PS4's because of this. Hopefully the tweet was fake or a mistake - this blog post doesn't mention the PS3 at all:

Looking at the E3 video. It looks like you can create a bunch of 3 layer sections and navigate between them. Either by connecting it with a 3D layer to switch between them or using bounce pads.2014-06-10 23:31:00

I can't find Steven's tweet about LBP 3 being for the PS3 too. Hopefully he got bad information or misspoke, and deleted the tweet after. Having LBP 3 for the PS3 is a very bad move in my opinion, in many aspects. The developers will have to sacrifice quality and features to make sure that the versions are compatible with each other (LBP 3 on the PS3 able to play LBP on the PS4 levels), and Sony will definitely sell less PS4's because of this. Hopefully the tweet was fake or a mistake - this blog post doesn't mention the PS3 at all:

I must have missed it. I am curious how much access the PS3 players would have to the PS4 created levels if this were true. I kinda feared this a little earlier, in that the PS3 would have an inferior version. Of course it isnt confirmed, but the extra layers seem like a huge part of this release and looks fantastic!

@RPG Well Mm always said they limited it to three layers for a reason. If you remember the original demo for lbp had about 6 or 7 but it was scaled back.

Maybe they will pull a Titanfall and get another developer to do the last gen version hence why the info for that comes later?

That does make sense. I was wondering the entire time how the ps3 could handle all the layers, especially with LBP2 being great, but having its share of bugs as it is.

It is odd, but at the same time isn't. At least from Sony's business prospective.

Remember Microsoft's promotion for Titanfall for Xbox One? They hardly acknowledged the 360 version since they wanted all focus and attention to be on their new console. They didn't want gamers to feel satisfied with their last-gen system.

Well I'm sure Sony did the same thing, and asked the developers not to mention a PS3 version unless questioned about it. Plus I guarantee there wouldn't be as many positive reactions from the unveiling, since most people would assume they're getting yet another PS3 port.

That's just my little theory

I think they also mentioned that in creation, you can select what to toggle between. i.e Sackboy and the bird. ..which I think would be cool as heck.

I'm so excited, but I do have to say, I will be bummed if its released on PS3. This is the next generation of consoles, I don't feel like they should be accommodating the previous one at the expense of the quality of the game. Don't get me wrong, I know some people don't have stacks of cash to spend on new consoles, I don't myself. But when I finally buy the PS4, I would hope that these games are as best as they can be with the new hardware and features, rather than having to sacrifice to integrate the previous console. Otherwise, why am I buying a PS4?

Eh, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe PS3 integration won't be at the expense of the game itself, but honestly I don't see how that's possible.

I am indeed wondering if they will adapt the entire back catalog of costumes for the new characters (or maybe more realistically MOST of it). That would make it insanely fun to make all sorts of outfits for the new guys! Speaking of Batman, I'd love to see Oddsock as Batdog xD

EDIT: Actually the more I think of it, this has to be how it works... Since you can toggle between character (say Sackboy and Oddsock) would they not have to be able to wear the same outfits? Maybe not, but it would make sense huh?

The dev talks about how the touchpad is used in create mode to make it more accessible to create for players. So confirmed to be used in create mode. Dev says it can be used in create to navigate, drag objects around, draw geometry. Which should make things a lot faster.

Also says that PS4 allowed for 1080p, so if it's true that it is coming to PS3 as well, expect lesser graphics by comparisson.

From a 4-year old thread from 2010-2011 about LBP3. Some suggestions and guesses were pretty accurate:

Based on the progression from LBP to LBP2 I think its safe to assume that LBP is a franchise Sony will want to keep going and we will see a LBP3 somewhere down the line in the future. What do you think it should be like? A similar progression from LBP2... More tools, enhancements, logic etc wrapped up in a nice bundle with another 50 levels.

Or maybe you think it should do something more drastic? Full 3D, More layers, change the way things work competly?

