Rotating blocks around a common point
Archive: 4 posts
This sucks. When using rotators or gyroscopes on hologram or sticker panel, you would've thought they'd rotate the objects around their geometric centre since they have no physical properties like weight, right? Nope, it still looks like hologram and sticker panel rotates around the centre of mass like other materials in LBP. This is a problem for me, 'cause I'd like to rotate 2 blocks where they stay aligned after AmazingKittyCat made some cool suggestions to save some thermo in my level. These pics show what I mean: http://i.imgur.com/VuYpo8r.jpg I have 2 equally sized blocks of sticker panel both with identical gyroscopes hooked up to them. http://i.imgur.com/pREBb2R.jpg The blocks aligned with each other. http://i.imgur.com/I9M2vMV.jpg When a gyroscope is activated to turn the object, it soon falls out of sync. The blocks are rotating around different centres when I'd like them to stay aligned. Note that they'll be individually emitted and demitted in the level, so they can't just be glued or bolted together. Possible solutions: Add more sticker panel as a counterbalance or change the block dimensions to bring their centres of rotation closer together. Glue/unglue the blocks together on the fly in play mode. Is there a nicer way to do this? | 2014-04-27 22:55:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
I figured out how to fix Ayneh's problem just to say. It was a classic tag-follower on holo trick that needed to be done was all. *mew | 2014-04-28 01:34:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Maybe if you glue with the advanced glue tool, in a different order then the object's center of mass might shift (who knows, I am only guessing this might work because gluing in a different order has changes on physics with other applications, besides that I wouldn't know another fix besides adding followers) | 2014-04-28 05:55:00 Author: amiel445566 Posts: 664 |

Maybe if you glue with the advanced glue tool, in a different order then the object's center of mass might shift (who knows, I am only guessing this might work because gluing in a different order has changes on physics with other applications I'm guessing the last thing you glue has the most influence or something? I'll give it a go. | 2014-04-28 16:57:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
