The Rift

Archive: 14 posts

This is my 4th level. I tried really hard to make unique gameplay moments, and I believe I succeeded.

Almost everything is custom, and it has a unique visual style.

Level: The Rift
PSN username: logan1223

try it out!

feedback appreciated

Hey great level.

I really liked the way you had the level transition to the glitched version. Some great ideas you have there!

Now to the feedback.

The only real problems I had were visible emitters(which take away from the cool glitch theme) and at some points it was a little hard to tell which way to go.

This is more of a personal preference but I think you should change when the prince says "the rest of the level is glitched" or something like that. I felt like it was telling the player too fast what was happening, it'd be more suspenseful if you don't really know whats going on until suddenly it changes to the glitched world.

Besides that, great level. You should do a sequel!

This was fun. I thought the concept was cute.

PROS:

I liked the story, and the cartoony graphics.

Some great platforming elements

CONS:

As mentioned above, visible emitters

There didn't seem to be a real resolution to the story (at least in text)

Nice game!

Thanks, I may go back through the level and cover the visible emitters, but I don't know if I will be doing any more LBP level creation.2009-02-12 03:33:00

eh, I spend a lot of time on TF2 map creation, so that takes up a lot of my time. Also, my levels in LBP hardly get played at all. I may get back into it, but the PS3 isn't even mine, so....2009-02-12 05:08:00

No! You two. Don't give up!

I played the level and all others you have made. They are great. I hearted you and the levels. That's all i can do. It really is disturbing to know you got only two hearts.

You have many ideas and a talent for visuals. Keep on going!

The concept is really original, some points of it though i couldn't tell if was a real glitch like after the treadmill part i'm supposed to bounce up, but i happened to stay down and got electrified then reverted back to that checkpoint before the transition. Then it wasn't easy going back up the platform that bounces me up.2009-02-16 07:43:00

Awesome concept! I love how it's a continuation of the Little Big Planet Garden levels, but then adds in a very unique twist with the corruption. I loved the visual style, with the more organic setting being taken over by the more electronic material. VR versions of bbjects like the trees, clouds and flowers where very cool. If I had one suggestion concerning the visuals it might have been to mix the two looks a bit more before going purely corruption. You do come back to the mixed look toward the end though with the Price being "infected". Very cool.

The platforming segments where well done, but I did notice that at the very beginning, with the windmill, I was able to just run behind the entire thing and never deal with it. Wasn't sure if that was intentional or not. My other criticism would concern the ending, it's kind of anti climatic. I was thinking there would be some kind of monster responsible for the corruption, but you just hit a button. Kind of a let down.

Overall though, a really enjoyable level with a creative concept and look that ties into the original game. Nice.
