Voice Chat Really Soft

Archive: 6 posts

The voice chat feature seems to work ok when the output is set to my bluetooth headset (the official PS3 headset) but when I set the output to the speakers, I can hardly hear the people on the other end. I have to turn the volume up stupid high to make out what they're saying. I have a 5.1 speaker set up.

I can hear people through my spearks fine on other games like COD4,WAW, and warhawk. Just not LittleBigPlanet. Any solutions to this?

I have a feeling the voices aren't coming out the centre channel but I'm not certain. Is there maybe a voice chat volume somewhere that i've missed?

Any help would be appreciated

I've experienced the exact same frustrations with this. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any better solution than to stick with the BT headset or turn it up stupid high (which even then doesn't work all that well). I'm fairly sure that the voices are coming out of the center channel, but I'm not certain. Maybe if LBP offered a little more by way of sound output volumes we'd be okay, but as far as I can tell, there's nothing we can do about it at the moment.
Sorry bud.

I use to have the same problem. How I've overcome it is to set the microphone voice output to the earpiece. It's one of the settings in the XMB system stuff.

It means other people in the room can't hear what the other people are saying, but what you hear is crystal clear and of an independent volume to the main sounds from the 5.1 system. You can also turn up (or down) the audio output from the headset until everyone is clear.

I hope this helps. If you are just by yourself when you are online, this should fix the problem. If you have other people who need to hear what's being said though... well, I don't have any easy fixes for that.

The voice is normally output to the headset and that's ok. But my brother and I both have the official ps3 headset and we were both playing with other people in the room so the headset was on the base acting as mic for everyone (nifty feature, try it if you haven't yet) so of course the sound has to be routed to the speakers.

I suppose this issue isn't the end of the world but it's really bugging me now.

anyway, thanks for your thoughts :arg:

Same problem here. It's unfortunate that other people in the same room can't do chat when we play together... but I haven't found any solutions either.

I don't know what channel they are on, but it's still quiet when output in basic stereo so I don't think it's a per-channel volume thing.
