The Master Hand

Archive: 18 posts

NOTE: This level is very old (About 5 months old), but feel free to give it a play and some words of adivce, even though i dont plan on editing it any further.

The boss, simple enough by the title, is Master Hand from SSB. Its a showdown to the last life.

Features:

-Multiple attacks, although not all of Master Hand dazzling moves are included.

-A resembling Master Hand, with most "twitchs" included.

-NEW! A difficulty changer. If you found him too easy you can increase the difficulty!Choose from 5 levels: Easy, Medium, Hard, Insane, and You Wont Pass!

Cons:

-Attack pattern is repeated. After a few mintues of fighting this guy, and you'll know his exact movements.

I really like this boss.. but SUPER tricky... I never died that much fighting him in SSB. Umm wasnt that bad once I figured out his pattern, but still I played 6 times and never killed him. Umm really good job on him though..

Two sugestions I have are 1. make sure the fist's piston doesnt get short enough to reach the black platform.. He never did at first, so I was under the impression, run and gun when hes hovering there shooting plasma, run to the black plaform when he does the hand fly thing and the fist punch, but then the fist killed me twice in a row..

Another sugestion is to get rid of the plasma that shoots across the floor. The boss is hard enough without having to deal with random plasma trying to kill you. If these werent here I could probably have beaten it though.. other than that very good work.

I gave you all the stars I could, cant believe its only rated at 3... but alot of people do that when they cant finish a level. anyway good luck. thanks for the level.

and if you wanna give me some feedback on mine, the links in my sig.

Ok ill get you the feedback, and ill remove those plasma balls...it just that it seems so much easier when you remove them. I can be him without dying without those plasma balls, buts thats probably because ive been testing him for the past 2 weeks.

The fist isnt suppose the reach the black platform, thats a safe point...and its okay to have it like that because the master hand that your suppose to kill is on the opposite side of the map so you cant just hide there and easily beat the level.

I think it's an awesome boss, and it is a very good LBP cover of the SSBB boss.

There's not much to say tbh, it's a very short level, the design of the hand is good, the look of the level itself represents the battle well.

The only gripe I have is that it's way too predictable, and after one or two deaths I got the pattern down well. Possibly if you feel up to the challenge have 3 stages where you fight an easy, medium, and hard version of the hand, instead of just one fight?

I dunno, bosses are difficult to make, you did a good job on this one

I guess that could be possible with a speed switch hooked up to that "emitter on the floor" which Madafaku recommened i remove. (Even though i removed it, ill add it back) and you could adjust it to your preference, from "off" to "impossible"

Also which level you want F4F. i see a few in your sig. Any preference?

Hm. The stage and boss look realy great. But the fist attack lacks some randomness. Perhaps let it fly left and right over the stage and then attack. Like the first boss of the collector. Would be much more like SSB and not so unspeakable easy to avoid.2009-02-13 23:35:00

Take your pick though really it's the Islands on that's F4F. PM me if you ever make adjustments. I'd like to play it again on a higher difficulty :kz:

Due to unforseen techinical errors with my boss this wont be possible.

But my new speed difficulty switch should easily make up for it in difficulty.

Since I?m a huge SSB nut, I just had to try this out.

While you didn?t give Master Hand all of his attacks from the game(s), 3 of them were sufficient, I guess. Visually, the level didn?t disappoint in the slightest ? Master Hand looked incredibly, complete with the fingers that felt very alive, and I really like the way you did Final Destionation. You should try to do something about the elevator in the beginning though ? I know you warned about it bumping into the wall in your opening post, but an even better idea would be fixing the problem ^^

The fight itself as a bit dull though. I recommend not removing the plasma balls that move across the floor, as the difficulty they add is needed, even though they aren?t really an attack Master Hand uses. What I don't really like is the fact that the left side leaves you completely safe from all harm ? I know that you can?t just camp there throughout the whole boss battle, but this way it becomes a very formulaic fight of running to the left, waiting out the two attacks, then running right to shoot Master Hand, running left again, and so on.

