Shoot em up! Final version

Hi all, so I made this Level called: Shoot em up! Final version.

Concept: A contra like level with lots of things to shoot and lots of bullets to dodge. Level contains two different bosses, who get harder after they take more and more damage. Yes. This level is intended to be hard!

Story: a simple one. The evil Eye R stupid Group took your television. Get it back. Traverse an elevator while shooting robots, get to the bottom and deactivate the alarmsystem in an hard bossfight. After a brief level crawl, and maybe a cunning trap, the second (?) boss makes an appearance and litteraly tilts the room trying to flatten you while youre trying to dodge all he throws at you. Make it through that and you might be getting close to your television.


Level layout:

The lift: getting down is hard enough! Enemies will drop in from left to right.
The red guy will shoot you, but wont take much damage. The blue guy cant shoot but you cant touch him and he takes a lot of damage. Die and a platform will keep you safe for a few seconds untill the onslaught begins again!

Levelcrawl: a few enemies and blocks are what stand in your way and the first boss. Mind the gap en watch for that blue enemie: he can take a lot of hits and might force you back into the gap!

Bossbattle: A huge enemie makes his apearance. Looks lika an piston of some sort. Shoot both sides (co-op really helps) but watch out. When you kill one side the battle becomes much tougher. After both sides have been destroyed kill the core, but this wont be easy with all those bullets. Keep it cool! A simple puzzle will get you further.

Levelcrawl: some stairs, some taunts and a few enemies stand in your way. Watch your head!

Bossbattle: The eye returns! This time dont spam your attacks. The more you hit him, the harder it becomes. More bullets will appear, the room will rotate and if you shoot him to fast the bullets will still appear while the room rotates which makes it even harder to dodge his crushing attack.

Levelcrawl: At the end you might find a secret bonus, but wheres your television? Shoot the blocks to make it appear, but dont get killed by your own television!

PROBLEMS WHILE MAKING THIS LEVEL

A few headaches where getting the second boss to rotate the room after you hit him a few times. This was acchieved by making a bomb drop on an offscreen switch. This makes the room turn. When the player shoots the boss again the trigger emits a new bomb, destroying itself and the first bomb, releasing the switch and turning to room back to its first position.

The second stretch was getting the guns NOT to shoot while the the room is rotating. This was easily solved by setting the triggers on pistons which quickly move out the way while the room rotates.

The first boss has a third hitpoint which reveales himself after the first two are destroyed. I coverd this with a desolving block so you could not hit it before the first two sides are destroyed and covered it with a flat metal bar so it wasn't visible.

My last trouble was getting the lift to work without it eating up my thermometer. Green triggers would emit enemies while the lift goes down, and apperently the game doesn't like emitting enemies full of emitters and triggers.
But after a few tries and reducing the onscreen enemies I got it to work and still be a challenge.

K, thats all my rambling. Hope you try the level and give me some more hints to make it better!

Did you see the the new hit area reveal himself after you deplete both sides? Its on the bottom of the boss. After you deplete that the boss will die.

(the left and right hitpoints only dissolve after you kill all three hitpoints!)

The only other possibilty is that you did not deplete both sides. It works fine here. If you shoot the left side, the right side will start spraying more bullets. If your you shoot the right side, the left side will start spraying more bullets.

I think you missed a few hits. Works fine here.

I will make it emit puffs of smoke after you kill a side so its more obvious a side is done.

Really strange. Ive updated the boss so it emits smoke when you kill a side. This way its easier to tell if you are doing it right. It even says when you killed a side now.

Tested it twice before and after the alteration and it works fine when I play it.
Would you like to try again to see if you still have the problem?
