E3 2014

Archive: 79 posts

This may seem a bit early, but I feel that a thread for this needs to be made. So, for the time being I guess just discuss about expectations, or put in any news announced about it, or something related to E3 2014. Well, bye for now!2014-05-25 01:23:00

Hope for some good PS4 games.

Would also like them to announce a pack in title or some deal for the PS4, but I doubt it.

Should be an interesting year. Despite all the bad reputation E3 may get, last year's conference was pretty good, all things considered. Microsoft went back on a lot of their glaring issues with the XB1 and showed off some new games. Sony sent the PS3 off in great style, revealed a few new games, and had that great moment with the PS4. Meanwhile Nintendo played it safe but we still got more footage of X and Bayonetta 2, plus while the initial SM3DW/DKC:TF trailers weren't that great, both Smash and Mario Kart 8 had me interested.

With all the announcements popping up before E3 (e.g. Far Cry 4/Halo 5 reveals, plus new info/footage for Arkham Knight, The Order: 1886, Evolve, and Hyrule Warriors), I hope there's still plenty to show off come June 9th/10th, and that these news bits weren't simply meant to just hype up an otherwise dissappointing set of conferences. Uncharted PS4 and MM's new project seem to be all but confirmed to show up at E3, which even by themselves should help make Sony's presence at E3 an interesting one.

I'm not really counting on anything special from EA or Ubisoft this year though. Especially given my lack of interest in the AC series, and the fact that Ubisoft thought that bringing Aisha Tyler back on stage was a good idea.

I'm probably most excited for the new stuff we'll hear/see on Star Wars Battlefront, it's been confirmed that we will and it's really very exciting. I absolutely loved the first two on PS2 so I have huge hopes for the new one2014-05-25 19:30:00

I hope there going to be at-least 10 new PS4 games we'll be getting. I'm also hoping we might get more information on Uncharted, Star Wars: Battlefront, Far Cry 4, Mirror Edge 2, and (My Favorite) Shadow of the Beast. We might also get some info for Mm New Game, I hope they still have the creative sprint.

Yay, Can't wait more longer!!!

I'm expecting information on Mirror's Edge 2 and Far Cry 4.

Probably both going to be there... Though it probably wn't be Mirror's Edge 2, being a reboot and all.

Anyway, if anyone has Steam and wants to join the Turtle Crew, we do live commentary while watching the E3 conferences. Really fun to talk to other people in real time as we watch them. So yeah, if you have Steam and can access group chat (you need to own a game to do so), then chatting in the chat is fun. Especially during E3. I'm mostly looking forward to the live commentary, actually.

Looking forward to this year as always - but always disappointed at how the timing of Sony's conferences work out in the UK - usually involves me staying up way past my old-persons-bedtime on a worknight to watch. Wonder if I can get away with it this year...

Hoping for lots and lots of PS4 announcements, don't really mind what they are even, just excited to hear

Anyone think that R&C Collection Vita will appear for maybe a couple minutes in E3? I mean, it's official now. http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/05/29/ratchet-clank-hd-trilogy-hits-ps-vita-july/
Don't worry if you think this could end up like Jak on vita because it is being ported by the same people, they know their mistake and this quote pretty much means they know about Jak on vita. "We’re really excited by how well the PS Vita port of the HD Trilogy has turned out. It looks amazing and is a terrific way to play the classic Ratchet & Clank adventures."

Oh please, Sony, don't waste any time talking about a port of a collection of ports of ten year old games. Please, for the love of almonds.

Hoping for more footage/details on 'X' during Nintendo's digital event. Aside from that, expanding the Virtual Console and revealing more wow-like games, (including some new IPs) would be appreciated. More partnerships with Tecmo Koei and Bandai Namco to come?

Also, more news for Rime and The Last Guardian for Sony's conference would be cool. Dream and Uncharted PS4 seem like a shoe-in, so I'm not too worried about the chances of those two both popping up.

EDIT: Aand Dream's not showing up. Well darn. x)

Nope, they already tweeted it's their F2P game.

Anyone else sad that there is only two Sony games, one of which is digital and one of which is apparently cross platform?

Also, no FF15 or KH3? >_<

Yeah, too bad news has been so small. Nintendo isn't exactly the best at keeping up with most of their non-first-party titles. There was a financial briefing recently though that suggested a release outside of Japan for later this year, so that would be great if true.