I'd like:
- Supported 3D, decorative layers
- An option for a 4th playable layer
- Extra level slots. Something like $1.00 for 2 slots DLC. I wouldn't be bothered by that.
- Tweak in the engine allowing you to make objects smaller without loss of detail, if possible.
- Power-ups like a flashlight... or something...
- Customizable color correction
- Pressure switch. One that measures the amount of force exerted on it. More weight = More output signal
- Dynamic materials: Quicksand, etc.
- Auto-save feature when creating levels
- Better Text Search?

That's all I have...

There should be more gameplay possibilities, not necessarily a full free-roaming world that sets apart from 2.5D gameplay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2.5D), but rather a merge of the two, here's my idea - imagine Sackboy/girl roaming through the 2.5D world, perhaps a remake of The Gardens theme, just to give a picture.

-He/she loftily falls down a curvy craft-world hill and manage to reach a stop near the edge of a cliff. Instead of the player having to find a way to navigate over the obstacle set before them, they push into the back layer, where then the whole camera pans to the right, turning into the background, like a camera focused on a square building, turn a 90 degree corner, where as they would still be facing the building. So the camera just shows a new view, and Sackboy/girl begins to move along a new path. If the camera had not changed, it would look like Sackboy/girl would be traveling into the level background.

To exemplify this idea, this is a similar version of traveling into the background, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2BCL8yscvs&feature=player_embedded) not of what was just mentioned, but rather by the character simply appearing in the background. In a form, this may simply be a "layer glitch" put into easy creating use.

-Connector appearances, this is a simple tool, it may even be patched in LBP2! But connectors, like strings, pistons, bolts, sprung bolts, etc. Could have different appearances, strings could be changed to yarn, vine, wires...bolts could be nails, rusted bolts, a rivet, etc...

You would be able to make your own powerups, using some kind of custom powerup tool, you create the powerup object, ( it has to be grabbable ) make it so that it can do what it is supposed to when r1 is pressed, the object would be held by sackboy like the paintinator via a handle that must be included in the object, and then aimable, and when you press r1 it does whatever.

Im hoping it will be full 3d. It needs to be something huge to keep the creators/ players interested. The 2.5d could easily be enhanced by allowing full control over all the axis of movement and rotation and shaping objects on all axis too. Theres so many ideas that the community will come up with, I think mm wont have a hard time progressing the game asmuch as lbp2 has from lbp1 or even further.

I don't want it to change, I like my old LBP copy the way it is, but if a third game were to be released one day, then a couple improvements would be most welcome! I'm not asking for full 3D, it would make it completely different and might ruin LBP, but I'd like a few details to be improved, like the possibility to build things on several axis.
I would make slopes (http://www.leboutte.be/images/catalogue/toiture/panneau-tuile.jpg) in each and every level of mine if I could, but I can't. Shadowriver's idea is excellent too. Making our objects by making them rotate so that they could be used in top-down levels and still look good.

Next step I would see is a creature maker so we have bots that aren't sackboy shaped. You could create a Sack animal with 4 legs, a Sackfish, etc.
It would also be interesting to really expand on the different level styles the community defined. Per example, there would be REAL top view levels (could be an option you chose when you initially create your level. You'd chose if want a side scroller or a top scroller).
The game would also need "from back to front" scrolling. Could also be a level type anyways. Doing REAL afterburner and outrun games. I would pay a high price for this all.

What would I want in LBP3?! Well thats a fantastic question! Might take some thought...

1. The level "ribbon" that Alex Evans mentioned in some video. Basically, you could make it look like your level was not flat all the way across, but rotated as it around a giant cylinder. Cool idea that would add a lot of visual charm.

2. More layers, and the ability to hide layers during PLAY MODE. You could build much more expansive levels if you had, oh say, 15 playable layers, and had the ability to move back in them quickly and hide the ones in front if you so wanted.

3. Customizable characters. Similar to what RangerZero said, but I want a dynamic character creator so I can play as just about anything.

