Gamespy servers shut down May 31st.

to most pc players, this kinda sucks, especially for me. since one of the games i mod (Halo 1 PC) is one of the games affected by this. Other games include Quake 1-4, And Crysis 1 (and 100s more)

Im sure you will find some petitions for some of your favorite games to move them to something else, 12k have signed the Halo custom edition to steam petition.

Thankfully, if you know the IP address for the server you want to connect to, this won't affect you too much. Or you could just use hamachi or something.2014-04-09 20:26:00

There is also the possibility of someone modding together a patch so that the server browser could work without gamespy. Of course, that would only really work for servers with the mod.

actually, thats in the works for halo ce. theres a mod called Halo Anticheat and when the servers go down it will replace the browser with its own. and it gives the benefit of auto mod downloads too. and you dont even really need the mod to host servers for it since it just replaces the browser and not the mp itself. however i have that on a different halo pc install and i use something called open sauce on my main one, not sure what they are gonna do for that.2014-04-10 00:24:00