I'm ready for more Metal Gear. Phantom Pain will fill in a big "gap" in the series storyline. We'll probably fight Solid Snake at some point. Other than that I was hoping for a first real presentation of MM's new game. And Zelda. And Witcher 3. That's about it.2014-06-05 18:49:00

E3 2014 is almost upon us! Continuing our annual tradition, PlayStation will livestream the full PlayStation E3 2014 Press Conference on Monday, June 9th at 6:00pm Pacific / 9:00pm Eastern, beginning with a quick pre-show 15 minutes prior. E3 is just about 70 hours away from now...

So who wants to take bets if there will be LBP news at E3 or not? I bet there will be but that it'll just be more news on LBPHub.

MM said they weren't gonna be at E3, and usually they aren't there much anyway. I'd wait for Gamescom to expect an announcement from them.2014-06-08 08:43:00

If thats a reply to me then MM doesn't work on LBP anymore, so
MM not being there doesn't mean anything 1 way or the other with LBP. It'd be Sumo and Sony in general.

I'm very excited, and very much hoping there's something in the Sony Presentation that gets this reaction out of me.

I guess one of the biggest announcement for Xbone was the Halo collection. It was funny when they said 10 year old Halo games would run at 1080p/60fps, well duh.

Dragon Age has gone full Demon's Souls and the new Fable has gone tower defense. They showed Project Spark but there was only a slither of actual gameplay.

I'm not sure what they were thinking ending the Witcher 3 with a quick time event/cutscene kill when those are universally hated. Hopefully that was just to wrap up their presentation.

Also, unlike last year there were no crashes during the gameplay segments which is a positive. The focus was purely on games, so they learned their lesson from last year.

Yeah, they kept mentioning DLC as they introduced each game which was lame. EA is up next so I'm ready for the yearly dose of BATTLEFIELD, SPORTS and DRM.

The Sony conference started strong with LBP3 and Bloodborne but it all started to unravel when they started talking about "social gaming", movies and comics for so long. It's almost like Sony and Microsoft swapped places.

Seeing no Last Guardian, Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy was disappointing. Instead we got another Uncharted.

LBP3 and R&C PS4 were probably the 2 most exciting things about e3 so far for me. Uncharted seemed cool too and I'll say that I can't wait to see how they all look like in the end (Even though we didn't really see any R&C gameplay yet). It will be nice playing these games in a better resolution with the hdmi cable rather than using the video outputs.

However I didn't feel excited about LBP3 as much as when I first heard about LBP2 or LBPVita. That's just me though. As for R&C, a re-imagined game of the first game from the franchise seems like it would be really neat and just knowing that both insomniacs are working together on this one brings up more hype for me. I think Uncharted coming to the PS4 was awesome and can't wait to hear more about this game.

Some Nintendo stuff leaked.

In one of the games, which Miyamoto called Project Giant Robot, players control sky-scraping automatons, angling the Wii U GamePad in front of a TV screen while shifting their torsos left and right or up and down to maneuver the robot’s upper-body while thumbing the controller’s joysticks to punch or grab — almost like a full-body game of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. The GamePad shows you what the robot sees, while the TV screen offers a zoomed-back view, letting onlookers — as well as you — admire your tromping, pummeling handiwork.

In another, titled Project Guard, the GamePad became a quick-jump map of a fortress manned by numbered, laser-firing security cameras. As robots encroach on different entry points, you have to tap the GamePad to leap from camera to camera, blasting enemies that trundle or come at you sprinting — even some that sneak under your radar. All the while, onlookers can shout out the numbers that correspond to robot-threatened camera feeds, turning your defense operations into a frenetic, heart-racing, tap-and-fire scramble.

And the third project? A game Nintendo fans have been waiting for a very long time to see: Star Fox is back, only reimagined on the Wii U using Miyamoto’s new GamePad-based controls — controls that’ll ask of players things they’ve never had to do before in a video game. Whether they’ll come willing or balk remains to be seen, but Miyamoto is convinced he’s on to a control scheme that’s not only novel, but with practice, indispensable.

