Learning a new Language

Archive: 4 posts

Hey guys, I have recently started to teach myself Italian, and the results are ok, I guess. I understand that learning a language will take time, and I won't just wake up and be able to speak fluent Italian. I was just wondering if you guys have any tips r anything when it comes to learning a language. I don't want to take a course in it, because I'm hoping to do that next year, but it will be a Higher level (I think that's the equivalent of A-Level, not sure ). So yeah any tips or anything would be really appreciated, I myself am not very linguistic as I only know English, and some German- but like I said before, any help, advice, or anything would be very welcome! Thanks in advance I guess 2014-03-16 18:39:00

I wouldn't have the patience to learn a language But I have found the few years of compulsory French and German lessons I did at school do help a bit - in Europe at least. I've been to Spain, Italy and Switzerland recently and it's much easier if you have some experience with those crazy euro-languages with their weird word genders and things.

I could have opted to take a language module at uni but I'm too lazy

Like I said Languages aren't really my thing I've always wanted to learn Italian and French though- but I got stuck with compulsory German :/ But if I learn Italian, it would make it easier to also learn French, and move onto Spanish if I ever wanted to. I haven't been around Europe at all really, whenever I go abroad it's normally to America. I would love however to travel across Europe, spending majority of my time of I could in Italy, and France- kinda why I want to learn the languages.
