to be fair, a noted Sony leaker from neogaf has said in the past that there will be a "Beast" at E3.

Yet I find it very hard to believe that these images are fake for what they look like, someone would have to put a lot of dedication into it to make them fakes.

Plus did you not watch the videos? There has been evidence and rumors of another Souls project for little over six months, and a prominent Sony employee has been mentioning a 'beast' at E3 whenever asked about Souls and PS4.

Well that was about as quick as I expected. Seems many high title game companies ran off in secret to work on a PS4 title while also doing 1 last PS3 beforehand by a different group, Even Sonicteam is doing that at the moment. Makes me feel good I didn't get DarkSouls2 and decided to wait for a PS4 related title instead. If this is real I hope it's a super spooky themed world. *mew

Well I think you are missing out and you should get it when you get the chance, preferably PC since by now there are ENBs that make it look just as graphically amazing as we saw in the demos before its launch.

Be warned the music and sound effects were added by the uploader, the orginal video has no sounds at all.

Indeed pluss Miyazaki is the head, which I know a lot of people are going to be excited about.

EDIT:

Well I changed the post with info on Bloodborne, with the trailer from E3, and stuff that Miyazaki has confirmed for the game through an interview with Famitsu.

Yes that is unfortunate that PS+ will now be necessary for online now but I still want the game.

As for the gameplay trailer, I find it interesting that it was still titled Project Beast, perhaps an early trailer for the game, none the less it still is awesome and love the designs of enemies we get to see in it. Definitely appears way more bloody then either Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. Even darker then Demon's Souls I dare say.

I heard you can drink blood to heal yourself, but if you drink blood from monsters it deepens the curse of the beast whereas blood from NPCs will help lift the curse. I dunno if that's true but it sounds like a cool mechanic.

Yes I've heard that to, drinking the blood of the beasts heals you but also makes your character unpredictable or less controllable, something like that while human blood removes the beast blood and is better for you.
Also I've discovered that the leaked gameplay trailer was more then likely for last years Tokyo Game Show. There were rumors that Miyazaki and Fromsoft were going to show something there when a Sony rep was asked about it who said the TGS was going to be a "beast of a show". So it seems the trailer was made for TGS but for unknown reasons was never used.

From Dualshockers:

- There are really freaky enemies, an example is big birds forced to stay on the ground which were defined ?grounded crow demons? by Nick Suttner.
- The block/counter mechanic from previous Souls games won?t return with the same relevance, and now combat it's more based on attack.
- You can dual wield a lit torch and the main characyer?s saw-cleaver and burn enemies with the torch while you hack at them with the weapon.
- The saw-cleaver has two different ?states.? You can flick it open for additional range, or keep it folded to have a closer range weapon.
- You can use the shotgun to stagger enemies, and then dash in with the saw-cleaver to finish them.
- Blood is ?out of control.? It sprays everywhere and the character?s trench coat actually gets all stained and shiny with the enemies? blood as it gets soaked in it.
- The graphics have been defined ?amazing,? especially the environments.
- The light passing through the fog creates cool ray effects.
- There are wind effects in the game, interacting with the environment.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"About the theme ?exploring the unknown? I spoke about earlier, I believe the concept should be applied to gameplay elements. The tactical factor of the new ?active battle? is part of that, but we also want to include unknown elements in various areas of gameplay, for instance in character builds and the strategy the player will use. We?d like players to have fun stumbling their way through the game and finding out those unknown elements.

For example I can explain this by talking about the weapons that can be used together with the gun and that we define ?gimmick weapons? . In the CG trailer shown at E3, we introduced the saw-cleaver weapon. That weapon has an unique shape and can also transform, and its features also change depending on the transformation.

Using those different transformations is an integral part of gameplay, and there are even unique attacks with special effects that can be executed only while the weapon is in the middle of a transformation. I think that there will be a lot of room for exploration on how to master those weapons." - Miyazaki

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taken from Wikipedia, I don't know where they found this information:
The game's story takes place in an ancient, abandoned city called Yharnam which was known for housing a medical remedy. Over the years, many travelers made pilgrimages to Yharnam seeking the remedy to cure their afflictions; the protagonist is one of these travelers. Upon arriving in Yharnam, however, it is discovered that it is overrun with a terrifying curse which has rendered most of the city's population violently deranged. The player must navigate the streets of Yharnam and defeat its insane inhabitants and horrifying monsters in order to survive.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Similar from Playstation.com:
Face your fears as you search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam, now cursed with a strange endemic illness spreading through the streets like wildfire. Danger, death and madness lurk around every corner of this dark and horrific world, and you must discover its darkest secrets in order to survive.