4. I've suggested it before, but a Magic Hilt power up. Basically, the part that sackboy holds is always the same, but you can edit the end of it to make anything you want, i.e. flashlights, swords, wand, shovels etc etc.

5. Even if you don't allow sackboy to play in he z-plane, at least allow us to edit and create in it! Give us the ability to rotate the camera 90 degrees in create mode and build there just as we would normally, and allow jagged shapes that bend in just the z-plane.

Well, thats about it. What people should also keep in mind is the fact that we are most likely to see LBP3 on a next gen system, so the possibilities may be much more profound than we currently expect.

He also mentions being able customise sackboy to use those user created powerups. He says the community will be happy. I'm guessing sword swings and knocking an arrow/bow pull and stuff like that.

Also, people need to keep in mind that some of the most fascinating and impressive work done in LBP2 was the result of an exploit. Not hoping for a buggy game, just reminding people that maybe we will discover things in LBP3 that the developers haven't even discovered themselves!

I think a big part of my opinion is the result of the thermometer in LBP2. I'm assuming thermometer was put in place to keep people from adding too much to the level for the console to handle, and with a faster, more advanced console, I'm hoping that means a larger thermometer, one that doesn't have to keep in mind the restrictions of a PS3.

Also, I'm excited to experiment with the PS4 exclusive features such as the touchpad and the sensor, I don't want to see a large population of players not get the full experience of my level, because they are on a console that does not have these features.

Well, I can share his feelings. Basically the excitment dropped cause we're were hoping this next version had so much packed into it the PS3 couldn't possibly handle its power. Like making LBP2 work with the PS2. LBP psp would be the PS3 version compared to the PS4. That's what I was hoping for, but it seems like they just made LBP3 with better graphics for PS4. Makes me feel like the PS3 version is holding LBP's potential back.

That causes a huge issue though. To limit what is supposed to be the same game for one of the consoles to that degree is wrong. Its supposed to be the same game, and the same experience. If I bought what was supposed to be LBP3 for my PS3 only to find out it was only MOST of LB3, and the rest of it was PS4 exclusive, I'd be pretty mad.

Basically, if they are offering the EXACT same game on two separate consoles, one of which is a generation and several years ahead of the other, then thats an issue, because they clearly aren't using the newer one to its full potential.
Alternatively, if its not the same game, then they should just not bother.

What it all boils down to is that I don't want the PS3 and the PS4 compatibility to be compared to how LBP1 and 2 backwards comparability worked. I'm not saying that it will sever the playerbase entirely, but if it will impose restrictions, like, at all, then its just not something I think should have been done.

Regardless, I'm pretty sure its happening whether I like it or not. I won't lose sleep over it because what I've heard and seen so far is very promising.


PS4 should and will pack a bigger punch, just the way it is and should be. I want a ps4 version that simply over powers the PS3 version due to shear brute force of awesomesauce. I hope the PS3 version is considerably watered down version of the PS4 version while slightly being greater then LBP2. I want LBP3 PS4 to be far above the greatness of LBP2. it took 27 pages for me to finally add my input

And I want all LBP3 players to have the best experience possible. Apparently we stand at opposite ends of the topic.

I know the controllers have the touch feature like the Vita, but I just thought the PS4 as a nice upgrade, not a total redesign of their system.

I didn't know the difference. Being a pc gamer, I am not usually one to look at the innards of consoles and be impressed, but I agree that is quite a bit of difference.

Naaa, that was just how they decided to end the level. I think we can safely say that we'll now be able to end the level any way we want.

Sure, LBP3 doesn't look like as big a jump in creative capability as when LBP2 came out, but I'm most excited over the fact that MM isn't actually making the game. It's not like they wouldn't do a brilliant job with it, but leaving the next logical step in the progression of the LBP franchise to Sumo Digital leaves them open to develop the sort of revolutionary game that LBP1 was without any sort of creative limitations. I think they made the smart choice here: if they assumed responsibility for creating LBP3, they'd be forced to make the difficult choice between making an LBP2.5 by staying exclusively in 2.5D, and jumping awkwardly to a three-dimensional LBP, which wouldn't really mesh as well with the existing community that's been built on 2D levels (I mean realistically, how many plays would old, 2D LBP levels get in a 3D LBP community?).

