Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past two weeks, you probably know that Twitch (internet streaming website) is playing Pok?mon Red. Currently they have played for two full weeks (14 days) and 8 hours. The trick is that everyone who watches the stream can comment a button and get their input into the game. Of course, considering there are about 25,000 people minimum watching and partaking in the game all the time, it's quite difficult to not only get your own voice through, get through a command that matters and actually see it before the note about it goes into oblivion. Today was my lucky day, though! After beating Giovanni and embarrassingly being defeated by BLUE afterwards, the players collectively decided to go grind to make the team's weaker Pok?mon, namely AIIIIIIRRR the Lapras and Prophet Helix before moving on to the Victory Road. I got my input into the game while we were reading the Sacred Texts of S.S. The current team consists of AAABAAAJJS (Pidgeot), AATTVVV (Venomoth), AAAAAAAAAA (Nidoking), AA-j (Zapdos (yes, 60,000 people about collectively caught Zapdos)), AIIIIIIRRR (Lapras) and Helix the Almighty (Omanyte). It is a bit late but it's still pretty much the most amazing thing the internet has done for a while I usually have it open in a tab somewhere and occasionally I get involved. Hard to tell if I've made any real difference though

Pokemon can because of it's very slow pace, allowing for 70,000 people. Also, all the possibilities for new story due to nonexisting characters, as well as possibilities for permanent failures (such as losing pokemon or items), which heightens the tension. I really don't think Tales or any other JRPG for that matter would work in this format.

It doesn't bother me that a Tales game wouldn't work on Twitch, but it's still a cool thought.
