Archive: 19 posts

i need help from someone who can tell me how musical notes are in the game. I have the chords but i can't really determine which pitch in the sound object is G or A or C. Please help.2009-02-15 09:36:00

How sad, not ONE person can help this guy out? If we don't help out our new members then they won't have the motivation to stay here.

Anyways, I can help.

When you are choosing a pitch, the lowest note is a c, the next is a c#, then a d, and so on. The pitch in the very center is also a c, and the very top pitch is a c as well.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

EDIT- You actually call any pitch on the scale a c, as long as you get the intervals right. However, I use the method above because it's very easy.

Thanks a lot! I play drums and play a bit of the bass guitar. I thought the first is a D. And i forgot to include the #'s when going up, thanks a lot.

EDIT- Wait, i know you! Your the guy who made the sonic bg music for Green Hill Zone!

Haha, I'm more well known for my Starfox music.

But honestly, you can call the first note anything you want. G, B, A, D, C,.... it doesn't matter as long as the intervals are correct. If you like using the first note as D then by all means stick to what's comfortable to you. I use C for most of my stuff because it's easy for me.

I think that's because theres not so many who know the answer to the question , at least i personally had no clue (but i still don't, even after your explanation so maybe that doesn't mean anything (I'm very bad at notes etc :blush))

Did you say you played bass? I have recreated 'Stairway To Heaven' in LBP, the way I made that was with the help of my guitar tuner. If you have a tuner, set it to 'chromatic', find out the actual note played in the song, then use the tuner to tell you what the note is in LBP. Obviously playing guitar helps a lot, I think all music levels are created by someone who either plays guitar or piano. I play both so it wasnt that hard for me ^^2009-02-16 22:04:00

i actually use tabs from ultimate-guitar.com to make music. and i dont think im gonna finish it with the thermometer they give us. i had the intro done and it's already 1/4 down on the meter. If you want to try the level and give me tips and stuff... I'd love participation.

Ah, tabs aren't as good as sheet music! Learn sheet music dude! Then you can convert midi files into sheet music and recreate almost every song! It will benefit you in real life too.

If you want, I can check out your level later on and help you. I'll be on LBP at night sometime, just send me a friend request.

Sugar, We're Going Down by Fall Out Boy.

I'm not sure if that's your cup of tea, though.

I'm trying to learn read drum sheet music, but I'm just busy at work. And learning actual sheet music (guitar, piano) is going to be harder.

I know using tabs is sort of ghetto, but it's easy.

If I'm lucky, I might crossrate from a Corpsman to a Navy Musician. THEN, I can master reading music.:hero:

EDIT - your friends list is full...

I have a music level in the works but its not as easy as I thought it would be. I have a good ear so notes arent the problem, its the spacing. I tried using an uninterrupted wall the length of the level to put my notes on, utilizing the grid to space out the notes uniformly. After I finished the first part of the melody to the song, I ended up having some notes juuuuust a bit out of place in the timing.... I mean nanoseconds, but noticible. I have seen others with a box for each note, which seems like a good way to insure perfect timing. I know the size of the box matters and after you have done enough of this I am sure that 4/4 or 3/4 time with 1/4, 8th, and 16th notes just become a pattern that you learn as far as how to space your 'boxes'. I would love to have you guys weigh in on this train of thought if it is making any sense to you. Please forgive me, I am not trying to hijack the thread. I just haven't seen many threads covering this subject. Thanks guys.2009-02-18 08:49:00