In his new version of Star Fox — still fundamentally a spaceship-based shooter — players now use the GamePad’s motion controls to aim and fire the Arwing’s weapons, simultaneously controlling the nimble craft itself by thumbing the joysticks to accelerate or turn and pull off signature moves like barrel rolls, loops and the tactically essential Immelman turn. And you can still morph your Arwing into a land tank, rocketing down to the surface of a planet, then rattling around the battlefield and laying waste to the landscape.

Amiibo looks like a nasty gimmick, we've all seen this kinda thing before.

Open world Zelda looked amazing, just goes to show art direction trumps graphical power. Also, we saw a little more of X which I wanted to see.

Splatoon/Squid Fortress actually looked fun, although I get the feeling the player base might be too small to sustain it online.

I liked the Nintendo Direct, though it was kinda shorter than I thought. I'm glad that we got a release date for Smash Bros. on 3DS (Oct. 3) and more details on X, or excuse me, Xenoblade Chronicles X. I found it funny how they tried to cover up Star Fox in the Nintendo Direct, but you could clearly see the Arwing, but whatever.2014-06-10 18:03:00

That was.... Beautiful... (Will input happy pic here later)

Nintendo easily won E3 for me personally. They totally make my type of games far more often and better then Sony or Microsoft are doing lately. Nintendo are doing fun whimsical character driven games that are not lame FPS or whatever dull games the other companies only seem to care about lately.

Zelda was the best part. The 2015 Zelda looked and sounded epic beyond words.

The war Zelda spinoff game i need extremely badly for 1 reason and 1 reason alone.... MIDNAAAAAAAAAA! I love and adore you Midna! <3

Yoshi Yarn looked really cute and fun.

The new Pokemon games still look awesome.

Everything else at the Nintendo show looked great too.

I do not whatsoever regret buying a Wii U... Even if i don't manage to get a PS4 this year... I won't feel to bad knowing some of the lovely games coming to Wii U soon. Am so happy right now~ *mew

I saw both Sony Press Conference and Nintendo Digital Event and both have amazing lineup of upcoming games and events. Here are my favorites:

SONY:
-Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: Looking forward to play the fourth installment of Naughty Dog's great franchise.

-Ratchet and Clank PS4: It's back to the beginning but with an upcoming movie twist. Well...that's what I heard during the conference.

-Batman Arkham Knight: The gameplay looks great, especially the Batmobile ride.

-The Last of Us Remastered: I already owned the PS3 version, but playing it again in PS4 rendered version will be much more awesome.

-And best of all...LittleBigPlanet 3! Gotta start making plans for LBP3 project.

NINTENDO:

-Super Smash Bros. Wii-U/3DS: The Mii fighters are a big surprise of the SSB moment (and a fight between Iwata and Fils-aime is hilarious). And the Goddess of Light from the "Kid Icarus" franchise joins the fight in a cool anime footage at the end of the digital event. The Amiibo should help Nintendo as well.

-Zelda Wii-U: The first look at the long-awaiting open world "Zelda" looks great. It has an awesome cel-shaded style.

-Hyrule Warriors: Playing as a variety of "Zelda" Characters is going to be epic!

-Splatoon:

https://i.imgur.com/CMUCYe9.jpg
Yeah... same reaction . The transformation between a human and a squid and the use of the color splats looks like the game is going to be a lot of fun.

-Super Mario Maker: Creating a player's own "Super Mario Bros." level is going be fun. And did I see something from "Mario Paint"?

-Starfox Wii U: The editors of the Digital Event should have make the hidden footage even blurrier, lol, but at least it's already confirmed it is in works.

And there's so much more to list on both Sony and Nintendo. Lots of good stuff.

Lots of good stuff out of Nintendo today, and definitely restored the momentum for the Wii U. Looking forward to the games that are coming out for it in the coming months.

Definitely getting Bayo 1+2 and Smash... if I can afford it, Hyrule Warriors too.

This E3 convinced me I don't need a ps4 yet.

The only reason I really have to get one ASAP is for an indie RPG called Soul Saga, and I already got that on Steam. I might as well play it on Steam and then rebuy it on PS4 whenever I get one. ... Assuming the PS4 version has a platinum, of course.

Anyway, so I don't need a PS4. But I already ordered one and two games. Sucks.

So, I looked it up... and I'd actually make a profit if I trade it in to gamestop (got it for really cheap). So, I probably will just sell it right away and buy some PS3 games or something.

Yay, how anticlimactic! XD