The level isn?t really long, so there isn?t much more to say ? It's a very nice recreation of a classic SSB boss, and while it could use some work, it's faithful and enjoyable =D

I?d appreciate it if you took some time to check out my level as well, called ?Timeless Village?. There?s an F4F thread for it as well, and I hope you like puzzlers ^^

Ok ive added a difficulty changer. This allows people to pick the appropriate difficulty that suits them. Plus it adds replay value!2009-02-15 00:50:00

I gave this a try the other day and thought it was pretty good. I wondered what moves you'd be able to pull off and while you weren't able to do them all, I felt that you did capture the spirit of the SSB fights rather well. I agree with Vanemiera that it'd be cool if you could add a bit more randomness to the fist attack so that it doesn't just smash in the same spot. What are the technical issues your running into that are preventing you from doing this?

Other than that, it's pretty cool. I'll have to give it another play now that you've added a difficult changer. Nice job!

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to tell you that I also followed your Jesus costume tutorial to make my own Sack Jesus. I think he looks hilarious.

I cant extend the fists range because he will collide with the hand youre suppose to attack.

Power to the Sack Jesus!

I thought this boss was pretty good. I don't really remember SSB very well so I can't compare it to your inspiration. The aesthetics were a bit plain... all pink and black, but it sounds like you captured the feel of the original from other posts. The slider at the start is a great idea. I found it could be in between two values sometimes, not sure if that impacted the way the boss behaved though. Going down the elevator one time I managed to hit the button but jump out. This left me falling all the way to the ground of the level. The boss itself looked very good. I especially liked the finger movements.

Overall I'd say you did a pretty good job.

just finished playing this level i like what i see so far. it was too predictable too quick, as you've heard here already. i really enjoyed the movement of the fingers and as a minor ssb fan i enjoyed seeing his attacks LBP-style. it was fun and i replayed it a couple of times until i managed to get the #2 score(under you)! im all about replayability, and your optional difficulty settings definitely pave the way for this. i really hope you gave bonus points for higher difficulties! i will try to top your high score soon. some people said it was a little plain visually but i thought it was pretty accurate.

bosses are not easy to create! i have yet to make one worth publishing. i know how difficult this must have been to create and i can appreciate that.

if you get around to it, you can play my F4F level - The Turtle or The Hare by xThaVIOLENTonEx

here is the link to the thread(i think):
https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=8899

i would prefer people just play the level through and try to enjoy it. you don't need to feel obliged to leave me feedback, but if you want to just search my psn @xthaviolentonex. i entered it ina contest over ob lbpforum.net, which is a great community by the way. lots of people to play your level and leave good feedback with no obligation!

-Yea?I didn?t focus on the detail that much, I could probably spruce it up a bit.

-The position of the slider within certain difficulty levels doesn?t really make a difference. The colors were just there to give you a general sense of where to place it.

-Hmm?there elevator is still clunky?and you jumped out? Guess ill have to speed up the piston to prevent that one.

-Most everyone has noticed the easy predictability. Thats why I added the difficulty switch. The way I have all of his attack built (The part the level you cant see) It doesn?t lend itself to randomizing it. I could make a copy of the level and try it, but if I tampered with it it would completely ruin the entire boss.

-I didn?t have any bonus point for higher difficulties, but that is an option I hadnt considered.
-Instead I added the light display, when you take your picture (at the end). That way when you upload your photo everyone can see what difficulty you beat it on. =P

Hello King_Tubb!
I've heard of Super Smash Brothers, but I knew nothing about the actual game, so I didn't understand the reference till later. (I'm Lame, I know... but that's another story...LOL)

This level was one that I brought some friends along for the ride! Well the good news is, They all LOVED it! They said it was fantastic, and let's do it again!

Granted we all had a problem at the beginning, because we weren't sure what to shoot at, but once we found it and had the right idea, it was awesome! We actually played it numerous times! I gave you 5 hearts!
