Playing locked levels?

Archive: 19 posts

I was a victim of the "failed to load level" bug and after I got my game save back from MM, I published a locked version of my level in case anything bad happened (bug came back, etc).

Today, when I hopped on to publish my other levels, I noticed that my locked level had 3 plays on it. It doesn't have a star rating or any comments (besides the publish time).

So, are people playing my level and somehow avoiding the star rating or is something else happening?

I've had this happen on a few of my levels too (what I have of parts 3, 4, and 5 are locked and uploaded just in case). I'm left to assume it's just a glitch or something.2009-02-10 01:44:00

Could it be the way moderation is being handled now? I always get these mysterious single plays on my locked levels, here and there..and so do my friends. I'm not saying someone is physically playing it, but maybe a spider or something?2009-02-10 02:01:00

what I have noticed is that it will count some of the playthroughs you have when you go to play mode during edit mode. Hope that made sense.2009-02-10 02:02:00

I posted about this a while ago. Simple solution is to creat a wall of dissolve hooked up to to a sticker switch which requires a custom sticker that only you have. This way even if people enter the level they will not be able to progress/see anything. A speech bubble explaining the situation wouldn't hurt either 2009-02-10 02:07:00

I get those mysterious single plays too! It's actually happened when I haven't played-through the level, I signed on and saw someone else playing and there was no way anyone could be. Maybe it's a glitch, who knows.2009-02-10 03:00:00

This has happened to me too, I'm scared a mysterious ghost is playing my locked levels, you know because... ghosts are transparent... they can go through locks... Bah whatever!2009-02-10 03:34:00

This happened to me as well. I just ignore it. Chances are, it's MM.2009-02-10 12:00:00

I've been getting this too. I have quite a few published locked levels that are just work in progress that I publish locked every time I've edited my level and I'm turning off my PS3 so I don't loose anything.

Also I have one level that is locked but does not have the padlock symbol on it. When I look at the info it is locked and has no plays but the padlock symbol is not on the button on the planet

I had that happen too but I assumed it was because I played the published level (not on my moon).

I've got two that have single plays indicated on locked levels. I think they are holdovers from when I tested them after publishing.2009-02-10 23:42:00

I've got 2 on M.F.A.ch.3 (that is actually locked and in progress) and, shocking, 5 plays on the new level I'm actually working on... O_o2009-02-11 00:19:00

There's really only two logical explanations.

1 - It's Media Molecule playing the levels, to check for any... you know.

2 - When you enter your level in playmode, it might add a play to your level, whether it's locked or not.

My guess is it's a bot checking magic mouths, so it can go and put asterisks on the offending speech bubbles. A bot can't (well, not very well) check if something is inappropriate visually or contexually, but they can check words easily enough.

If it was a human, they would be forced to rate it. So that's why I'm guessing it's a bot.

You're saying if you don't rate a level your play doesn't get counted?2009-02-11 22:46:00

Yea that makes alot of sense, mystery solved in my opinion, like whaaaaale said must be a mixture of your own plays and some sort of bot/moderator...

That makes sense, great for a story type level. I would have a hard time doing that with my current survival challenge as I change the entrance places frequently to test out the different parts of it, i.e. Entrance, Gameplay and Ending.

I doubt it. That would be a flawed system that would allow uncensored words through all the time until said bot found them. This step almost certainly happens as part of the publish process.
