Welcome everyone to the latest Episode of the Spotlight featuring levels posted in the Level Showcases and Recommendations forums in the past fortnight. A big thank you to everyone who rallied round and posted recommendations for us to try. We had great fun replaying some old favourites and discovering some new ones too. Great job and keep them coming xD

A couple of bits of good news to announce. First, we are very happy to welcome yugnar to the Crew. He will be playing and reviewing Vita levels for us. Awesome to have him on board!

Secondly, Cogmonkey has very kindly put together a really cool video showcasing the levels featured in the LBP2 Spotlight. It’s awesome of him to do this for us and we hope you enjoy sampling the spotlights this way. Cogmonkey is very keen to get any feedback on the video, suggestions for improvements, what you would like to see featured etc. so please let him and us know what you think! He will also be uploading the full videos for each level over the course of the week. A big thank you to him for doing this! Just a note to say that the Ghost Ship is not included in the video because we only reached a final decision on that level late in the day due to erm...OHLOOKANOTHERSQUIRREL!

Without further ado, on with the Spotlight!

FROM THE LEVEL SHOWCASE:

http://ic.lbp.me/img/bl/c0c88c61c9205a8908f9b769a830e8896e8c1afd.pngThe Ghost ShipPsyclownpathDuring the "Black Plague" epidemic, a team of researchers were sent out to sea to discover a treatment for the disease, however their safety once again became threatened when the Black Plague joined them onboard their ship, leaving only one survivor. Not recommended for the squeamish.
She may be as big as the Titanic but this ain't no ship of dreams. Well, bad dreams maybe. Climb aboard the SS Get Me The Heck Out Of Here! and experience a rich and creepy atmosphere like no other. Seriously, you'll constantly be looking over your shoulder and with every little noise spin around going, "whatwasthat?" You are the soul survivor on board this ship and very much wish for this nightmare to be over. As you sneak about trying to avoid the plague victims, you have one thought on mind. I. Must. Get. Out.They are out to get you! You find yourself alone on a huge deserted ship…well deserted except for whatever horror it is that lurks in the darkness, intent on your destruction. Poignant notes from the crew only add to the growing sense of dread. How on earth are you going to make it out alive!?! This is a fantastically atmospheric level; it will genuinely get your heart pumping as you scurry through the bowels of the rusting ship, jumping at every moving shadow and hearing the pounding on the door and watching it shake in its frame…too creepy for words! This is a cracking ghost story set in a wonderfully detailed, decaying ship. There are some clever environmental puzzles, plenty of stealth gameplay and some spine chilling thrills to be had. Just try not to panic and you’ll be fine…

http://i2.lbp.me/img/bl/d62fc4c535473c8248c901e916b37a9e6fb105f5.pngDUNGEO N DAY [1 player only]Benj21000It's Dungeon Day ! It's time to explore an old, huge, dark dungeon, defeat the Boss and get the treasure. Have fun ! 1P only.
It's been a while since I've played a good "dungeon crawler" type game, so when I played this level it reminded me of why I loved them so much. Warning: Exploring this dungeon could be hazardous to your health, but if you're lucky enough and brave enough, untold riches could be yours. This dungeon is as a dungeon should be, it's dark, it's dank, and it's beautiful. Manoeuvering around here can be tricky though as you'll encounter many locked doors that require specific keys, pesky walls that can only be destroyed by well placed bombs, oh, and let's not forget some bad guys who really would rather you NOT find the treasure. So, if you're in the mood, grab your dusty fedora and whip and get in there and show 'em who's boss! Played this, Loved this, and will enjoy recommending this to others!! A damp dark dungeon in some words could be said is a full fledged "Guantlet" turned platformer. A great escape for those looking for an excellent place to explore and implore your brain for sure. Cause to make your way to the prize at the end, you must gather keys strewn throughout this dark and musky place that's riddled with nasty wizards and ghoulish fiends, but don't worry you'll garner a few extra abilities to help you along your way. So this is what a dungeon crawler is like! I’ve always wondered. Well I might just have to start looking out for some more of them to play, if this is anything to go by. I had a great time exploring the winding corridors and halls of this dungeon, which managed to look both suitably dark and dungeon-like and somehow gorgeous at the same time. There’s a great sense of decaying grandeur and richness about this dungeon, what with the stained glass, carved pillars and crumbling statues. I’m not surprised there’s treasure secreted in the heart of it. You will have to work hard to find it, though. It’s hidden behind a series of locked doors which only open with colour-coded keys and it’s defended by some fierce guards too. All in all, an enthralling and brain teasing adventure awaits you, full of traps, oubliettes (always wanted to use that word!) and flying daggers! If that doesn’t whet your appetite then there’s something wrong somewhere.