Anyways, I think this is a win-win for Sony and MM. LBP3 might not fully live up to our lofty expectations, but it should reawaken Playstation's creative community and we'll all hopefully end up with two great games in the process as a result of letting MM unchain their creativity from their past accomplishments (these two games being, of course, LBP3 and whatever MM's semi-secret project turns into).

No, it need more than just new instruments. It needs proper fades between notes and overlapping notes, proper distortion effects, The ability to mutate an instrument into another, the ability to mix instruments or create chords and apply it to ONE note, the ability to add points on the music that mute a line until it's activated by a tag. etc.

No, youre right too. Move only included an instrument pack, and they sounded fantastic,m and there were quite a lot of them, but the music system still needs an overhaul.

Perhaps:
-more effects
-custom time signatures
-the ability to change instrument automatically rather than have to replot every note on a different one
-much larger music thermo
-more production settings eg. equalizers, gradual pan, etc.

The reason I wanted a chipped version was because I had a great idea of how to cut the thermo right down. All you would have to do is use a player tag to turn the dephysicaliser on or off. That would mean that hardly any of the environment would have physics until sackboy was close by.

More Feature Speculation

This video was posted previously in the thread but I want to bring attention to some of the things shown in the video that people haven't seemed to notice or discuss

1) At 2:48 we see Sackboy 'swimming' in mid air. I think this may be a water material that has been tweaked to be invisible or perhaps it is invisible by default. I think that this material can be made to any shape and has no physical collision with characters such that a character can 'enter' the material and upon doing so they behave as though they were in water. This theory complies with another clip at 3:50 where we see two characters swimming before exiting the water material from the side (previously impossible in LBP games) at separate times. Also at 9:44 it looks as though Small Toggle uses some invisible water material (in the narrow rectangular cut-out) to launch himself up, overcoming the obstacle at hand. This suggests that if this water material exists it can be placed on particular layers (unlike water previously behaved where it was across all layers)

2) At 2:53 we see some gameplay showcasing portals which carry the players momentum between linked portals

3) At 5:04 we see a yellow balloon object which can expand and contract. Perhaps we will see other objects, decorations or materials which can be deformed, expanded or compressed.

At 3:17 we see Small Toggle somehow ascending. The scene is decorated to suggest that there is a strong wind pushing him upward. I did speculate that there was invisible water which may be what is used in this clip (as we know Small Toggle float to the surface of water), however, all other clips of Small Toggle using water to catapult himself upward show him being accelerated very quickly and violently. Instead this clip shows him ascending very gently, because of this I believe this not water but instead some kind of wind material which can push characters and possibly even objects that enter it in a particular direction. It may also be tweakable such that the strength of the wind can be made smaller or larger.

On a side note, I'd also like to point out that nobody has really mentioned the additional popit feature. There seem to be 2 new icons in the popit menu, one looks like a large 'U' which I assume is the powerup pocket thing, but the other looks like a very small 'T', it almost looks like a tiny trophy. Anybody have any ideas what it could be??

The only part that excited me for hub was the possible idea that it might make LBP2 playable on PS4 (since at the time there was no word of LBP3). So, to speculate: If there will be a separate pool of LBP3 levels for PS3 and PS4, this seems like unnecessary fragmentation and counter to everything they're trying to do with making LBP3 backwards compatible.

However, if the same levels will all be playable on PS3 and PS4, this is troubling because a) it will impose limits on the PS4 version that wouldn't otherwise be there, and b) as creators, are we going to have to get the PS3 version of the game as well to test our creations and make sure they look and run well?

Personally, neither of these options seem ideal. I think I'd rather this was PS4 only.

