That seems like a mighty advantage for the most of us!

Sweet! Now to submit my "Aliens Stole Our Biscuits" level as my resume and proof of my skills and land me a job at MM where I will then slowly integrate my way into the system and then once I've gained the trust of my coworkers and have been given the key to the servers, I will ban all of you who didn't heart me! Muwhahahahahaha. *sinister voice* Vengeance will be mine!2014-03-21 15:36:00

LittleBigPlanet 3? I wish.

The fact that they listed littlebigplanet there is pretty suspicious.

Also the fact that experience in 3d/max/maya is not a requirement, only a bonus. That makes me think the level designers will be using in-game level creation tools...

This kind of goes without saying

I know they hired some LBP designers for LBP2/ Vita and I'm unsure if they had traditional game design skills, so it makes sense they'd want people who can design levels in LBP as it probably translates to their new game. Someone who can use the tools they provide to make good and inspirational levels for their new game.

Though this does kind of make me feel it won't be ready for Christmas 2014... Please at lest officially announce it at E3! XD

Could it be LBP3?
The thing they did with the move controller was amazing, but think of how amazing it would be to use that in LBP. Being able to sculpt your creations and stuff in 3D. I'm hoping it's LBP3 or something similar to LBP...

Media Molecule said a while ago that they are not working with LBP anymore and they sold the rights to sony. It could be LBP-esque though except with 3D sculpting.

Well it's not gonna be LBP3, but it will be even bigger! On the PS4 reveal they already probably revealed the basic concept of it. They said they will use the move controller to let you create more complex things like they showed. They want you to be able to capture and recreate your dreams. And they said you would be able to create levels and sets with it make music and a lot of other stuff. So it's gonna be awesome basically.

You're partially correct, the rights were with Sony as soon as they were the ones funding the game then a few years later MM got bought.

Bit of difference in the designing process between Unity, XNA, Blitz 3D and LittleBigPlanet I feel, so hopefully it's a hint that they are making something similar to LBP, if not the 3 one.

Does anyone know, and i'm too lazy to Google this right now, what games Digital Sumo created or worked on before they were entrusted with our beloved and cared for LittleBigPlanet?

Hello. I am actually interested in applying. This is a very good opportunity. I am what one may call a self-taught designer. For many years I have drawn and designed level layouts, first inspired from Sonic the hedgehog, and then later sketches for my own game concepts. I have great attention to detail, am committed to producing quality products (writing, concepts, music, etc.), have a few larger sketches to demonstrate that I have some creative eye, and a sense of humor (as asked). Of course I have experience with Little Big Planet, and I enjoy composing music and working with others. It seems like a good idea to introduce myself at the very least.

I have a desire to travel, and it is my dream to combine the various interests I have. This seems like the type of experience that I would love.

Yet, I am a first-year student at university, with a high school diploma and top grades. I am not a programmer, and the credentials I have are ones implied by my work, and not a professional degree. However, I have the work-ethic required for such a job, which I would love, and I prefer working with adults rather than those who are younger.

Is it worth it, or would it be an embarrassment. My intuition says to give it a shot, but I am not sure what the best way to introduce myself is.

Would anyone kindly offer his or her advice? Thank you.

EDIT: Maybe it's a little impractical since I'm at university, but I wish to have a chance at changing my life for the better, or at least make friends and gain some information.

It never hurts to try. If they do hire you, you can always transfer to an online university or something and finish in your free time.

That's true. I need to figure a way to introduce the letter without being arrogant. I can't be negative either. ..and I have to make clear that the documents I send aren't game ideas exactly, since MM clearly says not to send game suggestions. I have to make clear so many aspects. This is tricky...haha. I suppose that is to be expected.2014-03-25 04:19:00

The ability to take great ideas through all stages to a finished product.

Hiring game developers really love to see finished game projects and things of the sort. If you're applying at Mm or any other game development position in the future, one of the best things you can add to your portfolio is a video game. When presenting a game in a portfolio, screenshots and videos of your game are great, but easily accessible demos of your game are even better!

Bonus points if you have more than one game project in your portfolio, and if they greatly vary from one another (to show that you're good at new challenges!)

For your letter, you may have a good start by researching what a good letter should look like. The formatting of your resume and CV are very important too. Also remember to have others look over your letter/resume/CV to get good critique and help you find errors.

It's worth a shot. If Mm does reply and say they're interested in your employment, you can go to friends and family at that time for advice for whether you should drop college and go into a career. I personally think professional work-experience can outweigh college education in some circumstances, and this may be one of them.

I applied for the position for the fun of it, as did a couple of friends. They apparently moved forward with a short list already, but if any new position arises I hope to be slightly more qualified (I have some experience with Unity but nothing to really show). My portfolio only consisted of LBP levels, so I'm guessing they're looking for examples of work done outside of LBP as well.

Beyond diversifying my portfolio, is there anything else I should do?

I don't have a finished project...or any sort of project other than my design sketches and ideas, so I suppose that I wouldn't have been able to do much. I am only in my first year of University in the US and I don't have a true resume. Oh well.2014-03-25 22:38:00

Hmm...I don't know how I feel about this...

I doubt anyone with 'only' LBP experience will get this job. I suppose they are looking for people who are serious about game design (going to college and using professional software and whatnot) and play LBP as a hobby. Or if anything, those people will get more priority over the average LBP creator.

But I don't know...they've hired from the community before, but that was to just make levels on LBP...so...yeah I don't know...

Well, I'm still gonna apply anyway lol...

I'm betting if they DO hire someone from the community, it will be someone that has shown more artistic skill rather than logical skill like me...

._. Kudos to whoever gets it though.

...and maybe when you're there you can mention how super awesome comishguy67 is *wink wink* *nudge nudge* *poke poke*

Well I certainly have a distinct style. I do wish that I could apply, but I don't have a true "resume." I could create something that looks like an art piece accompanied by a sincere letter of interest, or at least contact.

Here is a piece of some music that I wrote. What does everyone think?