http://ia.lbp.me/img/bl/bfae270d053f5cbaaa5a6d5571a84896de115010.pngDark Earth Chapter One (1P ONLY) (alpha) By UnexpecterUnexpecter[PLAY IN DARK ROOM] Story of a lone survivor on destroyed Earth. What's behind this catastrophe? And is there a way to heal the world? Long journey for the truth just begins. This is alpha version, so you'll encounter bugs and glitches everywhere.
Thanks for Unexpecter for blowing my head off! Instant WHOAH right when I got acquainted with the environment and the dark ambiance feel throughout the journey! Playing it with the lights off definitely increases the immersive experience as you go across a city with a gun that has a flashlight and laser pointing attachment and enjoying a great story at the same time. Hit me up with more of the awesome visuals with that kind of detail and I'll be set in LittleBigPlanet for quite some time.If there is one person in LBP who could really suck you into a level it is definitely the Unexpecter!! This level is wicked crazy good. Man, I loved blasting away all the zombies and such, the animations were uber cool and so is the environment. Why am I just mentioning the environment now, if anyone knows Unexpecter they know his ability to created environments that just suck you in and grab ahold of you as if they had hands of a Sasquatch. In conclusion, this level is riddled with eye popping graphics, excellent gameplay, and an opening that will just leave you breathless.*reads Hyper's review* What! *calls my lawyer, Saul* "Yeah, unauthorized use of my patented 'Whoa!.' I want justice! What? No, he didn't spell it the same. Well shoot!" Next time Hyper, next time. Alright, now that that's out of the way. WHOA! I've long been a fan of Unexpecter's but man, he completely caught me off guard with this one. I mean, if this is the "Alpha" version, I can't wait to see the full version. As Hyper said, the atmosphere is incredible. So many little details help to create this lonely environment and just when you think things are going ok, BAM! You better buckle up because this ride gets bumpy. Man, play this level!

FROM RECOMMENDATIONS:

http://id.lbp.me/img/bl/d8d5caca792c70848ea6f9ab4e1c9f98d4a22755.pngThis song for GodkoknsunThe Pieta(1498-1499) is a masterpiece of Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo Buonarroti , housed in St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. The concept of this lvl is one of the legend of Christ reborn. best for1~2p worst & terrible happens for 3~4p x( (sorry... there are cases where the sculpture of ending isn't displayed well ;( )

Koknsun, you have given me unbelievable experiences and pure enjoyment from your well made levels ranging from both quality and quantity! I am honored to write a review for this level, and you NEED to be noticed more, goodness you need a Sackie! I guarantee when you play this level for the first 30 seconds you will be hooked to it and the way it is executed it just very ambitious! Just when I think the level is over more and more happen and the design is pure art! I do not want to spoil, I do not want to budge, but please take some of your time to try this out. This song for god is also the best song I have heard in LBP, and yes I am speaking metaphorically. But this is also a song of prosperity - the magic will sing to you and it is time for you to play the song. This guy never fails to impress me. Each and every time I play one of his levels, there's always this moment when I stop, stare at my screen and let out this whispered, "Whoa." This level is absolutely brimming with gorgeous, intricately designed machinery whose purpose is to convey you ever higher to your goal. Actually, the entire level is like one giant contraption full of platforming goodness. Climb it and you will experience some of the most beautiful art you can find around LBP. No matter your religeous preferences, you have to see this level and appreciate the hard work that went into crafting this well made masterpiece.Koknsun is one of the unsung heroes of LBP. A true craftsman, no an artist. Playing his levels is like being part of a work of art; you touch buttons and pull levers and magic happens, beautiful set pieces unfold before your eyes. It’s not a passive experience at all, however. There’s some tricky platforming thrown in as you battle your way upwards , building more and more intricate structures filled with jewel-like colour and rich decoration. I may have said this in an earlier review but at times you feel as if you’re looking into a particularly lovely kaleidoscope! I think one of the ingame level reviewers put her finger on it when she said that he is one of the few creators who makes you love the cutscenes in his levels! Anyway, as ever, it is all accompanied by some glorious music and builds to an impressive finale which I won’t spoil. Do please play this level! It's medicine for the soul.

