Lets start my story from the beginning. When I agreed to have my name be Pinkcars (part of a bet) it seemed harmless. Sure, it was a bit girly, but that was part of what made it funny. When I first went online no one seemed to care that my name could be considered weird, instead of something clever or cool. But recently I've been having a problem you see. I've been getting harassed on PSN by many people (like a serious number of people, like in every game) for my choice in names. They've felt that my name warranted being called several words that are taboo on these forums (as well as accusations towards my intelligence and sexuality). Now I'm not soft skinned, I can deal with being insulted, but it's beginning to affect my enjoyment. For example I have been booted from a MGO server for having my name. I've also been universally muted several times, not for arguing back, but simply because my name, was my name, and I had a mic. Now these things are all quite trivial, but regardless I feel remaining faithful to the original bet, and putting up with this abuse is unacceptable. So I'm changing my PSN to "Gunstar_legneds". I'm aware I could still be mocked or ridiculed for my choice, but I'm a great fan of Gunstar heroes and I like the way it sounds. I plan on re-adding everyone on my friends list. Also I'd like to thank everyone on this forum for being so kind in the past. You've proven this to be a something of a Utopian community.

Get used to it, online is full of racists little Aussies, Not all just some, i play on cod4 online and my clan tag is NZL, short for New Zealand. Then all the racists little Aussies come on and go, Awww look here it's a thick Maori, go beat your kids you.... and I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!! They think there so tuff through a little mic. i can't stand it.!!!!!!!! can we please have a report option.

Well, I can see were you're coming from Flash, and I'm pretty sure, like Pinkcars stated, he could take it, and it didn't affect him at all. But one thing that made him change was the fact that he would get booted for having that name. Which I find immature and just sad, but that's life. It's everywhere, on the internet, on console games, and in real life. You just have to deal with it. In your case though, changing your PSN would be the wisest decision.

Obviously lil kiddy things like making fun of someone's name won't phase people so easily, especially online. But I do know what you're going through, my main PSN is MrTunaFace and I do think it is a pretty funny name, but people go way beyond of thinknig it's funny. I get my shares of people who think it's a pretty nice/cool name, but there are a lot more haters that I play with. I never had it went as far as being muted, kicked, or some sort, but i have gotten annoying *** lil kids repeat my name.. and that was hell lol. I just play the game, OWN THEM ALL, and let them shut up after seeing how badly i OWN. If it bothers you that much, change it. If you just simply want to change it, do it. There's always other matches, games, rooms or w/e you can join, don't change your name for dumb people like that. I find it hard to believe some people would just boot you out of a room/server cus of your name.. -_- MGO people.. lol jk.

Lol, omg I remember when my Xbox Live Gamertag was Whaaaale with 11 a's I had people constantly screaming my name, it was funny. It got irritating at times, but it was funny. Partly the reason why it's shortened on PSN. I don't know why I called you Thee-Flash, I'll change it if it makes you happy sonny boy!

Please don't change your name. This is the equivalant of giving the school bully your lunch money. Its a temporary fix and all it does is encourage him to do the same to others. People who make fun of you of you for any reason. In the end of the day do you really want to be playing a game with people as immature and obnoxious as that? They did you a favour by kicking you from the game as you can then go and find a group of people who are more like minded, and don't get so uncomfortable when they see the word "pink". Actually you just reminded me of something, when I was in art college, as part of my graphic desiign degree I had to do a module of sculpture. The sculpture I created was a number of thought bubbles placed around the city with random thoughts or memories. Anyway, one of the thought bubbles had "Pink, to be free" on it. And someone who was there while is was putting it up asked me was this some *** pride thing. The whole point of it was that people should have the right to like the colour pink without all the conotations it is associated with. No, I'm not ***, no I don't have any real liking of the colour pink, but if I did I don't want to be ridiculed for it. My point is people need to respect others and the only way to encourage this is by sticking to what you belive and respecting others yourself.....

