Where do I get this or how do I make it?

Archive: 12 posts

Took a very long break, and came back yo LBP2 a week ago. I was playing some community levels, when I ran into this bit.

47803

I'm wondering where I get it, or how would I make it? The metal piece would rotate into and out of the walls. I played it on LBP2, and want to use something similar for a level I'm working on.

Any help is appreciated.

Oh that was at L1GhTmArE's spider level. I'm pretty sure those are decorations and the player is actually running on a floor made from invisible material. Using the decoration spinner to move the "floor" outward and then when the floor is out, invisible material is emitted or something.2014-03-14 16:16:00

by the way, since amazingkittycat didnt mention this (in case you dont know) the decoration spinner is part of the new DC Comics dlc (in case you're wondering) but the floor isnt part of that like kitty mentioned, the floor is a seperate element 2014-03-14 16:29:00

that's not from L1ghtmare's level. It's from Gimmi_Yogurt's Arachne's Abode (http://lbp.me/v/qqcwjf7)

Or is it SBG? The rumors swirl, the deco spinner only has 2 functions: on/off and speed scale.

in order to do this it takes some tinkering and lots of rewinding to find the perfect speed. Deco spinners do not move at the same rate as a motor bolt. I.e a motor bolt to spin one full rotation is the same speed as a deco spinner at 315.XXX , unfortunately deco spinners do not move a full rotation within a whole number and batteries dividable do not work properly down to the hundreths when hooked up to a deco spinner. So what u could do is just place a sequencer/timer on it. I believe at .25 Seconds at 315 it will move 90.111 or 89.999 Degrees. It will take a while to go out of alignment. So battery on a chip, that battery is connected to the deco set to speed scale and a timer (set to count down) is connected to the bottom of a selector.. Negative battery to move it counter clock and positive battery to move clockwise. Use a selector to switch back and forth between the chips. So every x amount of time it will power the chip.

now onto the part where it moves in/out based on how close u are is kinda messy and is better with pictures.

I think but not sure, but is the deco from the incredibles pack?

To answer your question regarding how it's made:-

You can make a Decoration Spinner rotate 90˚ using a timer. You will need to set a Count Down timer to the time you want it to take to rotate 90˚, then adjust the speed of the decoration spinner so that it only rotates 90˚ when the timer is activated.

Use a 2 Port Selector to control the Decoration Spinner. Connect the two outputs from the selector to two timers (Count Down timers with the time set to 0.5seconds) and connect the two timers to the two inputs of a Direction Combiner, then connect the output from the Direction Combiner to the Decoration Spinner (Speed set to 315 and Input Action set to Speed Scale).

Now when Port 1 on the Selector is activated the Decoration Spinner will rotate 90˚ in one direction and when Port 2 is active the Spinner will rotate the other way 90˚.

They are pretty tricky to set up, but it's worth the effort for the cool effect.

Sorry for the similar post LIMI, started my reply before you posted.

Good stuff. What's the chances of you accidently dropping a prototype our way?

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I just got the DC pack a day or two ago, and had to work the whole time. Didn't think about using it with emitted invisible material. Thanks for that idea.2014-03-14 23:43:00

He is l1ghtmare....
proof: l1ghtmare published Arachne's Abode as a locked level a few weeks before gimmi yogurts published it....probably for testing purposes.
Using the locked level glitch to play it, it was the exact same level just without any decorations. He probably just tested the gameplay and then decorated it and published it on his gimmi_yogurts account.

I believe he made the account so he could enter the tearaway contest, because he already had a crown from a previous contest and he wanted to win again.

Getting off topic....

Locking. OP's original question was answered.