http://ic.lbp.me/img/bl/0ecf4e0d92e29bc85880c768f79c2bab26558ef9.pngThe Heistbigsurf77 "The Heist" is a cape based level. Get out of the bank, as soon as possible! Can you escape before the police arrives? ----- [Difficulty: Medium - Hard] ----- Special thanks: Music by @buddydestruction
Now I am sure our parents always tell us "stealing is bad" and "you can get in big trouble" as we grow up. But, no one said creating a level when you have to run away before the police arrives with cape-based and wall-jumping game play is not allowed. Of course : [B]don't try this in real life because sadly we can not wall jump (but that would be totally awesome!) and we would get arrested. The heist is a fantastic level with some really awesome thrill to it and you will have a lot of fun!I tell ya, this level is more fun tha a pillow fight on Saturday night! Have I told you how much I love the Hero Cape? I love love love it! I just don't think I could ever get enough of gliding around levels. My apologies, I'm getting a bit off track, as usual. This level! Yes, this level is quite enjoyable. You've committed a heinous crime and have been caught the act. Alarms are blaring and now you have to make your daring escape. We've seen lots of "cape" levels already, so we pretty much get how to use the thing and what to expect. That's one of the reasons I loved this level is because the cape is used in a few new ways and it's a blast! Play it.

http://id.lbp.me/img/bl/99d01f3f0e61eb382602ac7ecf5cf66717980860.pngAlasto r : Enemy Of hopeninja-RHi , I have created this level , in parallel with the level of Anatheme, the hero of his level is the enemy of mine... it make a link between his and mine // salut j'ai cree ce niveau en parall?le a celui d'Anatheme, le hero de son niveau est l'ennemi du mien, cela cree un lien entre nos deux niveau ... allez jouez le sien a la suite ... 1 PLAYER
Instant Assassins Creed nostalgia spread through my body after the begining of the level. Play as Alastor (a really awesome Assasin name in my opinion) as you swiftly make your way slicing guards and dashing all across the map. Alastor comes equipped with some neat attacking skills especially this charging move which also cleared out some obstacles and even make your enemies float in the middle of the air around you and you slice them down. If you are a fan of the Assassins Creed series, I am sure you will enjoy this awesome adventure!Take 1 part, kicking butt take names later with 1 part kick even more bad guy but and you get an instant hit that makes you beg to Ninja-R gimme more and more, well at least 1 more!! I did not want this to end, the moves were executed flawlessly, loved the way those fur necked covered goons would bounce back when struck with a wicked Ninja jab or the dash effect was laded with a faden image of yourself.

http://i1.lbp.me/img/bl/de195a1d78a124d7257f4e39c77a5d5196faed15.pngLittle Canyon (platformer)otkrgm_4Platformer * Artistic * Sackbots * Long * Challenging
Who the heck is OTKRGM_4 and why have I never played any of his/her levels before!! I had some reserve going into this level cause I have actually been to a place called Little Canyon and I left there with a nasty tick stuck to back of my thigh and nearly go bit by a poisonous snake. With all that aside I am glad this dusty adventure loaded up to redeem canyons everywhere. A great adventure thru some rough tundra that is very multi-player friendly, so grab a partner and head on down to the Greatest Little Canyon around, while there snap some photos.Unlike Leems here I have a definite soft spot for canyons. Canyons levels always bring back such great memories of LBP1 goodness and this one is no exception. But it’s not just a nostalgia trip! otkrgm_4 has some clever new platforming ideas and you’ll need pretty precise timing and good reflexes to get through some of it. It’s explosive stuff too, as platforms disappear from under your feet with bang, burning boulders trying to run you down and teetering rocks flip you every which way. otkrgm_4 has even managed to put his own stamp on the canyons setting and the level looks fantastic with the gameplay weaving in and out of some awesome stylised rocky outcrops, all bolted and pinned together and featuring some very cool stickering. It’s always a pleasure to play a level as well-crafted as this one. otkrgm_4's levels are just getting better and better with each one he/she publishes; definitely a creator to watch out for!

