NosePick! - arcade shooter
Archive: 15 posts
Hello everybody! Hi Dr Pitcard! yah i'm new here, so greetings from Ireland. This is basically my first REAL level, not just an experiment. If anyone has actually played Warioware Twisted (the mind spinning one for gameboy), its based off one of the bosses. You find yourself at the trigger button of a Righteous Nosepicking-bot. And you have to destroy all the alien noses via picking them out of it. bit like space invaders but with more nosepicking. have fun, and if you get the wario reference... yur a man after my heart | 2009-02-17 00:07:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Cool, I'll have to check this out. My Super Color Shooter (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=8134) is an arcade type shooter too. I'll probably play this tonight or tomorrow. | 2009-02-17 00:31:00 Author: Maraz_Matari Posts: 105 |
I'll definately check yur lvls out man. I had a browse through yur videos. Really liked the sword in the stone one from Seeing red. Simple but hugely effective. | 2009-02-17 01:07:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Okay I played it. I've played WarioWare for the Wii so understand a bit of the reference Here's the low down: +Very cool having it in black and white. +Loved some of the sound effects that you added. +Liked the dialog after you died or beat it, very funny ----------- -Too short I'd add not being able to control the vessel under negative too, but then perhaps it'd be too easy coupled along the fact that it's short. Over all a very cool, level, 5 stared it and a heart from me I can tell alotta effort went into this project and the mechanics were done well. Keep up the good work. I would have tried some of your other levels, but I'm already past my bed time peace!!! | 2009-02-17 04:07:00 Author: Maraz_Matari Posts: 105 |
Ye the reason its so short is that i have the level scrolling down... so it has to only take up half the level height. For me this was the easiest way to do the mechanics. I was thinking though, to have a life bar for the boss and have the boss fight a lot more extensive. actually heres a video of the actual warioware boss stage!! YouTube - WarioWare Twisted: Nose Dive warioware twisted is definitely my favourite, so much random junk you can unlock. like a toy car you can grate on a cheese grater^^ but the wii one i'd say is next in line. anyway, thanks a million for the critique Maraz. I played your super color shooter, really liked the art direction and the comic style sound effects = hearted! | 2009-02-17 17:28:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Ok, I just played this for the first time (go figure... somehow this one got past me). Wow.... I mean.... Wow. Shooting fingers at noses is a lot of fun. I mean, nothing really compares to the real thing - but at that velocity it would hurt in real life. I kind of wish there was a showcase thread for your screaming head level. | 2009-04-05 23:32:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
Haha... Didn't expect someone to dig this thread out! Maybe I should post some photo's up since its back out. Its not really a very polished level as it was my first serious level but I still think its a fun little challenge. So thanks ccubbage! My screaming head level??? thats like the worst piece of random rubbish ever I was just messing around with lights and stuff, potentially could be made into something worthwhile but I was just fooling around | 2009-04-06 00:08:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
But it's got a screaming........head. | 2009-04-06 00:32:00 Author: CCubbage Posts: 4430 |
OMG just saw that video... That was just extremely funny im gonna have to try your level now. EDIT: Played it and i enjoyed the gameplay, that sure put a smile in my face lol. You were right about making it upwards instead of sideways like in the real game. Since if you did it in LBP, gravity would take effect and ruin its mechanics overall 4 stars satisfying. | 2009-04-06 02:25:00 Author: graygoose Posts: 371 |
played this the other night and really thought it was funny! I loved that it's in black and white - I think color might have grossed me out a bit. lol. Alas I did not get the reference at the end but I'm intrigued. Also wanted to mention I love the stickers on your scoreboard. Looked really cool. No criticism except it's short but you've explained why above so I can't really complain. Thanks for sharing it! | 2009-04-07 02:33:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
Yeah, i've played this, it's not bad actually Never really played that wario game, but i saw the commercials showing that game. Nice level man. | 2009-04-07 02:38:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Its one of the first levels I made when I got the game and was still trying to work around the tools and mechanics. I actually made it with a big cog connected to the side of the background, with a set of teeth on a rail all the way down the background. So what you're seeing is just the background moving downwards, and the robot going side to side. If I tried making it now, I probably would have done it completely differently >_> But thanks for checking it out guys, and I'm glad you had fun. Also I recommend any of the Warioware games. They have spawned the most hilarious multiplayer moments in gaming history. | 2009-04-07 16:23:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
I enjoyed the level quite a bit... Got hearts from me... I agree with Maraz... Short, and no control... The no control thing isn't too bad... I wish there was more though... | 2009-04-07 16:28:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
Ye I couldn't do it any longer when I was making it...... I wasn't very experienced with the tools and since I had the background moving down, it meant the background was only have the height of the level. I could have spawned infinite sections of background, or just simply had the player move upwards... but couldn't think of an easy way to do it back then. I thought there wasn't a way of having long pistons. Thanks for playing dobi! I'm glad you all liked it. | 2009-04-09 17:25:00 Author: Pitcard Posts: 779 |
Maybe you will make a 2.0 version of the level - haha. | 2009-04-09 17:46:00 Author: dobi6 Posts: 359 |
