Karting Kommunity : What would you like to see?

Archive: 27 posts

Hey there fellow Karters!

Sometime soon LBPKarting is going to reach a whopping 200,000 levels!

There has been a major increase in activity and I know there are very amazing and talented creators still playing the game, many of which are hidden gems!

There is an itch on my forehead and I must ask, what would you like to see in LittleBIgPlanet Karting along with the community?

No, no I am not talking about bug fixes and such - but something community driven such as forum events and etc..

LittleBigPlanet Karting has potential on its own, and it is a fun and enjoyable LittleBigPlanet game!

Let us know what you want to see! As a community together, we can make a huge positive change!

-More tutoriel from the community.

-More recommendations (if someone knows hidden levels from hidden creators?)

PS: where did you found that number 200.000 levels on LBPkarting?

Tutorials seems like a good idea! What kind of tutorials would you like to see?

It is highly encouraged that players should recommend awesome levels they stumble upon in Karting! Let your Karting friends know to recommend their levels or other levels here!

PS: where did you found that number 200.000 levels on LBPkarting?

If you go to lbp.me, there is a section to go to the LittleBigPlanet Vita and LittleBigPlanet Karting side. It also shows the amount of levels published! It's at 175,009 at the moment I imagine it won't be long! So close!

What do you mean with a major increase activity? In the game or in the forum?

To encourage people creating more (good) level, i have the feeling that there is a lack of basic tutoriels.
What i would like to see is how to create an hyperrealistic object for example.

I assume i could have made some tutoriels but i can't make it in video. I'll try to make some tutoriel for example how to make a tornado or how to write a text not in in box with the magic mouth like in my last level. But i will do it written.

What would be great too is to find a way to make people coming from lbp2 to lbpkarting. I don't just know how.

In the game, there are a lot more levels being published and there a lot of people playing other levels!

Yes, that would be a great idea. Just as long as we keeping adding fuel to the LBPKarting fire, I'm sure more people would stop by!

Having tutorials like you suggested and play sessions via livestream like sirr suggested are great ways to start!

If you know any in-game karting fans or karting fans from other sites, feel free to tell em to stop by on this site as well!

Tutorials are fine and dandy, but really when people say they want to see tutorials. A lot of what they mean is "Can X show me how they made Y."

Better way to phrase it would be for people to be more vocal on track threads. ASK the creator of certain tracks how they made Y thing. In fact being more vocal when people post a track needs to be a thing. I know people play the tracks that get posted, and I myself am also guilty of this.

Give and take criticisms. Praise the good, but don't be afraid to point out what was bad. No one gets better by being constantly pampered. Nor should one hold a grudge because someone pointed out something your track lacked. Take it as a lesson learned.

Basically, everyone needs to be more vocal. Ask more questions. Post more reviews on the tracks you try. Give and take criticisms and learn from mistakes made. As a Modnation veteren, these are the things that kept that game alive and made many top creators. IndustrialSavior wouldn't have done much if the community didn't poke him with criticisms (Legitimate ones mind you) to get him to want to be better. I would have given up myself if people hadn't pushed me to do better.

So be more vocal, and go post reviews and criticisms on those things you've played recently. Just saying queue'd helps nothing. I will start doing so myself after next week after I'm done with life stuff.

I do admit I say queued quite a lot, haha. These are great tips! I'll be happy to give feedback to those who ask for it and I'll leave my reviews for the spotlight. Keep up the awesome suggestions!

Hey thanks this was great I find myself victim of this too! I've actually felt this way about this. I couldn't have said it any better.

I will start leaving more feedback, my excuse is I'm always so busy creating and doing other things.

Additionally I have no problem, helping making video tutorials on How I do things and
Also I delve into logic and give tutorials and track layout tutorials and things of that sort of thing

Thank you all for your feedback so far everyone, after reading through all of them, the points I noted were:

Livestreaming of LBPKarting sessions
Written tutorials and video tutorials (more basic tutorials recommended)
Getting players to recommend more levels
Giving more honest feedback on people's levels (praise the good note the bad)

Overall goal(s):

Get more people from LittleBigPlanet 2 and other LittleBigPlanet games to come to --or back-- to LittleBigPlanet Karting.

Provide community driven support and passion to welcome others to our community and to check out more awesome hidden gems and give our opinions to improve. Achieve more community activity in the game and outside of the game to show Karting's standing-out potential.

Keep them coming! I'm sure we can take all of these ideas and kick start them into gear!

Yeah, finding good levels in between all the trophy spam can be hard - recommendations and honest feedback are important.
I've talked with a few people about the possibility of Karting contests to boost creativity, but I've always felt that with a game so buggy, deadlines might actually kill the creative process rather than kick starting it.

