3D Glitch Question

Archive: 7 posts

I've come across a 3D problem that has been frustrating and mocking me throughout my project.

The problem is solvable because i've seen people solve it for me before, however in my ignorance i've tweaked and changed it voiding the solution.

Anyway my problem is when my dynamic train approaches the 3D stone in the background the train cannot pass.

I've seen people use a technique where 2 pieces of hologram/sticker panel are glued then unstuck or something, but i don't have a clue how to do this.

The levels reached a point where, when in multiplayer undoing will freeze the game. So this is why i'm asking here on the forums, it would also be a very beneficial skill since I use the 3D glitch a lot.

Can anybody teach me the technique?

Thanks...

Place a sticker panel so that it is just touching the object you wish to dephysicalize. Glue it to the object.

Place a second sticker panel so that it is touching the first sticker panel, but not the object you are trying to dephysicalize. Glue it to the first sticker panel.

Corner edit the second sticker panel and drag one corner to the opposite corner, which will make the sticker panel disappear. Your first sticker panel and the object are now dephysicalized, but cannot be moved or corner edited. If you want to make edits, delete the first sticker panel to undo everything you've just done.

Comph, im familiar with this tool, very helpful for bubbles at in/out mover spots, etc. But why is the 2nd sticker panel needed. Won't that method work with just one piece of sticker panel? Or is the 2nd sticker panel used in case u want to physicalize the object, ( will deleting the sticker panel that is left behind re-physicalize the object..?)

to the lab I go!!!

re- read what u wrote, so yeah it is best to use the 2 sticker panel method, just for undoing purposes... genius

Precisely. I believe I learned the trick from Luos_83 back in the day, when he was working on some silhouetted factory-like level.

yeah I usually only do it with 1 sticker panel, but then if I have to modify it, I delete and replace, this way I just destroy the sticker panel and redo the dephysicalize!!! nice, ?2014-02-21 13:20:00

Is there a way to do it that allows movement? I'm making a level where the player can move things in several different layers to create a sackboy /costume/avatar...like a nose, a mouth, hair, etc.

So I'm putting each category in different layers and using a flat movie camera so everything looks flat to the player. I guess the other solution is to use a sticker panel for everything like I've been doing...but it would be nice if I could use any material I wanted.

once dephysicalized i don't think movers, followers and such work on it, but its worth a try. just use the 7 layers that were given. set pieces up in dominance order. say body will always be in the back, eyes in the middle layer, hair in 2nd from front, hats in the front thin, etc. that way eyes will always be in front of body, hair always in front of eyes, and hat always in front of hair2014-02-28 13:27:00
