Allusions to our beloved Planet!

Archive: 17 posts

So LBP seems to be becoming a reference. We talk about it alot, it's won lots of awards and is viewed as an innovation in the gaming world. So here I am reading about this guy who put up a naughty sounding Rockband band name on Xbox Live (and by naughty, I mean inappropriate!). And the article says:

"it got moderated faster than a Super Mario themed-LittleBigPlanet Level"!

Anyone else read or heard people making reference to LBP as an allusion to something else? Post 'em here if you've got 'em!

... Why were you looking for inappropriately-named bands in Rock Band? XD

I kid. I have to say I haven't seen anything like that yet. I do notice that LBP is getting a little bit more word-of-mouth though.

I have seen so many "Super SACK Bros. Levels" that I'm thinking not......

I haven't seen any allusions LBP-wise but the one you saw was pretty funny

Lol, the original post was on Kotaku, but the content wasn't very E for Everyone so I figured the direct quote was good enough hehe. Anyway yea some Mario levels have been moderated in the past, hence the allusion, but not really anymore I don't think. I wonder if we'll hear more and more references to LBP in the future! Like, "ah man, they gave us a 1.07 style patch for this game and it got all buggy" xD Or "Throw this game in the crap bin along with all the LBP Trophy levels" lol2009-02-02 18:58:00

LBP is one of those games that might not have gotten it's strongest push to the main gaming audience, but when the non-hardcore gamer actually sees it at someone's house... they're like ooohhhh wow, I want one. I need to play this, it's so cute. Wow, I get new levels everyday? etc

I think it will be something that garners more recognition over time and slowly embed itself into the gaming consciouss, moreso than a normal game that either hits or misses at launch. It definitely has the potential to become one of the most recognizable things in gaming.

Not to derail this thread, but I was in a training workshop for the my job last week. A coworker (and devoted xbot) heard me talking about watching dark knight on my blu ray. The first thing he asks me was, do you got littlebigplanet? all my friends are telling me how great it is. Words cannot express the feeling I felt hearing him say this. You know its one thing to jump on boards and talk to you guys about this game, its another when its a big topic of conversation among actual friends and coworkers.2009-02-03 00:01:00

Awesome story man That is a great thing to be able to have live discussions, I bet it's just going to become a regular topic amongst gamers (that own or want to own a PS3 )!

Ookokok my story time.

I'm sitting in religion class, and the teacher walks out of the class to get some stuff. When she leaves, my friend from across the class says to me "LittleBigPlanet Sucks!". Instantaneously 1/3 of the class starts arguing with him!

I shed tears of joy.

Haha awesome, I never talk about games at school, I dunno just don't see it as a good topic to talk about, but even if I did I would probably get people to look at me weird, everyone at my school owns a 360 ( that has a console of course )

Sucks...

I went to the chemist once to get some medication, and the pharmacy assistant recognised me for some reason and remembered that last time I was wearing a World of Warcraft T-Shirt. I was not wearing it then, and explained to him that I had moved on from WoW and now most of my time was spent with LBP. He told me that he actually owns a PS3 as well and has LBP too, but has not designed anything yet and is just focusing on story mode right now.

I happen to have my level design notebooks in my bag, and I show him the schematic for the old version of the small intestine in my digestion level. I think he then realised that you really can create anything in LBP.

I gave him my PSN, he said he had a "Lemon*something something*" PSN, but I have not received any invites or notices from anyone with that sort of user name...

Ah well, maybe I will see him again one day in that Pharmacy.

Lol, nice story Elbee That reminds me of one too

My friend from Ohio was tellimg me this (my PSN friend ). His Brother in law (husband of sister, is that right? anyway) He comes over to his place and my buddy starts talking about LBP with him. The brother says he was at a friend's house that had the game and was playing this really challenging wheel level that you have to grab on and propel yourself higher and higher etc. So my friend says to him, wait is it like green and orange and has like water-wheels with sponge on the tips?... Lol, turns out it's my Going Up level he was talking about haha, go figure!

Not to derail this thread, but...

TOO LATE!! lol.

Since we're already off-topic and I have no allusions to speak of to get us back on track, I'll share a story. A gamer buddy of mine came over one day to check out Killzone 2 when I was beta-testing it and was highly impressed. He's an XBox and Wii owner and was very impressed with his first introduction to seeing the PS3 working in person, but was unsure that KZ2 was enough of an amazing game to warrant buying ANOTHER gaming platform as the cost is high and his cash flow.... not so much. So we're sitting around yacking away and drinking a few beers when I throw in LBP. His eyes completely light up and he's all "What is THIS!? This looks AMAZING!!". Every time he comes over now instead of watching movies, he always hints that we could play some LBP instead... if "I" want to. Hehe... he's completely hooked, and has recently talked about putting some money aside ever paycheque for a PS3 and LBP.

Welcome to the BIG WORLD....