If changing your name allows you to have more fun playing, then do it. Don't let anyone convince you to deal with unnecessary crap, video games are everyone's one outlet of pure enjoyment. There is absolutely no reason to try and make a point by keeping your name, it will not affect anyone but yourself.

Sorry if this is off topic but I just saw my previous post there and have to ask. Why is the word *** censored? It's not a derogotory term or a swear word? ya IDK man, obviously we all know there are a TON of ignorant / stupid people out there that judge people and are scared of them because they are different and are too stupid to except that so that fear turns into anger / hatred for them. but i would have to agree w/ walter; its sad but if its really causing that kind of harassment (which i was pretty shocked to hear people are that bad) i would just change it because it will ultimately lead to a better experiance for you. not saying you should have to but if it seems those morons wont leave you alone maybe change it

hmm i kinda get harrased with snrm007 for some weird reason. but the words i use back make em be quiet. its not that im mad i just do it on xbox live cause i like yelling on there for some reason XD i say dont change your name cause of harrasers its not too big. at least it isnt Mclovin. i dont know about PSN cause i dont play online too much on PS3 but everyone uses McLovin then some numbers on xbox live D:

I hate how a minority do some stupid things, and the majority get blamed for it. If you want something to laugh at though, there was an episode on The Crowd Goes Wild that was soooo funny. They dressed in an Allblacks supporters kit, complete with the black and white scarf and the face paint. Then they got a Massive sign saying "Aussie doesn't Rule" and took it to a Aussie Rules game. They got kicked out, but it was funny as. "Oi! Go back across the ditch you dirty Sheep (bird)er" I could barely contain myself. And next time they say that, you should feel sorry for them. After all, their rugby teams suck :hero::hero: EDIT: have you seen Sioni's (forgot spelling) Wedding? THAT was funny. I especially like the part where the white guy was trying to be Samoan, going "ohh soley, I'm from G-Field Represent" and all that jazz, and they were like "dude, speak your own language, its Glenfield

There's a real bunch of very immature people out there. It show even more on the net since being anonymous lets them be who they truly are. Anyhow, I wouldn't be surprised by this. It's annoying and not going away anytime soon. I'm actually not interested in online gaming for multiple reasons and this is one of the reasons. Oddly enough I was reading today about a girl getting banned from Xbox live because she was a lesbian... .

i kinda know what you mean. my psn nothing happens really. the worst i got was "you know your name is kinda weird". but when my stepbrother came over and i got to play halo 3 online. i had to use his sisters account called puppypower and they made fun of me for that and i hate that.(i even told them it wasn't my account but they didn't pay attention) but when ever that happens i just try to go after them instead of some of his teammates. (to bad i kinda suck at halo most of the time) Oddly enough I was reading today about a girl getting banned from Xbox live because she was a lesbian... . thats stupid. i don't care for things like that. i say let people do whatever they want to do. but getting banned for that is just really stupid.

One reason I don't use a headset on any game other than Socom or LBP: People on videogames are a bunch of ****s who will stop at nothing to ruin the game for everyone by yelling into their headsets a bunch of useless nonsense. They suck at games so they scream and yell at you a bunch of crap so they can fall back on the excuse that "Dude im liike not evn tryin lol!". They're the same people who cry about camping because campers would rather use strategy over running around like an idiot in the open for no reason. I love when people complain about sniping campers too. The great thing about PS3 is that almost no one has a headset so you don't have to deal with it as much.

One of the reasons I gave up on xbox live was because of the huge amount of idiots on it. The trouble with giving people a voice but keeping them faceless is it gives them free reign of their limited minds. The verbal abuse and chatter on live was sickening. I have yet to come across anything close to this on PSN. The lack of headset owners explains this I guess. The more popular they become, the more abuse will be heard I'm afraid. I'm sorry to say that it's part of life. Good luck for the future though mate.