It seems the PS4 graphics are taking a big hit as well. After seeing the demos for The Order 1886 and other games using new physically-based renderers, I was a little surprised to see that LBP3 looks exactly like LBP2, but I guess it makes sense now why the visuals haven't been upgraded.

i don't know exactly what these new sack like characters are or exactly how they'll work. but i do like the idea of having new character shapes to work with. however i hope there will be more then the 3 or 4 they shown off so far... because a dog sack, a bird sack, a fat big sack and little fat sack is pretty random and limited choices and since it appears that their powers may just be something that you can preset to any 1 of them when creating a level i hope that means we will be getting a good handful more new sack like people... for example i make mostly female characters in my story driven levels i work on so a sack that has a body shape that supports a female looking body would help me personally a lot even if the sack design is very simple and to get the full effect i'd have to put on costume parts and deco, i just wanna to be able to make something like Eve from LBP2 as a example ya know? anyways just saying i hope there'll be more choices of new sack people then shown at the moment. *mew2014-06-11 08:24:00

I think people are definitely underestimating the differences that these new characters will make. Sure they may have been possible in LBP2 but those ideas took extremely long hours to create and the amount of logic used must have been staggering. These new characters open up so many new gameplay possibilities I've already started thinking about the ways they can be implemented and its making me burst with joy. Especially how now the layers are able to swap seamlessly (Or at least i think they do) so many new gameplay options have opened for both platformer creators and those that like to create different experiences..

I for one am so excited to get my hands on this seeing as i haven't played LBP2 since last summer and my ps3 is all but packed away!!

The thermometer is a estimated reflection of how much RAM the level needs to "occupy" in it's current state, not the size of the level on the HDD/servers. The fact that the lbp engine cannot predict what will happen next within any given level means that all assets(material textures, stickers, decorations, objects, collisions etc.) required within the level must be loaded into RAM when the level first loads.
Now obviously we have found ways around this as it seems emitted objects are not loaded into ram until they are emitted into a level (complicated objects and/or new materials can cause issues when emitted because of this).
however there is another side to this problem, the 256 MB main memory and 256 MB video memory available on PS3 is partly taken up by both the PS3 operating sytem, and the game engine- including the rendering pipe-line that creates what you see on screen at any given time.
When your level is already using too much RAM AND the game is trying render a complex scene (along with calculating physics/logic etc) something has to give, that when you get all the annoying exclamation marks and the "This area of the level is too complex" warning appears.

Now compare the PS3's available RAM to the 8GB's of unified RAM available on PS4, while again some of this RAM is used by the PS4 OS and some used for the game engine for improved rendering, physics etc- you can guarantee there would be way more RAM left on the PS4 version of LBP3 for larger are more complex levels than there is left on PS3.

So IF the ps3 version can play all levels created on the PS4 version then there is no possible explaination other than the PS4 version is being severely held back to make it possible.

I personally believe that if there is indeed a ps3 version coming that it will not be able to access levels created on ps4.

I'm planning on getting a PS3 but i want to be absolutely sure that LBP3 will be on there, exactly like the PS4 version (ofcourse without the graphics but it doesnt matter all that much to me). How about switching between the background and foreground? Wondering what has to be placed between the layers to insure the player doesn't fall between them?

Also it looks like there is an object that blows wind and allows the player to move upward which would make for some neat gameplay.

What if there is a "logic counter" tick box in the menu in create so that it refreshes every frame or every other frame, and is every other frame by default in the grandfathered levels?

This would make logic both more efficient in new levels, but still functional in old ones.

I?m totally ok with the PS3 version being a boat anchor?because at the end of the day it's a better LBP2 that you can play on the PS4 sooner rather than later. I do think the way this was announced at e3 was being deceptive. If someone is currently developing a true next gen play/create/share game for PS4 with full 3d support, procedural trees, etc, great?but at least I?ll have something fun to play before 2015/16 with LBP3.

