LBP Award Nominations

Over the last few days we have observed severe weather conditions down on the LittleBigPlanet, a storm of epic proportions with award nominations raining down upon the heads of all who dwell there.


BAFTA has listed LittleBigPlanet (http://www.bafta.org/awards/video-games/nominations,664,BA.html) as a nominee for the best game in the Artistic Achievement, Casual, Original Score, Technical Achievement, and Use of Audio categories, plus the Game Award of 2008, which is voted for by the public - (so get voting! (http://www.baftagameaward.com/)).


At the GDC Game Developer?s Choice awards (http://www.gamechoiceawards.com/), to be hosted by Tim Schafer once again, LBP will be up for a potential seven of the ten awards: Best Game Design, Best Visual Art, Best Technology, Best Audio, Best Debut, Innovation and the apparently coveted Game of the Year award.


If all those weren?t enough, today the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year (http://www.designsoftheyear.com/about/), the Design Museum?s annual exploration of the most innovative, interesting and forward-looking new work in design of all kinds, has shortlisted LittleBigPlanet for their Interactive Award 2009.


All of these on top of the 10 nominations at the Interactive Achievement Awards (http://www.littlebigplanetoid.com/article/littlebigplanet_leads_with_10_nominations_at_the_i nteractive_achievement_aw), and the host of awards (http://www.littlebigplanetoid.com/tag/awards) won at the end of last year.

Wow... LBP should do well at GDC, in my opinion. GDC is usually more respectful of innovative games that push the boundaries of the what videogames have become. I think LBP will win some points in that category.2009-02-12 20:12:00

The problem with the voting is that more people own a xbox than a ps3 and multiconsole games also have a bigger chance of winning -_-...

I know about 30 people with xbox's and they voted LBP.

Don't be so sure, a lot of xbox owners actually like the game and the PS3.

But every xbox owner owns gears of war 2 and even if they like the concept of lbp they wont vote at it because they haven't played it. Sure people who own both consoles will be fair and vote at the best game, but how many are there who own both? It's a very small amount compared to those who own only one console...
However, there are 11 million people who play WotLK and if they get to know about the voting they will almost definitely vote at it.		2009-02-13 06:34:00

Those that play WotLK never get off the game, so they probably won't know about it.

But, not really, not everyone owns gears of war 2, and tbh. I've played it, it isn't all that great, I had an xbox and I think gears of war 1 is a little better, this one isn't as fast paced. And none of my friends own a ps3 and they still voted LBP, strictly because it's a new innovative game. You might be suprised.