A Terrifying New World: Journey to a horror-filled gothic city where deranged mobs and nightmarish creatures lurk around every corner.
Strategic Action Combat: Armed with a unique arsenal of weaponry, including guns and saw cleavers, you'll need wits, strategy and reflexes to take down the agile and intelligent enemies that guard the city's dark secrets.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, apparently Miyazaki mentioned in an interview that the player would get "traps", which could be interesting

Then it's almost certain you won't like Bloodborne either. It's definitely going to be in the same style, maybe it'll even be a spiritual successor to some degree. I mean, it even has the familiar fog gates and all.

--------------------------------------

The guns being held in the left hand make me think they'll replace shields in a really weird way. Miyazaki said they want a less passive combat system which won't allow people to turtle behind shields, right? So maybe the blunderbusses are meant to be used in a defensive way to make up for that.

Imagine it: most firearms probably won't do much damage, but they will have good stopping power. They won't be practical as a killing weapon, but will cause enemies to stagger. Maybe they'll have to be used to interrupt attacks just before they hit you. Maybe the shotguns with wider spread will be used as crowd control, to keep swarms of weaker enemies at bay.

That would also mean that you'd have to time these defensive shots very carefully. Whereas in Souls you can just keep your shield up until the stamina runs out, in Bloodborne you'll be limited by fire rate, ammo and reloading time.

And maybe there are a few guns that do cause considerable damage, but don't stagger the enemies. Using them would be the equivalent of going two-handed in Souls. All attack, no defense.

That video seems to confirm what I was thinking... The gun doesn't do any significant damage, but it does interrupt enemies when they're coming at you.

Basically, guns are the new shields.

This is definitely reminiscent of Dark/Demon Souls, and after seeing this gameplay demo, I'm certainly going to check out this game (even though I haven't played Dark Souls before).

Although, I'm wondering if they'll give you the option to actually go two-handed in bloodborne, so no gun but but two melee weapons.

Side dash o/
Wind-up for swings looks shorter and stamina recovery looks faster, fighting movement in general looks faster and less sluggish, interested in seeing how that effects pvp and how balanced the speed of things will be
Not sure if i'm happy with the idea of wandering into peoples worlds instead of being summoned.. if it's like what's implied they'll still most likely notify you somehow when it happens but if they get rid of or even just change how pvp works now it seems like it'll cause problems.
If you can still summon and be summoned the same way things are now though i'm all for new things.

You can wield two melee weapons in every souls game, for it to not be in this game would mean: you couldn't have a melee weapon in your left hand, you can only have a melee weapon in one hand and are forced to only use ranged in the other, or you just don't have secondary weapon slots and are locked into one melee/one ranged because having secondary slots and not allowing you to put any weapon in it would be a weird turn for them to take. All of those scenarios are bad and unlikely.

@terablaze
Oh there probably will be two handed weapons, but I think they are emphasizing more on the guns is due to the fact it's new and it's replacing the shield as a defense mechanism.

@Bremnem
Indeed it does seem faster and I think they said they wanted to make it somewhat faster when compared to Souls games. As for multiplayer well we know nothing on what they plan on it yet. Some rumors going around that it might be actually more comparably to Journey then the Souls games, that you will come across players at random and what happens between you is up to you and said player. Maybe it will be jolly co-operation or it shall be a bloody battle to the death. Granted that's just rumor but could be interesting.

I'd say it's more of a tool for strategy when approaching combat since the game is trying to make you feel vulnerable in this city, and that ammo is scarce. Still, it can be used defensively to stun an enemy when they're about to attack you.

Only 20 players at the Penny Arcade Expo and 40 at the Tokyo Game Show managed to beat the demo. (http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/09/23/bloodbornes-challenging-demo-on-ps4-cleared-by-20-people-at-pax-about-40-at-tokyo-game-show/)

About 14 players at the Eurogamer Expo managed to reach the final boss, and only one of those was able to beat it. (https://twitter.com/liljuny/status/515187787730276352)

Looks like we don't need to worry about the game's difficulty level.

