[X] Levels published shown in profile

Hi, I've been thinking of an idea lately for LBPC : [Number here] levels Published by this user. -The number will only go up when they post in the Level Showcase -It can have a link to a list of their threads, with the ability to rate them -If the user reaches 20 "forum hearts", he will get an XP boost and +rep -User can "heart" others threads (levels) PIC http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/littlebiggallery/images/1728/large/1_LBPCIIDEA.JPG Cons? -Probably not possible, but if it is possible = hard work for admins? it'd be something neat, but hard to make I think if anything is unclear, ask away! EDIT:clearly I forgot to change the "album" to "levels", but meh, ignore it | 2009-02-13 18:42:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
The idea is great! But perhaps, as you said, a hard work to do | 2009-02-13 18:46:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
another pro is that you don't need to search the level showcase to find some authors levels, or good levels, just go to their profile! | 2009-02-13 19:22:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
yeah i think it's a great idea | 2009-02-13 19:37:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
Not a bad idea, but playing devil's advocate... I could see this possibly being abused by people making levels just for the sake getting XP or Rep. Then we all run the risk of more low-grade levels on the servers to fish through to find the stand-out ones. Personally I wouldn't care as I don't even pay attention to that XP or Rep stuff, but I'm guessing some people pay attention to it and take it more seriously. Just a thought. | 2009-02-13 20:42:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

You only get rep if people heart your level more then 20 times (20 people) And maybe there could be an IP blocker to stop people from making duplicate accounts, but I don't think people are THAT pathetic to make 20 accounts just for rep | 2009-02-13 20:44:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
but I don't think people are THAT pathetic to make 20 accounts just for rep You'd be surprised. In all seriousness, though; this idea is great. It's like implementing the in-game system of LBP into LBPC. Not much else I can say about it. | 2009-02-13 21:08:00 Author: Comatoes Posts: 76 |
It's a really good, clearly popular idea. But is it possible? We await a mod/admin/wiseman to tell us | 2009-02-13 21:17:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
It's not a bad idea but it requires a ton of code, which I don't understand enough to even know where to start. I'll look into some way to implement it, but I can't promise anything. | 2009-02-13 22:08:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Lol... You do your thing like you're always doing it I really don't understand all this programming 'n site making stuff, or something. | 2009-02-13 22:47:00 Author: Yarbone Posts: 3036 |
could start off with the karma mod...tweak it around some and get it working that way. i'll mess with it this weekend see if it'll work | 2009-02-14 01:48:00 Author: EvilTikiGod Posts: 159 |
It is a good idea if it is just for showing levels but going by past experience it will just become another way to abuse Rep and XP if there is anyway to gain it by having users heart your level. My .02 cents Cheers QuozL | 2009-02-14 01:51:00 Author: QuozL Posts: 921 |
Yeah I agree with QuozL, if you guys do find away to do this, leave the XP and Rep out of it. Too many people can abuse it, it'll still serve it's purpose, but without causing possible problems. | 2009-02-14 02:04:00 Author: Whalio Cappuccino Posts: 5250 |

If we happen to implement this, I plan on leaving that out of the equation. No worries there. I'll talk to Tiki and see what we can come up with. | 2009-02-14 02:23:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Hm, if you look it that way, leaving out the xp and rep is ok. | 2009-02-14 08:29:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
I must avouat, i don't really understand what is the problem here with xp and rep??? Is it taboo? lol | 2009-02-15 19:42:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
I must avouat, i don't really understand what is the problem here with xp and rep??? Is it taboo? lol It would be abused eventually. | 2009-02-15 21:29:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
What's the progress CC? Is it even possible? | 2009-02-15 21:42:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
What's the progress CC? Is it even possible? I spent the past hour or so looking through addons on vbulletin.org that might help, but I haven't been able to find anything. I'll do a little more looking, but I can't give a solid answer right now. | 2009-02-15 22:40:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
It would be abused eventually. Ok, but there is already thousand of manners to abuse rep... I mean, some have already been banned for such things... I don't think it is good to say irremediably "NO" (to all that concern rep and XP or other), just because "some could abuse...". I don't think it is a good way for people to become responsible... And nevertheless, is it a big problem if somebody abuse rep? It seems that you give money for the rep here, lol | 2009-02-16 06:47:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
Well, the way I see the rep abusing / XP giving potential of this idea, all that would be happening essentially is that a list of threads that a person has put in the level and object showcases appears on their statistics page so people can find them easier. I can see how such a listing would be helpful, as it would allow people to check out older levels from authors they like, and have a look at the feedback and detailed description before checking it out in LBP. Why we would need extra stuff like reputation or experience for such a listing, however, I don't quite understand. People can already give positive reputation and thanks within those threads anyway, so it would kind of be doubling up anyway. Reputation and experience abuse is quite a problem, and as Takelow has said, people have been banned from this site in the past because of such abuse. I believe the theory is to try and cut down and avoid potential for such abuse. Some people just crave power and attention corruptly, and though it can spoil good things for good people, we don't really need to be feeding such problems. Anyway, as I said, it sounds like a double up of already existing functions. That's my take on the subject. | 2009-02-16 07:07:00 Author: Elbee23 Posts: 1280 |
Don't get me wrong: i am really interested by the list of level, but i personnaly totally don't care about XP and rep it could give. It was just a more general questions | 2009-02-16 07:59:00 Author: Takelow Posts: 1355 |
Eh, you can always pump up to 100 hearts for a SMALL xp boost, how can that be abused? People aren't that pathetic here.... | 2009-02-16 18:05:00 Author: oldage Posts: 2824 |
