This offer probably wont be up for long and most people who read this would probablyalready have LBP, but I thought I'd post it anyway! For those who were wondering this is about $25. http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/3433970/LittleBigPlanet/Product.html2009-02-03 17:21:00

Im quite surprised this is happening. Its a great game but its already going to the same stage of pricing as Rejected games such as Sonic the Hedgehog and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty (No offense to fans but those games did SUCK). Why put such a popular game to such a low price?

Within about 3 weeks of its UK release Shopto.net (http://www.shopto.net/) took it down to 19.99

I know LBP has seen sales that are less than satisfactory for what Sony hoped for when they began funding and promoting it years ago... they've sunk alot of money into it and are pushing it hard. I don't think this is the definite retail price point, just a special... but if other retailers see play.com making quick money with this, they might be inclined to follow suite, like everyone did with Prince of Persia. Retailers mark up prices so much to begin with that they still make a profit even with a game marked down to half price, and if they move ten times more units at a $5 profit, then they end up making more money than they would have selling an occasional copy at full price.

If Sony DID push for a lower price point so soon, it would probably still serve a strategic financial end... they can capitalize on units moved and create a larger install base. By going with the lowest price point retailers are only short changing themselves, as they've already paid Sony for the units, and MM stands to have more customers for future DLC packs which means more quick money for what's already available on PSN and more reliable, long term revenue for what's yet to come.

That's if they actually DO capitalize on it. They've really neglected the US side of PSN as an avenue for retail, and that's been their biggest downfall IMO.

Target recently had a blow-out sale on almost all their PS3 games. Buy 2 get 1 free. Brand new titles were in the mix, including LBP. As long as the purchased games were 59.99 and the free one was no more than 59.99 you were free and clear.

If I'd had some spare funds I would have bought 12 copies of Call of Duty and made a killing lol

...but what I'm hoping, is that retailers are really just trying to clear out X-Mas inventory and really clean house when the times right, and that this doesn't indicate a total downward turn for PS3. It's my platform of choice, because I needed a ackwards compatible console for my PS1 and 2 library, and I wanted MGS4 and LBP on top of other multi-platform must-haves. I'm not ready for a new generation, and I certainly don't want this to be the last Playstation. I really feel that PS3 is the only place left to get a good variety of games that are geared towards hardcore gamers of all types, especially if you take the BC into account, and not just shooter fans and casual players who just want Madden, GTA, Guitar Hero, the newest FPS and quick-fix waggle games.

Not that I hate the other systems at all... I just don't want anybody going the way of Sega, NEC, and SNK.

I got mine in a bundle with the PS3 so I have no idea how much it cost. I'd advise anyone to buy it at that price though 2009-02-03 19:11:00
