I looked at my activity yesterday, and it was higher than it is today. Why would it go down, when I have changed nothing about my activity? Can and does it go down? Thanks.

Because you've been posting less today I guess. You need X post every day for X weeks for get 100% activity. But only the admins (and maybe the mods) know how much X is. This page (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=93831) should help explain how the activity stat works.
