the idea is as the piston moves to the left the door folds open and then the piston holding that up moves down and to close it the piston moves back up and then the piston moves to the right. but as the piston is full extended it just collapses

ill try and get a video up and show you whats goin wrong

ok i think i know what you're trying to do here. you want the door to open by being slowly lifted up and hinged on some other part of the ship (or whatever) like this:

or are you trying to get a roof to like accordion fold to one side.

I haven't tried this, but it looks like an accordian effect to me. Pistons ignore other objects, so you could bolt the bits together into a lose straight zigzag than attach a piston to one end and have it go back to the other side. Contracting the piston should (in theory) cause the bits to collapse back on themselves.

Like this, but straighter:

//////

To this:
|||||||

I hope that makes sense, and that I have understood what you are trying to do. Just don't have it dead straight when it's fully extended or it might bend back funny.

I'm not sure but I believe if you use one thick plane and a flat plane, you can use wobble bolts which are connect to the flat plane which are connected with a rod to another flat plane of the next part which is connected with a wobble bolt to a solid line or w/e.

Like this:

Layer 1=a Flat Layer 1=b Wobble Bolt=w Rod=r Things in brackets mean in the same spot

aaaa(abw)r(abw)aaaa(abw)r(abw)aaaa

Hope this helps.

Will.
