Yup...any hope of this being successful is now gone. I can see facebook moving this away from gaming and turning it into a social thing. Like talking to your facebook friends virtually or something like that. | 2014-03-26 21:03:00 Author: AmazingKittyCat Posts: 204 |
Oculus couldn't have done anything more to completely annihilate their reputation. Since Facebook/NSA is now involved I expect hardware-level data collection and for the device to be completely locked down. Unless it's the dumbest of dumb devices it can't be trusted. Facebook/NSA bought WhatsApp for 20 billion just a couple of weeks ago. I can't help but think that a naive Palmer got sweet-talked by the nice people in suits into selling his company for a paltry amount. | 2014-03-26 22:46:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

One is a successful upcoming rival with millions of users the other is a work in progress piece of tech that has gathered posative feedback but is yet to prove if it has comercial viability. | 2014-03-26 23:02:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
Seriously nobody else gets creeped out by all of this??? Why are companies like this even allowed to exist? I never got into the whole social media craze. Right from the start I thought it was stupid how everyone was giving their private information away publicly. That's the exact opposite of what we were taught to do. In fact, I think everyone who uses social media is a complete idiot. Think the NSA is doing something bad? Well I'm sure google and facebook know more information about you than the NSA could ever dream of knowing, and that's stuff you're WILLINGLY giving to them. Just prepare for the future, where everyone will have microchips implanted in them that transmits everything they're doing to the government (it'll be disguised as a "social" thing, which is just another word for GIMME YOUR INFORMATION NOW) | 2014-03-27 01:46:00 Author: AmazingKittyCat Posts: 204 |

Social media is literally the most stupid idea ever. If you want friends, go out and make them, not talk to them online where everything feels sketchy. | 2014-03-27 03:38:00 Author: amoney1999 Posts: 1202 |

I second this entire post. Social media is literally the most stupid idea ever. If you want friends, go out and make them, not talk to them online where everything feels sketchy. I'm guessing forums and LBP don't count as social media? orz | 2014-03-27 07:09:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
I'm guessing forums and LBP don't count as social media? orz The kind of social media I'm talking about are more blog related and such. Forums I see as more of deep discussions over a certain topic, while LBP is a game with multiplayer features. Multiplayer doesn't exactly classify as "social". | 2014-03-27 07:31:00 Author: amoney1999 Posts: 1202 |
I'm guessing forums and LBP don't count as social media? orz You're not forced to give out your real name/address/info on LBP...although lately I've seen a lot of players with their full names in their usernames, which is incredibly STUPID if you ask me... I wonder what facebook will use Oculus for? Probably stuff like Second Life or IMVU... | 2014-03-27 16:31:00 Author: AmazingKittyCat Posts: 204 |

Yeah, almonds all of you! I don't need you guys! I have real friends! Like... Um... Yeah... I'm just going to go talk to m brother! That's right! ... The one in Australia... And who I can only talk to on Facebook... Hm... | 2014-03-27 16:50:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |

And who I can only talk to on Facebook... Hm... I have come to the conclusion that large chunks of space are stupid. Let's organize a rally to get rid of space altogether! We can only be true as a single entity! Stop the Big Bang! | 2014-03-28 01:53:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
I prefer friends online. At least they can't take out a weapon and kill you online... Well permanently anyways. *mew | 2014-03-28 16:33:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

I hope there's a good story behind this. Besides paranoia? Not really. | 2014-03-28 16:57:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Besides paranoia? Not really. We will provide asylum and security in LPBC, it's within your right as an internet citizen. -_- | 2014-04-01 13:12:00 Author: gdn001 Posts: 5891 |
You're not forced to give out your real name/address/info on LBP...although lately I've seen a lot of players with their full names in their usernames, which is incredibly STUPID if you ask me... If you define social media as where you're forced to use your real name then I guess Twitter doesn't count? I'm just going to go talk to m brother! That's right! ... The one in Australia... And who I can only talk to on Facebook... Hm... Can't you talk over email or irc or something? | 2014-04-03 19:49:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |
If you define social media as where you're forced to use your real name then I guess Twitter doesn't count? Can't you talk over email or irc or something? Irc is a confusing and inhumane mess that is in no way suitable for ease of use And email isn't very useful for an instant chat | 2014-04-03 20:00:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
Irc is a confusing and inhumane mess that is in no way suitable for ease of use Could use the web version I use. https://client01.chat.mibbit.com/ IRC is not as nice as a chat program like skype. But it's also not bad imo. *mew | 2014-04-03 20:02:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
Irc is a confusing and inhumane mess that is in no way suitable for ease of use And email isn't very useful for an instant chat So, you're telling me that you don't use irssi for most of your internet communication? | 2014-04-04 02:07:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
Irc is a confusing and inhumane mess that is in no way suitable for ease of use It's just a matter of configuring your client of choice to auto-connect/join. If your bro is more uneasy about it you could package a portable install for him with everything ready to go. If you use a web client you can typically embed parameters in the URL, e.g. rizon.net/?nick=tehrawk&channels=arrpeegee (https://qchat.rizon.net/?nick=tehrawk&channels=arrpeegee) So, you're telling me that you don't use irssi for most of your internet communication? Funny, we both use the same client. | 2014-04-04 20:10:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

Or I could just not bother with any of that un userfriendly abomination that serves no purpose ebyond making you feel superior. It's about empowering you as a user, you don't have to be under the yoke of anyone to talk to your family. Which options are more or less unuserfriendly, exploitative, insidious and promote narcissism? It's up to you to honestly question that. | 2014-04-04 21:44:00 Author: Ayneh Posts: 2454 |

So again, the only reason to sue irc is to feel "empowered" and superior to the plebeians who don't use irc. Got ya. | 2014-04-04 21:53:00 Author: RockSauron Posts: 10882 |
