Cptcha Code doesn't work at Registration

Archive: 27 posts

Heyo,

got to report a little bug. A friend of mine is trying to register at Central but he gets the messege, that his Captcha Code would be wrong - i also tried it myself and got the same problem. Is this already a known issue?

thanks a lot,

Shagg

I'm pretty sure it's known, there's been a lot of issues since the site came back up a couple of months ago. Looks like the last person to successfully register was in December 2014-02-24 20:58:00

Yeah... we know. Getting someone with the proper access to do something about it has been a challenge lately.

Wish I could do something, but I am stuck.

Could always go and help Taffey to finish moving in

But seriously, why isn't CC around? I thought he came back because of all these problems?

I could, but my work and the 2250 miles one way to get there makes it a bit impossible right now. lol

We have been attempting to get in touch with CC. After he fixed things this last time, he hasn't been responding to email. So I really have no clue. We just keep trying and hoping.

Well, that's... Nice. Idk, honestly I feel like this place just hasn't been well taken care of recently... I'm still here cause I can't leave, but still :/2014-02-24 23:19:00

Ummm... the mods are still here and I think we are doing pretty good. We can't help it if the admins are not.

Simply put, we are doing the best we can under the circumstances.

Sorry, don't mean the mod team. You guys are doing fine. I mean, again, the administration. Idk, just something I've felt recently, ignore me2014-02-25 00:01:00

I still find it crazy that for years the admins of this place have been some of the most inactive members I thought having 2 admins would help but apparently not

Nothing against Taffey or CC, I know one of them has a good excuse for recent inactivity and the other probably(?) does, but I can't help but think that with such a super active super great mod team a promotion or two wouldn't go amiss...

You and me both...

We keep sending flares, but not sure what happened to CC. Hope he is ok.

Wow! I didn't realize what was the problem behind this lack of membership, but now I see. Also, I must agree with those of you who have pointed out the need for stronger admin support and such since that is the ultimate downfall of a fansite.2014-03-08 14:31:00

We feel terrible about it and wish there was something we could do, but our hands are tied. 2014-03-22 00:24:00

So the issue lies with the Capcha software not accepting codes?

I thought this place seemed a little quiet, in comparison to what it has been

Also, has anyone tried disabling cptcha? Temporarily to see if the problem goes away

Well... that is the problem. As mods, we don't have access to the inner working of this site. We are patiently waiting for our admins to basically do just that, or at least look into if something is wacky with how it is enabled. I suspect it is something simple such as it incorrectly comparing variables to what you typed in.2014-03-23 15:20:00

Ah I understand

If, and I am only guessing here, they use PHP, changing $cfg->captcha_on_register_form = false instead of $cfg->captcha_on_register_form = true will completely disable cptcha. Then, reboot the site, attempt a registration. If that works, re-insert $cfg->captcha_on_register_form = true and see if the problem has resolved itself

EDIT:

But as you say, if no one can get there, it's pretty pointless knowing :/

Exactly.. it isn't the knowing that is the problem. Access is the issue here.

Thanks though!

Has anyone tried contacting vBulletin about it and explaining the problem?
It's an admin's job to deal with situations like these, so obviously you need different admins because they can't do their job...

That sounds very sinister, Rabid Nobody wants LBPC to disappear. I was brought to a great deal of sadness lately when I learned LBL had closed its doors.

Any help you need JWW and other mods, let us know, regardless of what it is (I'll even run and get the coffee), as I know none of us want this forum to close

The registration issue seems to be fixed. If anyone does have problems, please pm or vm one of the mods so we can look into it further.2014-04-04 02:08:00
