Puzzle Idea

Alright, I have an idea for a puzzle, but it seems overdone. What I want to do is have an or switch rigged to two doors that each have traps to navigate past and keys at the end, both of which you need to progress in the level. Any way I could make it a little more, I don't know, unique?2009-02-10 18:27:00

So, you want a switch in the middle, that opens one of the two doors, and there's keys there. And you need both keys to get to the end, right? This in itself is somewhat 'unique' as i don't recall seeing it somewhere.

What would make it more interesting, is obviously original traps, and/or puzzles. But also a theme.

If you have the left side be Good, and the right be Evil? Or Light/dark, or other contrast you can think of. Please don't do evil/good since everyone does, and it's quite tacky.

Maybe even Black/white (read: sad) vs Colours (read: happy happy joy joy)

I was thinking of having it be two halves of an idol, but they need to be brought back to the original room, not to the end. They would cause the floor to give way to the next room. Traps are easy, I already have about three original ones laid out.2009-02-10 19:04:00

Yeah ok, but that might obstruct your traps, unless you emit "bridges" to drag the idol over. For example, if you have a spike pit (Yeah tacky, i know) You can't drag it over.

But are you needing help on making the traps, or the setting?

You could make it that you must teleport back to the middle with it (see the object showcase forum).

Also, maybe have a cuscene at the beggining of the area, by attatching a sensor switch to dissolve, which pushes a piston along a line, triggering camera zones of the idols and their respective places?
