Level challenges / the lbpc scoreboard?

Archive: 9 posts

I'm just thinking out loud, curious to see what the lbpc community thinks. I am a big fan of challenge levels and I think its fun climbing scoreboards, but even more when you'really doing it with friends! LBP VITA has a cool near feature where you can post a challenge score for people to try and beat, but its still pretty anonymous.

so has anyone created a score-based challenge circle before? I imagine it would work like this:
1. ppl submit fun challenge levels, we pick one
2. anyone who wants to participate drops their psn in the thread
3. after some amount of time (3 days? 1 week?) we check the scoreboards and make our own scoreboard on the thread featuring just the participating players in rank order

What do you think?

Sounds like a cool idea, I love trying to beat peoples' scores. I think the "challenges" in LBP HUB will make this kind of thing easier but for now it would be fun to do maybe weekly challenges ourselves 2014-03-02 01:24:00

Nice idea. I'll suggest some levels that nobody in the world can beat except for me. XD

Although there isn't really a way to know if someone cheated or used a glitch or something. Like...let's say a friend of the level's creator entered the contest...and the creator told them about a top secret shortcut that nobody else knows about.

I hadn't heard of that feature, that sounds great! I was already looking forward to LBP HUB but now I can't wait!

Good points, I guess it'd be hard to prevent that kind of thing from happening. At the end of the day tho, it's just friendly competition right? So if someone was gonna cheat i don't think it'd be the end of the world (if they figured out back-doors for every event, then I might get annoyed... but what are the chances?)

Anyway does anybody have a good suggestion for survival challenges? The most recent one I found myself playing over and over is Gal-Axis, which has a deceptively tricky tilt-control scheme going on. I'll post the page for anyone who's interested. My current high score is 281,200 XD http://lbp.me/v/qn9tcbq/scores

If we good list going we should set this thing going! Do you think it would make sense to start a new thread or keep it going in this one?

Probably best to start a thread in community contests, information about the current challenge in the first post and a "hall of fame" - a list of previous winners. You could just edit the first post every week or whatever with the new level and to update the winners list

Like, create an LBPC Scoreboard based on scores in a set level?

Sounds like fun, actually.
