ThommyTheThird uses it's third eye, to review YOUR level! (OPEN)

Archive: 55 posts

Well, i don't really have a third eye, sorry to disappoint you.

But, i am not lying about the fact i'm making my own review-center!

--- QUEUE IS CLOSED! Can't get on LBP ---

I will let you post you're levels here, and i will give you constructed, well-built criticism designed to point you out on your mistakes, and ways to improve them.

I underlined levels as i find it nearly useless to review Objects. It won't turn out as a review, but more like a "Hmm, not bad" post. And i'm not into those posts.

NOTE: Your levels will have to be atleast roughly 80% done. This means the major gameplay mechanics are in place, and practically only requires visual tweaking.

I would really appreciate it if you made use of my pre-made form.

Level name - *Insert level name here*
Forum username - *Enter forum username here*
PSN ID - *Enter PSN ID here*
Thread - *If you have a thread for your level, post it here. (I will leave feedback on your thread. Unless requested otherwise.)*
Description - *Please describe your level here, in terms of gameplay, visual theme and or special notes i must know.

That's basically it! Please don't be shy, and post your levels here. I will not bite.

Well I've been on the rounds to generate feedback on my newest level and I'd like to throw it out for consideration.

Level name - Heart of the Flip-Side
Forum username - Trindall
PSN ID - Trindall
Thread - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=8656
Description - Your character plays through eight faces of a rotating 'plus' shaped level. Moderate to difficult run and jump type level with a range of different challenges that wrap around or change as the level rotates. Also in the level is an unlockable area opened by finding a switch/button in each zone and the extra area has behind the scenes walkthroughs and comments from the making of the level.

I appreciate whatever time you put into this review and I look forward to seeing what you think. Thank you.

It's always nice to discover a new review thread =D

Level name - Timeless Village
Forum username - Serpit
PSN ID - TheSerpit
Thread - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=8542
Description - You assume the role of a celestial emissary, sent down to Earth to investgate a mysterious village that has detached itself from the world. Over time, the secret of the village will gradually unfold. The gameplay is heavily driven by both the story and the puzzles, which usually focus on environmental exploration and thinking outside the box. Be warned that some of the puzzles can be pretty hard and will require patience and taking a good look at your surroundings.

Thanks in advance, and I hope you enjoy the level =D

Heey
could you do 2 of my levels??
the first one I have been woring on since launch of the game and I made the second one in 4 days or something but I do think it is pretty much finished.

Level name - R.I.P. again (BETA)
Forum username - MatthijsNL
PSN ID - MatthijsNL
Thread - no thread
Description - The level is in a graveyard theme, a bit like the wedding theme in the story line but a bit more gore. The gameplay is pretty standard stuff: running, jumping, grabing but used (sometimes) in ways I have not seen before in other levels. It ends with a boss fight. Please pay special attention to the difficulty of all the gameplay parts. Please also note any other things you encounter.

the second level (if you can find time)

Level name - Chain that score! (BETA)
Forum username - MatthijsNL
PSN ID - MatthijsNL
Thread - No thread
Description - The concept of this level is getting the highest score you can get. It is almost impossible to die but the real challenge is not to loose your scoremultiplier. I have also added a timer set on my personal record time. The theme is the MGS pack traininglevels style.

Yeah i've played your Parkour thing yesterday, and i really liked how it had multiple paths, and it looked really good. But there was one thing i hated, and that was you could get stuck into the .. Crane thingies. There were meteal crane thingies somewhere, and it didn't have a hole in the bottom. And i believe it was in the front layer. So me and Yarbone got stuck there.

If you make thread for it i will make a bigger review.

oh cool you were playing with yarborne..... oh i didn't knew....LOL

yeah he allready told me that there's a problem in that section and i'll get it fixed today... how about the overall rate??? what do you think?? my intention was to make some real life parkoured experience... just some tecnical parkour race that could reflect in the final standings who is the most skilled parkour LBP player.........

i'm thinking in make a hard version with only one life for extreme players........

So yeah I dumped about 300 hours into this trilogy, and I don't have much time to be on forums and such promoting my levels since I'm in the military and they don't like to let me have any free time. So I am hoping if my levels are any good, eventually a lot of people will play them, so I don't feel like all those hours have been wasted... If you don't do multiple levels, just review the last one. Thanks a lot in either case.

Level Name: Mr Rocket and His Army of Bobs <<This one has the intro to the whole story in the beginning
Level Name: Mrs Rocket's Robot Factory
Level Name: Kid Rocket's Revenge <<This one actually lets you pick the difficulty

thread:

All the levels are located in Australia.
PSN and Forum name: LuckyShot

Story: A young couple have a baby early in their marriage, but the mom is paralized during labor. The father buries himself in his job as a rocket scientist - making rocket powered robots, and the family grows apart. After years of being overly medicated the mom slips the family some of her therapy psych-medication, and thus an entire family of rocket scientists with an army of robots goes crazy and tries to take over the world. Of course, there is always a hero - made out of sack material - who will try to stop them (that's you)

I really hope you like it man. Thanks again.

