Constructive Criticism Wanted - Big World Little People

Archive: 12 posts

Hello All,

I have finally gotten 100% of the prize bubbles, and my Play trophy. Now that all of that is out of the way, let's get down to business.

I have published a couple small levels that I used to learn and practice. Recently (last night). I started work on a "real" level. Now, I wouldn't call it finished, but that's where you come in. The idea is there, and I would like to work with it.

The level I'm speaking of is called BIG WORLD LITTLE PEOPLE. Please if you can, play my level, comment, and leave your thoughts and constructive criticisms, so that I can improve the level and bring it to the standards that you all expect and enjoy. If you like what you see so far, please feel free to Heart me and the level (I would love it, and it can help me get my last 2 trophies).

The current version of the level is 1.0, and I will be upgrading and republishing with future versions as I take heed of your ideas and thoughts. Once the level is 100% complete to player standards I will take the knowledge I gain and continue to build more levels in the series.

Thank you in advance, and I look forward to what you have to say... and your hearts! hehe

RHYN0X (spelled with a zero, not an "oh" )

PS - Feel free to add me... use the name above (remember to use a zero not an "oh" ).

Put tiles on the wall. The beginning looks really promising. I ended my sackboy's life while at the livewire part. Because some of it is electrifying although it does not appear blue.2009-02-16 06:18:00

I like the concept, work on it. Work hard on the background and design of the level.2009-02-16 06:19:00

Thank you for your input.

I couldn't agree more that I need a background, but for some reason none of the patterns available are any good. I have a great idea for making tile though... Keep an eye out for my next version.

I have also been very unhappy with my "drop off the counter". It just loses something after that.

I was thinking of making the level purely scenic, getting rid of the live wires and burning... well burners.

Okay, its a bit short, not very challenging, but an interesting concept...
However, the part Uzman mentioned is indeed a bit difficult. The electronic plates sink into the fabric and are only partially visible.
Also, when deadly obstacles are present at an even ground, the player gets far lesser berth for jumping, thus making that sort of obstacles rather difficult. Challenging jumps can be good, but a thing to remember is pacing.
Your level for the first part features rather easy stunts, throwing in very suddenly three consecutive jumps of a much harder difficulty.

So in a nutshell: Try and see if you can make it a bit longer, more challenging but at the same time, pace it better.

E for effort

Kill that thought right now!
Scenic levels are boring What's the fun in running past a few sculptures of creaters showing off when all you want to do is play?

I disagree... Scenic levels can be great as long there is a massive amount of effort put into it. Some "Theme Park" levels where all you do is go on rides can be pretty sweet.

Really? o_0
I think it takes the fun away from the game...
If I wanted that kinda experience I'd watch a film xD I was it to be interactive personally

/sigh of relief

A working PC again.

Thanks for the input guys, I have some new thoughts and ideas for the level that should make it a lot better. In the interim, I have removed the level while I rework it.
