Should LittleBigPlanet 1 Levels Be Banned?

Archive: 13 posts

Hi Guys,

Does anyone else think that, since it's been a few years since the release of LittleBigPlanet 2 that it's time to stop allowing the importing of LittleBigPlanet 1 levels to LittleBigPlanet 2?

Personally, and this is just me, I've never played a LittleBigPlanet 1 level that someone has posted in LittleBigPlanet 2. It's annoying to be honest as it seems that, even now, when I go to cool pages or newest levels or something, there's still a hell of a lot of LittleBigPlanet 1 levels that are simply just either A.) Copies, B.) Terribly rushed levels, or C.) Kill Justin Bieber levels. I can't really think of any pro's to having these levels, and stopping more from coming should only make LittleBigPlanet 2 more stable in the long run (due to memory of keeping such levels on server)

Do you think it's time that Media Molecule stopped the importing of LittleBigPlanet 1 levels? What are your thoughts?

No. They simply should work on the filters better. Example make it so the game can remember what filter you last left on the last time you played. *mew

Also I hope this topic isn't a complain about cool pages topic. Because we don't like those around here.

Good idea Honestly, I forgot about the filter bar. Does it not safe your preference?

Ha-ha nooo, nothing about the cool pages. I like what MM has done by removing it from the short pages and adding it to the list. Personally, I only really plan Newest levels anyway. Catch the gems early so to speak L(

No it doesn't save your preference that I know of.

As far as the topic. Again no... I might want to pull and old one of mine and update it for LBP2 at some point. Hate to recreate the entire thing from scratch.

As far as finding gems. Best bet is to look at the Level Showcase here and especially our LBPC Spotlights for great new levels. Another great place is checking out the hearted list of favorite/hearted creators via LBP.me. Great way to see what those folks might be playing, hearting or giving a thumbs up.

Thanks, JWW. Will have to have a look at some of the places you recommended

Didn't realize that it didn't save... that's a bit annoying.

I really do understand where you're all coming from, but it does seem to be littered with LBP1 stuff sometimes

Most welcome!

Below is link to a post I made on a "somewhat" similar topic. Keep in mind the OP of that thread was not as open minded and a bit hostile to the cool pages and such. So please don't in any way think this is pointed at you. I just thought it might contain a bit of information you might find helpful or possibly entertaining.

Will give it a look

Thanks, JWW.

Completely off topic, but I've just heard Little Big Land closed down. I've been out of LBP community for way too long it seems

I remember the cool pages always being a hot topic though. Every other topic posted was "How To Get On Cool Pages"; was very annoying

EDIT:

Just read your final post on that link you posted, JWW.

You make a great point. I was not intending anything to do with cool pages by making this forum, just would have thought that, by now, the server would be a little bit cleaner

Age is still a huge diversity on LBP, which is great, of course. I like to go to newest levels, and it's not hard to spot the ones that were made my youngsters, and play them, just to review and give them some positive feedback, as after all, we all hide some terrible levels on our moons haha.

I get both sides. I don't see a reason to restrict it though, even if a lot of LBP1 levels aren't playable (because of slightly changed physics) or as playable. I would see no point of not allowing importing of levels though as remaking levels is quite common and kind of fun.2014-03-16 04:26:00

Yeah, you're right The two above changed my mind on the matter to be honest. I guess because my LBP1 levels were never worth re-creating, I didn't see the fun side of taking an old level and making it a modern masterpiece

Really, I just think it gets slightly annoying seeing all those unfinished levels. I guess because people used to publish 20 levels that were half finished, so when they import to LBP2, you get smothered in half finished levels

Yeah, but that's pretty much unavoidable when it comes to user-created content in video games.2014-03-17 05:09:00
