How do people even make levels in this game?!?

Archive: 10 posts

Hey there LBPCer's! SO I've finally gotten back into LBPV after getting rid of my ps3 and losing LBP2 (a sad moment in my life) and have started creating a level. Well just like the last two times I've tried creating a level on this darn game, the level decides to randomly corrupt and won't permit me to edit, play, publish, copy, etc etc. Is this like a common thing because its truly irritated when you pour hours into stuff only to lose it (multiple times now). I do have like a version saved that is published but its still a ways back in terms of progress. Just wondering since I haven't played in a while if there's someway to fix this or prevent it in the future. When I attempt to enter I'm just prompted with a message that just says "Failed to load level." This does happen sometimes when I am loading levels online to play but a simple reboot and I can usually get in. Not the case with my creations. Anyway if anyone has figured something out I would be forever in your debt =D.

Thanks!

You make levels using the editor

I've never had major problems with corruption though. It's nearly non-existant in LBPV. You should try loading it again after a while, if you were connected to the LBPV servers whilst loading it the first time, you should try going in Flight Mode whilst loading (might help, idk) and vice versa. If you're really desperate about having your levels corrupt, you could always sublevel it and publish it to your moon as a backup.

Hello Stryder! Sorry to hear about your problem. I don't think it's possible to restore data from a corrupted level. I'm afraid you will have to start everything all over again.

My advice:
- Whenever you see the loading icon on the screen, don't touch anything until it disappears.
- Save your levels more frequently. If you save a level after doing a bunch of changes, the system might get problems with processing data and there is a chance the level will corrupt.
- Make backups on your moon. You should have at least 3 copies of your level placed around the original. Do this only with the level you are currently working on to prevent your moon from the mess.
- Make online backups more often. Do it every time you're done working on your level, before you quit the game.

Sorry that you've had so many issues!

I wonder if you have a bad memory card... I never had any issues with mine when I was creating on the Vita.

I haven't had any corruption issues. Freezimg, touch controls failing, etc, but the level itself is still intact.

I'm with schark, the best way is to prevent it with backups and the like. I usually also keep one copy be of a slightly older version of the level.

..and it doesn't hurt to publish a locked copy out as a backup. I always did that on the PS3.2014-06-01 17:37:00

Alright then! Thanks everyone! Probably due to the fact I cram so many visuals into such a tight space (got that optimization warning message a couple times) that I probably like quit the level while its loading or something. You'd think after having so many corrupt I would learn to save more often, but I always forget when I get on a roll creating haha. At least this time its not back to square one, but hopefully I won't have any problems as I try to finish it.

Thanks!

Well.. something I do is not to create IN THE LEVEL. Create your bits and bobs in a workshop or two. Then when done, capture and plop them in, then move into position. It also helps making everything more modular. ...and you can even make copies on your moon of your level in progress and version those so you have something to go back to in case of issues.2014-06-01 18:02:00

This happened to me once, thankfully there wasn't too much work done to it. Now, every time I make progress on a level I always lock it and publish it to my earth, that way if anything happens I and only I can retrieve it without losing much at all.2014-06-03 03:07:00

I have also been an unfortunate victim of this glitch as previous people have stated, backup your levels on your Earth!2014-06-03 05:04:00