True but there was also news that the demo was made easier so people could actually beat it. So difficulty wise I'm sure we are set.
Also I have some more news. This is a supposed leak of the multiplayer as well as some info on the beta. Though take it with a pinch of salt since it is a supposed leak, none of the stuff is confirmed as of yet so they are as good as rumors right now but if they are true, it sounds quite fascinating:

It's been confirmed that an expansion is in the works for the game:

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/05/20/sony-confirms-bloodborne-expansion-in-the-works.aspx?CommentPosted=true#commentmessage

We might have hints of what the expansion might contain through items that we're suppose to be in the game (at least rumored) with descriptions that were leaked before launch but are not in the game nor on the disk itself, suggesting it could of been an area that was planned but was scrapped earlier in development due to the time constraints on the game (similar to how Oolacile was for Dark Souls). Here are said items:

Dried Clathrus Archeri

"It's blood red color and odor of rotting flesh doesn't suggest it, but this rare mushroom is invaluable for its medicinal properties. Savvy hunters only carry it for a short time, as it is said a terrible beast is attracted to it."

Avolina's Doll

"It is said that Avolina was fond of spiders and creepy crawlies. Born outside of marriage, Avolina shamed her house, and was locked away with only her books and this ragged old doll to keep her company."

Old Library Key

"Ancient Yharnam is shrouded in mystery. It is said that the church had many old tomes burned from the great library to cover up atrocities and dark witchcraft long forgotten.

The key itself is made from a strange, heavy material."

It could be similar to what happened to Dark Souls where the Artorias of the Abyss expansion that came out a year after the game, was actually going to be in the game but because of time restrictions they had to drop it to focus on the main game since Oolacile is more of a side area. Potentially the expansion could be a side area that was going to be in the game but because of time restrictions again they had to drop it to focus on the main story rather then a side area. Or these items were just changed later down the line or were part of early ideas that were then dropped. Though I find the Dried Clathrus Archeri the most interesting of the three. What would of come after us if we held on to this mysterious mushroom? Why type of nightmare would stalk us? We the hunter would become the hunted, very interesting idea. OR it's just an invasion mechanic item that makes you more likely to be invaded upon consumtion like the Dried Finger in Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2. Hey one can dream though that some terrible beast would start stalking you if you had it right?

Then the second item. If these are all now part of the expansion. Spiders..... Fing Spiders...... Why does it always have to be spiders? WHY? XD

Then the third item. Now we basically know the church has been behind some atrocious things all ready (fake Isofeka tricking you to send people to her to make them into little celestial emessaries, the orphanage, etc) but an entire library burned for such things, what else were they hiding pray tell? And witchcraft, the church dabbles in the arcane but never did we see forms of witchcraft. Sounds like there is more to the dark underbell of the church.

I've been playing the heck out of this.

It's my first FromSoftware game and I love and hate it equally. Almost done with the platinum but I'm stuck at the end of the Defiled Chalice dungeon. Starting a second character to get the Eileen quests done as it's the only thing I missed in the first playthrough.

Picked this up last night too

Yes it is quicker pace, it's similar yet different then Souls. It's different in that you want to be more offensive then defensive but also similar in that you shouldn't get greedy with attacking enemies or else you are going to find yourself dieing a lot. I like the game a lot, granted it still hasn't surpassed Dark Souls IMO the best but it's still quite fun and fixes some issues I had with Dark Souls 2. Plus with an expansion coming at some point it could be a good time to get into it. Just be warned it's not just monsters you face, but cosmic horror and lots of H.P. Lovecraft twists if you read that stuff. I've just gotten into it and it is some weird stuff.

Well, this was the game that convinced me to finally get a PS4 and I got the Platinum not too long ago. I'd agree that the first Dark Souls remains the best, and Bloodborne is held back a bit by more limited build variety and a, at times, poor mix of giant bosses coupled with strange hitboxes and camera angles. At the same time I think this one has my favorite visual and story aesthetic of all the souls games.

All the others are distinctly Medieval European fantasy with a strong Berserk influence while Bloodborne has a much less common Victorian Gothic setting with the aforementioned Lovecraftian influences (but still with more than a few Berserk references). I think also that this might just be the hardest of all of the souls games; some of the later Chalice dungeons are brutal and there aren't any particularly cheap tactics you can consistently exploit like in the previous games (no high-powered, spammable projectiles or buffs). It also might be the scariest one as well, since there is an almost Silent Hill-like quality to the setting.