http://i9.api.vita.lbp.me/img/bl/50956b24a70596056d3fb181cc497c81c2e3ee7b.pngBe My ValentineDJAkbarIs love possible? It certainly isn't easy in a world that gets more complicated by the minute. How much will you invest to help the two characters of this game to find their happiness? You are controlling both characters simultaneously through the many obstacles of the 20+ levels in this beautiful silhouette platformer. I created this level as a Valentine's gift for my girlfriend but of course I want everyone to be able to enjoy it.
Right when you thought you'd seen it all in LBPV, there is always a creator who manages to impress you with creative, fun, and original ideas. DJAkbar does just that with his newest level, mixing a simple gameplay mechanic in apparently easy puzzles which get harder and harder as you go on in this adventure to reunite lovely sack-couples. Whether you're still in the Valentine Day's mood or not, this Arcade-style game will surely impress you; and it definitely was an excellent gift from DJAkbar to both his girlfriend and the entire LBP community.Hubbie. Will you be my valentine? And now we wait... for a reply. Meanwhile, I'm going to talk about this level as a story of two who are separated and must become together, through a series of levels of course! You control both sackthings at the same time and the movement can be tricky which makes this level so much fun to play. You are in a limbo-esque environment telling a love story through your thumbs, precise timing and environmental advantages as their fate is in your hands. And hubbie still did not reply. . . MY LIFE HAS NO MEANING ANYMOAR!

Do not let that crazy description fool you, silly sackpeople. SlurmMacKenzie is delivering yet again an excellent platformer full of new ideas, attention to detail, graphics, balanced difficulty, bubble combos... And LASERS! What else can anybody ask for? You can recognize a lot of creation experience in levels like this, and it is a joy to play once and again trying to reach a higher score every time. What are you waiting for? Did I mentioned the LASERS?! Go feed your queue! When Slurm fires his lazers, I am forced to dance. The dance of avoiding the pesky colored red set in a poised direction that zaps you silly unless you use to platforming skills to avoid them. Ah! OK that's it, no more sophisticated words. You got lasers that pew, you got fun platforming gameplay and use of touch and vita features. Whether it may too hard or too easy for some, this is the type of training one needs to be a master thief in LittleBigPlanet. I never get tired of Slurm's levels, and I hope you have fun 'Slurming' (lawl, see what I did there?) your way through this awesome challenge.

Talk about a sense of adventure and detail all in one place! A wonderful experience where you start from your snazzy looking home in the future and end up going on a wild--yet so full of quality--journey where you do to find some awesome treasure! The story is exciting and unexpecting at times which changes the direction of what you go through in the level including nice use of touch controls and operative vehicles as game play elements. The tale is also heartwarming and without any spoilers you will see why at the end. Enjoy a great level full of great visuals, various gameplay elements, and a great deal of WIN!Holy sacks. Nitro-Arts7472's first LBPV level is probably among the best out there. Right as you dive in to this masterpiece, you will find unbelievable attention to detail, and therefore gorgeous graphics, awesome contraptions, a cool story and fun gameplay elements. It isn't short of originality by any means: Nitro manages to create fun underwater gameplay sections, a thing that is very weird in LBP levels lately. You cannot possibly ask for more in this level. Bravo!

Sackbot Circuit IGP

Somewhere in Da Vinci's Hideout is the IGP's fan favorite track, Right Angle tangle Crafted by Da Vinci himself. Hope you mastered drifting !
Cogs, corks, wooden machinery and tons of other complicated stuff. Yay! It's Da Vinci's Workshop all over again. I hope you're as excited as I am to see the classic workshop brought into Karting. You'll be putting your drifting skills to use here, so be sure to give it all you've got!
Adding a spice of challenge to a track is never a bad thing, and drifting every 90 degree angle you see along a race coated in a DaVinci atmosphere is a really enjoyable experience. It is definitely refreshing to see this creator recreate known themes and worlds across the series in Karting, and it comes to show what they could look like if they were built in a 3D canvas, especially the inventive galore of DaVinci's theme.

He is one of my favorite creators, well a little greater than that. I love how he structures his levels and the meaning and aura behind them are powerful!

Yeah. I mean... I don't really have a clue what's going on in his levels most of the time, but they're so gosh darn beautiful and unique, I don't really care.