Hey man, much thanks! I can't believe you played all three so soon. I'll definately fix the parts you can end up on the floor of the map. I hate that that's even possible. I wrote up that story last night, so I kind of rushed the spelling, will go back and fix it all today if I can't get my hands on street fighter 4. I'm glad you liked the progression, and I can't really add anything at all to the last level, since it just overheats when I enter create mode without doing ANYTHING at all... or I would fix the "safe area to the left. Someday I'll stream like some parts to give myself some room to fix that fight. In general I think it needs some safe zones where you can take cover, and when the first half of him is exposed I think he should fire more often - at least he should on "hard" maybe not easy.

Thank you so much for your time man, I'll keep in touch for sure.

wow man that was fast sweet. thanks review your the best. I think what may happen with the air strike is the zombie could fly over the top of the barn and go past the sensor switch but it actually doesnt go in the radius so hmm...did the missle or something hit you directly or did a zombie fly inside?2009-02-18 17:58:00

Level name - Operation: Nuclear Nuisance
Forum username - RickTheRipper
PSN ID - RickTheRipper
Thread - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=8917
Description - The level takes place inside of an abandoned base and you get to experience a mix of shooting and platforming. The only crucial thing you'll need to know is that the final boss can get buggy. Most of the time it works how it should, but sometimes it's missile attack doesn't work how it should (either not launching at all or killing you in the safe spots). This happens because the object that the emitter is on is moving up, down, and side to side. If you encounter any problems with it, I'm sorry.

Thread - No thankyou
Description - The level is heavily based on the Egyptian Gods. The level takes place in a temple. It is my first level, and when I started making it I didn't realise the importance of grid/corner editor. If I made it again it would most likely be much better. My PS3 is broken, so it will take a while for the next update.

well since there isnt anything in your queue will you then try my other level please.

thanks for the last review by the way, i did consider your suggestions and fixed a few things the difficulty for karas will have to stay like that (for skilled gamers) tho the continuation level's difficulty has been changed to SUPER EASY MODE (there are now grabable vents in the moving platforms with the electrical gears)

here is the other level:

Level name - What Lies Beneath

you are then called by one of he's colleagues to search and rescue him, but be most careful for deep within the caves no one knows What Lies Beneath...

Level name - Hobo Warrior
Forum username - t20thoughts

Description - The sequel to "Hobo Wizard". The story will make more sense if you've played the first level, but it's by no means obligatory. Anyway, this is a relatively tough platforming level with a couple of winch-swinging bits, taking place in a corrupted version of the Hoboverse. Your avatar, having been betrayed by the Light Wizard after taking down the Hobo Wizard, must make his/her way through the Light Wizard's Fogtory, which is being used to cover the world in a nasty fog.

Chapter II is far more ambitious and I'm very proud of it!! I wanted to put a lot more into it but the meter told me otherwise!!

Please keep in mind that I intended it as a single player expierence, Its kinda buggy in multiplayer.

Description - Retrieve "Old Buck"s stolen treasure!

The level is quite short, with a brief story line, some puzzling, and a wee bit of platforming.

I didn't fill up my therm and I thought about adding more to it, but the story was told and it was time for me to move on to something new. I've had some other F4F help and implemented a few tweaks to make it better. It was my second published level and I learned so much about creative switch building and logic gates. It is sort of multipath-like in that my main NPC says different things depending on your path/actions. There is also one "hidden" prize (sorry - you have to die to get it though ).

Thanks man!

Level name - Wall-E World
Forum username - FabbieSack
PSN ID - Linenman
Thread - https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=9365
Description - This is a Wall-E parody, I tried to implement as many scenes from the movie as I possibly could (although some, of course, venture off the story track). It's best played with 1 person, but 2-4 can play if you time things right and some people don't mind taking one for the team ever so often lol (I played it 4 player earlier today and it was fine). My thermo is riding 100% full, I deleted a few tiny things (like some lights) here and there to make some room (for improvements).

Not many people have been able to complete it, and I'm trying to find out why. I had an issue (that I had no idea existed) until the other day, and as far as I can tell it's been fixed. It's gone from 80 to 140 plays and still the finish count hasn't really risen, like I figured it should.

Actually (out of 140 plays) it still shows me as being the only person who has completed it as 1 player, everyone else has been 2,3,4 player and they finished it with me playing with them.

Description:
A puzzle based level, that plays alot different than anything else I have played in LBP. It will challenge your perception of savepoints, and is designed for single player only. The level is solely based on original gameplay mechanics, and does not have any theme, story, or good graphics.
