Its not about helping the little guy, its about making more potential customers for their products.2009-02-12 17:28:00

True but are cuts really likely to happen? Nintendo are still selling the most consoles every month and will not drop the price while the demand is at the current level, Microsoft did 1 or 2 cuts last year (depending on the region) and will probably stick with their current price for most of the year or longer and Sony while in the greatest need for a price drop won't be doing it until the cost per unit is much lower as they really can't afford to take huge losses on each unit right now.2009-02-12 17:55:00

Unfortunately, they might not make a profit on the system sold. They already don't, but cutting it back more will hurt even more.2009-02-12 18:05:00

The thread title is a bit misleading. I was expecting an article on Activision trying to help out some independent game developers.

"The little guy" is generally a term applied more towards workers or small businesses than towards customers.

I read the guy worked for Activision and knew immediately the thought process would be flawed. This guy wants consoles to be cheaper so more people can go out and buy Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits. Something seriously wrong with that company.2009-02-12 18:38:00

Console prices always go down with time. What's expensive today will be a steal in just a couple of years.

And third-party developers and publishers always want console prices to go down. They're not the ones funding the production and sale of the console.

This is sword fighting underwater. It doesn't make sense.

This is another classic complain from rich business man, accusing the system or others instead of starting by revising his OWN views.

It's just like the "meh, third party games doesn't sell on Wii". It's total BS. Nintendo games are selling more because they are AAA games and that's all. If everybody was putting the same time and $$ into their games as Nintendo does, their games would sell like Nintendo ones. That's all there is to it.

Now the Activision guy complains about the price of the 360 and PS3 because he wish he would actually sell more games. This is retarded! Why don't you focus on Wii devellopement then? Why do you mostly invest in huge AAA 360/Ps3 games if you know it will not sell enough?

It's not the console prices that is causing all this. Most the problems are caused by a bad pricing on game. They sell any freaking crap at 60$. This doesn't work. Funds and make games for a bunch of different budgets and It will sell. People are buying console regardless.

I can for one am having the problem of being able to afford ps3... The economy is crap and the bigwigs want more cash so they don't have to sell their one of their 12 boats...

Personally I think it's terrible what consoles and the gaming industry in general is doing, guitar hero is the most retarded thing ever because instead of picking up a real guitar for cheaper then what it costs for the game and learning the music yourself so you can be socially acceptable you can pay more for a game that essentially makes you a loser because you cant play a real guitar. You are just playing a large, shiny Simon Says game...

Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea for those of us who aren't musically inclined enough for a real guitar but again having so many DLC/Bonus packs, "Guitar Hero and the Quest for Every Piece of Guitar String in the World" no beautiful music coming out of your instrument.. no... just terribly cheap plastic clicking...

Personally innovation is the key to the gaming industry... the moving to blueray is retarded, HD, retarded... everything we come up with now is a minor upgrade.. we should be focusing our cash and time on diseases and global power crisis but no, we need a plastic piece of shista to slam...

What's next, "Guitar Hero: Bach's Greatest Hits"? or "Guitar Hero: Caveman"? Seriously... consoles sell fine as it is yet what's driving the prices up are spoiled brats who are stealing mom's credit cards and buying random crap...

Wii sells so well because it's got a fanbase of EVERYONE... Xbox stole all the FPS gamers (granted Xbox did have some good rpg's and other genre's but it's mostly noted for it's FPS's) and PS3 has RPG's, Unique types of games but it's not child friendly...

Look what's doing the best with it's child friendly games... Wii anyone?
