Endless rotations!!!

Archive: 10 posts

When using a joystick rotator on a piece of hologram, attached to the right thumbstick of a controllinator the hologram keeps on spinning endlessly after you stop aiming with the thumbstick. Unfortunately, unlike other rotators and movers, the joystick rotator doesnt have a dampening/deceleration setting. Is there any way to create a mechanism which might stop the rotations after the joystick rotator has no input signals? (other than using a gravity tweaker with 100% dampening, because the hologram still needs to be moved by the left thumbstick)

thanks

Just tested this, probably a better way to do it but it works:

Link up both up/down and left/right of the right stick to a NOR gate, then connect that to a counter set to 1, connect the counter to its own reset switch and a 100% dampening anti grav tweaker. This setup will pulse the anti grav when you let go of the right stick, which will stop the rotation. It will stop the movement of the hologram as well but only for like a frame, and if you have 100% acceleration on your mover it's not noticeable.

But like I said there's probably a much easier solution (just noticed this is in vita help, I tested this in LBP2 but I guess it should work the same. Can't be bothered to boot up LBP on my vita to check)

EDIT: Or maybe have the NOR activate two rotators that spin at the same speed in opposite directions? If something like that works it would remove the need of any anti grav stuff.

CogMonkey's solution using a NOR gate is probably the best way to go.

If you attach the NOR gate to a Rotator set to zero rotation speed and 100% strength you will stop the hologram spinning (when you release the right stick) and still be able to move the hologram around using the left stick.

More solutions:

set the joysticks horizontal and vertical coutputs to NOR gates hook those gates up to an AND gate which is hooked up to a 100% dampener. When both are off the rotator will stop.

also, u could try hooking up both the vertical and horizontal outputs to an inverted AND gate and see if that works. I think this will also do the same as above but with less logik but my brain is fuzzy.

I think you can just use an antigravity tweaker with the dampening on 50. This will allow the object to decelerate after and you can still move it around2014-03-01 01:06:00

Does it spin very fast or does it just... spin?

If it just rotates slowly, my right stick ISN'T broken. YEEH!

But wouldn't that stop vertical/horizontal movement as well? That's why I suggested using a counter to pulse the anti grav.

For the and gate to activate both vert and horizontal must be off.2014-03-03 19:09:00

This is the closest to the best solution posted yet, but it can be even simpler!

So you have the joystick rotator on the hologram, and I assume it's set to 100%. Well, just put a rotator on the hologram, and set the speed to zero, acceleration/deceleration to 100%. Amazingly, you're finished. No wiring necessary.

It's not well known, but the strength of various tools is not determined solely by the acceleration and deceleration settings, but also depends on the speed. This means that the rotator with a zero speed will be weaker than the joystick rotator, and will be over-ruled when you give inputs to the joystick rotator.

If your joystick rotator is set to 70% acceleration, just dial back the zero-speed rotator to have the same 70% acceleration and deceleration.

Wow, that is new to me, awesome compher, this simplifies so freaking much. I assume this also works for followers, movers, gyroscopes, look at rotators, etc?2014-03-10 16:07:00
