Title pretty much explains it. What do you think makes a good enemie? Is it easy to kill, diffuclt have an interesting design? Also, before you start making one, how do you brainstorm your ideas? I'm asking this because I can never make good enemies Please help me | 2009-02-02 14:58:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
I think what makes a good enemy is its design. It has to look good. The people in MM didn't put monsters that were chunks of rubber with a brain on it in the story mode. I don't brainstorm my monsters but I have only mad like 1 good monster so... | 2009-02-02 15:27:00 Author: Unknown User |
Well, here's my 2 cents for what it's worth. First, you should think of what it is you want as a creature. Do you want a tank? A dog? A rat? A slinky? This should be your basic idea. In general, people like to have identifiable enemies as opposed to "that round thing with spikes on its arms". Second, you should think of just how your creature will attack the player. Does it have electrified claws? Does it try to chew Sackboy with its spiked mouth? Does it breathe fire or toxic gas? It doesn't need to be extremely elaborate, as long as it's deadly. Third, try to place the brain or paintinator switch in a position that makes it challenging to beat. This generally should be somewhere at the back, under, or at the highest top of the creature. It should be hard, but not impossible to reach. Just don't make it too easy for the player. Last, try to add something unexpected if you can. Players will generally take the time to look at the creature's movement from afar and devise an attack plan from there. If you add something extra when the player gets close it should catch them off guard. Make the creature flail its arms, fire missiles, create a temporary electrified force field, etc. Hope this helps. | 2009-02-02 15:48:00 Author: Gilgamesh Posts: 2536 |