Not incorporating the LBPV features and bridging the player/sackbot divide are about the only real deal breakers for me. LBPV pretty much ruined LBP2 create mode for me?it was soooo much easier. Not being able to greatly increase the thermo in order to support the PS3 version (assuming levels created on PS4 are playable on PS3?and I think they do need to be) is unfortunate?but I can deal with it.

Also really like the new playable layer transitions, platformers like Oddworld and Rayman do something similar, I think this will be a great addition. I wonder if the layers can overlap such that they can be used for backtracking?and if so can the ?forward? layers become transparent, etc.

If they had instead announced that they were porting LittleBigPlanet 2 to the PS4 and adding lots of new features to the game that amounted to $30-40 of DLC, would you like it then?

Still, I think they should allow the option of making a level PS4-only for the sake of extra thermo.

Most games calculates on per frame basis, doing that in half of frame would not make any sence as you would no see the result, it would be just waste of CPU power, thats why evre was thinking it confirms 30FPS. But because 60 can be devided by 2 to 30, game can still run 60FPS, but logic calculation is being skipped every 2nd frame allowing logic to still work in 30Hz.

But yes that not really importent if you not logic geek like me and evret

LBP logic IS tied to the framerate in LBP2, I know that PS4 could render at 60fps and calculate logic, physics etc every second frame to match ps3 version, but this is not my point.
TBH i couldn't care less about the visual boost on PS4, I'm fine with 30fps too, what myself and and many others were hoping for was an increase to the amount of things you can cram into your level, an increase to the complexity you could add to your level, an increase to the calculations you could throw at the engine, all without causing framerate and complexity issues.

The fact ps4 levels will be playable on ps3 completely squashes those hopes. end of story

StevenI already confirmed all LBP3 levels are playable on both versions:

So it's impossible to use more thermo on the PS4 because then the PS3 wouldn't be able to run the level. It would be nice if they had a level setting to make it PS4-only to increases the thermo. Maybe in a patch?

I wonder how co-create will work with one person on PS3 and other person on PS4 if thermo will be different.

Not to mention this is a great way for someone with a PS4 to use the share feature and livestreaming etc for someone who has the game on the PS3 when joining them!

I think you not getting what HUB suppose to be it suppose to be all in one LBP platform for all LBP content, icluding LBP1 and 2 and most likely 3. LBP1 and LBP2 compatibility was very high, you could play LBP1 DLC levels on LBP2, holding LBP1 story just in LBP1 makes no sence and holding LBP2 story in LBP2 (as LBP3 is backward compatible) would not make sence eiher.

It would perfecly explain why it was annouced first and why it was also made by Sumo that worked on LBP3 in same time, but it seems something gone wrong with HUB..... or it's still coming in few months

My Theory:

They originally planned to use the LBP2 engine for LBPHub but then delayed it so they could use the LBP3 engine for LBPHub. I predict that when LBPHub comes out, it will no longer interact with LBP2 players and instead will be the freemium LBP3.

I'm really not happy with this at all. Every time I look at the footage I keep seeing things that could have been so much better. For a community built around imagination and creativity, I'm astonished at the level of acceptance this version of the game is getting. 1080p and texture resolution is NOT NEXT GEN. It's just current gen with sharper graphics.

And I can see ONCE AGAIN how the debate about next gen is being reduced to framerate and resolution. Stop it. This is the LBP community were people have imaginations ... remember? Next gen is SO much more than that, but NOT with LBP3.

What are you talking about? Both consoles are a huge leap over last gen. This game is just an upressed version of a last gen game. It's NOT next gen ... not in the least. If you look at The Order, Driveclub or Infamous: Second Son and just think 'higher resolution' then I really don't know what to tell you.

I can't even believe I just read that to be honest.

LBPPS4 should be a huge leap over LBP2 on the PS3. We should have real time lighting, real time shadows, real time reflections, incredible AI, astonishing post-processing visual effects, soft body physics, incredible liquid physics, 100 times the complexity in level design, 10 times the thermo size, far better sound/music sampling ... It goes on and on. But instead we get nothing buy a higher resolution.
