Manifesto Chapter 1 (Pics and Vids)

Archive: 10 posts

Hello everyone. I thought I'd throw down the first level I made after the Beta. I know it's a bit lacking, but the story's cool, and the second chapter is much better. Anyways here's the low down:

You are Manifesto, a visitor from another world, who crash lands on this strange planet, and are whisked away as the one foretold in the legends!!! You have arrived, and are instantly requested to do tasks that ultimately lead to you vanquishing a great evil... Along the way you are granted powers of nature, that will aide you upon your quest.

Incase you couldn't tell, it's a story driven series

Here's some pics of some of the Characters:

Here's a video of one of the powers of nature (plant power shown) you get along the way:

and here's the first of two "bosses" you fight along the way:

YouTube - Manifesto Chapter 1 War Beast

and wow, holy crud!!! Just browsing through I see someone filmed the whole level (thank goodness, as my camera only holds like 60 secs )

YouTube - LBP Online 012- Manifesto Chapter 1 (Maraz Matari)

Thanks, hope you guys like it!!!

I should have Chapter two up here by the end of the week, but feel free to play that too, and leave me some feedback. thanks!!!

Playied 2 days ago, and i found it very well designed. The story is cool (where do you found the name Manifesto? In Italian Manifesto means Poster ) The NPC are well-made, i liked very much the Jester (expecially "after" ) The grapich of the level was well-curated, and i liked very much when my sackboy began to talk xD Good idea
1 thing: i don't know if it's intentionally, but i jumped on the arm of the Robot, then on the head and... i killed him ?__? I think is better invulnerable
Another thing: after the "giant" War Beast, the big black scoprion, there is the blue cave with the scoreboard inside: try to place the scoreboard a little right, 'cause if someone see the scoreboard, he can think taht the level is finished already.
The powers of Nature are very cool, you can use it for many "secrets".
The golem was well made, good idea to take his eye xD

Overal, the level was really good. Good story and grapich, NPC well made, good lenght. Maybe the only bad thing was when you take the heart of the monster to the NPC, it was long the ride, but nothing real important
So, very good level, 4/5 stars

I had fun with this level. From a story and a design standpoint, it's outstanding. Definately from a graphic standpoint it's lacking and not very polished, but I think you know that already - understandable as an early level.

This is definately worth playing - I think budding authors could really learn from the story aspects and the way new areas opened up as you played.

cool, glad you guys liked it.I actually spent way too much time making this level, mainly due to the fact that I had to build it twice. I was almost done with the first version during the beta when I let a friend of mine down load "Ratchet and Clank: Quest for booty".... well he saw the LBP beta on my download list and started downloading it before telling me... When he told me I was liuke" sure no problem, if it lets you in too, that's cool"... then I went to bed to forget about it.... next day after work, I come home wanting to hop back into LBP, and finish the level.... no go... Apparently I was freaking, called Sony and they told me only one account is allowed to have it, or it locks you out.

Luckily he was a good friend and deleted it from his PS3, but Sony also told me I had to delet my profile and save data.... needless to say I lost my progress...

I thought of scrapping the whole idea, but really liked the concept so I stuck with it and rebuilt it, bigger and better than the first version. The only thing I think was better in the first version, was the king. But this king works and does his job .

I've got some progress on Ch3 done, but had a big glue glitch happen.... lost motivation for a while, so I'm going to be playing some other peoples levels and such before I decide to pick up and fix Ch3 some more. Trust me the series will be finished, but I'm in no rush .

Now that I've rambled for a bit, I'd like to say thanks again for playing it

I played this, Cubes and Seeing Red tonight. Seeing Red was cool in an abstract kind of way that didn't work for me, but I really thought this one was brilliant.

I'm not sure I subscribe to the idea that a level has to be multi-layers deep, 100% custom etc to be good. You've put together an interesting little story here that really left me impressed.

I loved the small golem enemies...hope that's a prize in there somewhere. Also liked the scorpions.

The burning houses and the jester transformation were clever emitter effects that I've wanted to pursue but haven't been ambitious enough to try.

The eyeball bit...brilliant!

Easily my favorite of your levels...just a great little story with some really interesting gameplay elements and amazing character design. Well done!

The thing that seems to work so well in Manifesto Chapter 1 is how you have your characters say one thing when you walk past them, and then when an event happens they say something else. I was very impressed by this the first time that I saw this. It's very much like the way switches work in RPG maker, but this is not an rpg making game, and yet you made it work, and quite well, might I add. 2009-02-20 19:01:00

I actually played this level a couple weeks ago, after playing Super Color Shooter... it's obvious that it's a first time level, but shows that you were thinking big and had a handle on lots of mechanics and design ideas that most people don't until they're on their 3rd or 4th creation... which explains why you're able to do amazing things in levels like Seeing Red and SCS. It was pretty fun and worth a play.2009-02-20 21:00:00

Thank you for the feedback. Yes I xkappax, I think the story scripting is probably the best feature in the level, right along side of my growing tree, and burning houses. Other than that the level is pretty blandish, aside from the story .2009-02-21 19:37:00
