Is it wrong to hate a race?

Archive: 21 posts

So the other day I was watching television, and I saw a race that made me think I really hate this kind. Every time I see them I just want to look away. Is this wrong of me?

Here is a picture of one of them:

"terrible mess"

I thought this is the general chat. A place you can: "Chat about anything you like, as long as it's appropriate."

I think he's asking if it's okay to hate how a racing challenge went, like a racecar challenge or a running race.2014-02-12 19:48:00

I agree with this assessment.

No, it's pretty obvious that's not the joke.

Appropriate being the key word. Even joking about hating another race is not acceptable on LBPC.

If you want the thread is to be about racing or race tracks it can be left but needs to stay on topic.

All sport...
Only running I've ever done is across a pool cover after closing.
Does anyone else remember the bleep test at school?

OH THE HORROR *HIDES UNDER BED*
The only time I liked running was when the bell rang and I wanted to be the first one in the lunch line.

Oh yeah! It is okay to hate a specific type of contest or the way how it went based on the activity of the participants or coordinators. Is it that you hate participating in the running race, or is it that you don't like watching the race?

In this day and age I find it unacceptable that someone can hate a certain race.

Each race deserves to be treated with equality...... regardless of distance.

Ahhh yes, who can forget? Especially the first round when everyone underestimates the speed they need to start off at and end up missing the first bleep.

That must be an Engerland name, because I don't know what the bleep test is.. Are we talking 400 meter dash?

You have to run (as a class) between 2 lines (probably about 20m apart or something). You have to do this before the machine "bleeps". As you progress, the bleeps get faster and faster (the "level" increases). If you miss the beep (it may be a 3 strike rule... can't remember), you get knocked out. This goes on until the last person misses the bleep. It's basically a fitness test and everyone hates it because we would rather just play football or something.

That sounds like something professional athletes would do, but not in gym class..

In my gym class we would run a mile and have to be under a certain time at the beginning of the year. Then we would run it again at the end of the school year having to improve our time. If we went over a certain time then we'd have to run it again.

At my school we had to do a distance run every year, known as "The Jumbles" (due to the area where we ran). I don't think they do it any more though. We'd also have to do athletics once a year - so 100m, 200m, 1500m etc.

I've actually found a page for the bleep test (looks like I was right about my 20m estimation):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-stage_fitness_test

Amazing that Rugby officials have to be at a higher level than some army ranks.