And if anyone is interested, not too long ago I made a Belmont-build for a Castlevania-style playthrough and compiled the gameplay footage (after repeated reshoots) to create the illusion of a full-blown 3D Castlevania game. These videos are rather long though, and apologies for the slog that is the earlier portions (I'm guessing these are the reasons why they haven't been so popular):

Try to avoid evenly distributing stats as that generally results in a mediocre character. Vitality and Endurance are generally good stats to invest in (Vitality especially), but in regards to the other stats it's more important to find a a weapon or two you like and invest in the minimum stats needed to use them and then invest heavily in the stat or stats that strongly affect the damage dealt with them. You'll have to determine yourself what you want to build up your character into though generally speaking, Strength and/or Skill are more practical investments than Bloodtinge or Arcane (these are the four stats that can determine both your ability to use weapons and tools as well as how effective they are). This is because Bloodtinge generally affects your damage with Guns but the thing is guns themselves are generally not used for damage and there are a few guns that can be used with low Bloodtinge anyway. Meanwhile, Arcane determines whether or not you can use certain hunter tools and your effectiveness with elemental and magic-based damage but your access to those are largely limited for most of the game. Also, both guns and hunter tools are "powered by" and limited to your supply of quicksilver bullets which is a limitation most melee weapons don't have. That isn't to say guns and tools are useless, but first time players would probably have an easier time relying on more melee-oriented gameplay.

In regards to combat itself, it probably goes without saying but its far easier to deal with a single enemy than multiple; with that in mind, always try and think of ways to isolate enemies and limit their ability to gang up on you. You are not Kratos or Dante and generally going against whole hordes of enemies will end badly, but at the same time you are not helpless. Your character may exist in a sort of horror story setting but that actually does not necessarily make you a victim; your character is explicitly a hunter, so think like a predator that is hunting dangerous prey and try and keep in mind how the environment can be used against you or turned to your advantage. When you inevitably fail consider what could you have done differently and not just if you could have played more skillfully. Also, when you fight giant enemies it may benefit you to NOT use the lock-on.

Also, always be on the lookout for opportunities to execute "Visceral Attacks"; these are attacks that deal huge damage, increase the amount of Blood echoes gained if fatal, render you invulnerable during their animation, and can be modified for even more effects. In past Souls games there were mechanics known as backstabs and riposte; the former was executed by using a regular melee attack behind a humanoid enemy and the latter was done by successfully parrying an attack and both left the enemy vulnerable to a highly damaging attack. Visceral Attacks are the successor to both and can be achieved three different ways. The first is to execute a charge attack (hold down R2 with a weapon in your right hand or L2 with an unarmed left hand) at an enemy whose back is turned to you; this will cause the enemy to momentarily keel over accompanied by a distinctive, echoing thud sound; during which get up close and execute a regular R1 to trigger the visceral attack. Take note that this does not work on all enemies; typically, enemies larger than giant boars (you'll know them when you see them) aren't susceptible to this, as are enemies that are particularly inhuman. The second method can be done via a gun stagger; while you can use a gun to interrupt or stun most enemies at any time a proper gun stagger is performed by shooting an enemy just as they are about to hit you with an attack; this will also result in them keeling over with an echoing thud sound and like the first version, get up close and use a regular attack but like the first, this won't work on particularly gigantic enemies, nor can every attack be properly staggered. The third method is the one that is used on the giant enemies, and this includes many of the bosses; this method involves dealing enough damage to a particularly vulnerable part of the enemy's body (usually the face) and when you deal enough damage you'll hear that telltale sound again that tells you to go up and let er rip (their faces off).

Don't give up.

I'd never played a Souls game and when I played Bloodbourne I hated it.... loathed it, thought it was the most unfair, un-fun, ripoff I'd ever played. Then I stuck with it and it clicked. It's terribly rewarding to play if you get in the right mindset. Push through that first instinct of "this sucks" and it's worth it.... at least it was for me.

One of the most frustrating but satisfying fights I had....

I'm still working on my platinum.... Defiled Chalice Amygdala is kicking my butt. (EDIT:Got my Platinum on 10/25/2015!)

DLC could be a lot of fun though. Hope it's not all PvP focused.

EDIT: Trailer looks sick! Very cool stuff

Well with The Old Hunters DLC right around the corner, Bloodborne is also going to get a patch that adds some new hunter NPCs to the game. They are simply called 'The League':

I love it. Some interesting lore implications and changes due to it, a bit more on the dark underbelly of the Church, and lots of new goodies to mess with. I for one love my pizza cutter weapon. XD2015-11-27 19:21:00