Personally I prefer written tutorials with pictures as needed over video. I can usually learn a technique faster that way and it's easy to go back later and revisit just certain parts/steps in a process.
I'll be publishing a addition to my Love Bot Kit tutorial soon

Hi y'all ... great to see some support for lbpk .. I'll second competitions tutorials and community races.. i only just get by with logic and cant do in depth tutorials as Ive got no keyboard for ps3 and massive knowledge gaps but happy to help any way I can.. so here's a simple but effective mini tutorial for glitching stuff out of the level.. Do you hate how the edges of your level look all barren... well fear no more... just build your props.. houses, landscapes ect. make sure they're grouped and put them as close to where you want them, then head back into the level, say half way, take a piston, set to 0.1 distance, time full (so u see no movement) and attach it to said grouped prop..u will then be able to move the prop out side the normal creation boundaries .. be sure to not move it so far you take the motor outside the boundary as you can get things stuck out there
.When your 100% happy with were it is you can click on the motor, break group and re use the motor . It really helps you world look so much bigger and more convincing to be sure .. good luck : )

All great advice and suggestions!

Laidbackcat, can you re-write that sweet tutorial of yours in the tutorial thread?

Pookacho, I can not wait for your panda level!

Everything is noted, karting has massive potential and together we can bond the community more than ever!

Schark, I took the idea to mean better reviews and being more outspoken in the forum. However, I've gotten even just a few of those kinds of reviews and they can really take the drive to create out of you. Not sure what you can do about it though.2014-06-16 03:56:00

Have you seen the reviews on my level (https://karting.lbp.me/v/7jhv/reviews?t=created_at)? This is how people thank me for all the hard work I have put into it.

Sure I got the Team Pick, but the people's reaction doesn't really make me proud of it.

A question, do you make the levels because you enjoy creating or because you're after great reviews?

Personally I think it should always be because you enjoy it. I've played your level and because I'm fully aware of the time it must have taken I can be objective. Why does it bother you so much? If the reviews were constructive but critical you just take it on the chin and create something better.

Most of the comments are single word comments meaning, in my view just that, a comment.

Reviews are just opinions and no two opinions are ever the same. Considering the amount of plays and the fact it was team picked I would've taken as praise enough

I agree with you that reviews should be helpful but I'm quite happy to accept criticism. Ultimately what we're all after is good reviews that spur you on to better things, but you must be prepared to accept that some players may just not like your creation. That's life.

The majority of the people plays just to get the trophy, especially there is some kind of trophy like "leave a comment on a level you've already played". So trophy hunter just leave useless review on team picks level ( because they only play team picked level). I would advice you just to take care about the review from the part of the LBP communty who really creates. Otherwise it make no sense.

But let's get back to the subject of the thread.
Here are the different points we wanted to develop:

Livestreaming of LBPKarting sessions
That's a point we didn't made already!!!

Written tutorials and video tutorials (more basic tutorials recommended)
I have the feeling that there is an increase of tutorial. that's a good point

Getting players to recommend more levels
I think i made my part of the job on that point

Giving more honest feedback on people's levels (praise the good note the bad)
We still have to work on it.

Couldn't agree more gipsy, let's get back to 'suggestions'

I still believe that we should continue with the Beginners Level Tutorials, explaining in depth how to build simple objects, full explanations of logic etc.
I realise we're all busy but, especially experienced creators, should be able to bring their considerable knowledge to help those struggling with their first levels.

No, I create levels for my own pleasure and publish them for the people to enjoy.

I'm sorry, but when someone says that my level is, allow me the quote: "bad", I can't call this constructive criticism in any way. The player didn't tell me why he didn't like it or how could I improve it, that's why I consider such reviews as useless and offensive towards me. Don't get me wrong, I can accept any criticism with no problem, but it needs to be reasonable.

Reviewing is about telling the positives, negatives and the overall assessment, but all I see are random opinions that don't bring anything. Have you seen the reviews on other LBP's? I got less plays on all of my Vita levels together than the one I have on LBPK, but at least people leave some helpful feedback. A well-written review helps you to improve and become a better creator. If someone just throws s*** at my level, I can't call it helpful.

"Reviews are just opinions and no two opinions are ever the same".

I think the whole point is that if you have one word comments that only say "nice" "great" "amazing" "wonderful" then you don't really have any proper feedback at all. These 4 comments all say the same thing = "i liked your track"....... yet all 4 comments tell you nothing at all ! In the world of feedback this is WORSE THAN A JUNKFOOD DIET. What did you like ? What aspects ? What stood out ? Getting people to realize that they should give effort in comments..... just as effort was put into creating something nice for them to play, is key for a healthy environment.

What would i like to see, good question. More people registering with LBPCentral. Don't be a guest. Then you can......

Join in with the forums, there are so many helpful Sackfolk on here to help with anything.

I guarantee they'll have come across the problem you're struggling with.

With absolutely no disrespect to any of the other LBP games, LBPK has an extremely powerful level creation editor, certainly comparable, if not exceeding LBP1 and LBP2. Everyone knows it has glitches, but it still stands out in my opinion. It just never got the support.

So there we are, creators. Time to support LBPK ourselves.

Get yourself registered on here, confer with the dedicated LBPK creators. Make some epic levels and keep the game alive.
