Welcome to the latest Episode of the Spotlight featuring the brightest and best of the Level Showcases over the past fortnight. It may not be biggest ever Spotlight but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. From a feisty Grandad off in search of his beloved hat to an oldskool adventure with some urban flair and a heady adventure in the clouds there’s plenty on the PS3 side to keep those January blues away and the Vita and Karting Spotlights have lots to offer too. I have to say that Girly Gamble track sounds really intriguing…

Without further ado, on with the Spotlight:

CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG into a fantastic world full of street acrobatics and fun platforming action across multiple levels. Enter an atmosphere with light posts, billboards, ladders, dumpsters and obstacles to cross over while grabbing soda drinks that are placed as collectabes across the levels. For some they are as simple to find as in a dumpster, all the way to climbing a ladder and jumping using vents on top of buildings. These sets of level are not just for exploring, but also is a score bonanza as well which adds well to this enjoyable masterpiece. This creator was (now is known) a true hidden gem in the LittleBigPlanet world and peoria deserves more than a spotlight, but a bow while saying "I'M NOT WORTHY"!There are not enough "Whoa's" in the world to fully express my love for this here level..er..LEVELS. Holy crap, even the Chapter Select level is awesome. Wait, can I say "crap?" Hope so. Anyway. You'll first enter the ever so cool, level, or Chapter Select arena and see a row of dumpsters before you. Each dumpster will take you to a different chapter in this saga in the streets and each chapter will amaze and delight you. The amount of detail found throughout is just staggering and I love every second that I get to spend with Chug and I'm quite positive that you will too. Hey Peoria, a huge congrats on this being Team Picked! I couldn't be happier for you, well deserved buddy.Enter the mean streets of CHUG at your peril, not so much because of the dangers which lurk there (and there are plenty) but because you may find yourself caught up in a totally addictive hunt for all the hidden items and score bonanzas in the levels. Each time you play you’ll find more things and think to yourself that if only you’d just taken a slightly different path you could have built an even bigger multiplier…and you’re hooked. Fortunate then that CHUG is such a cool place to hang out in. The gritty urban environment is beautifully realised, vivid and fantastically detailed and everywhere you look there are fun touches to bring a smile to your face: the funny posters, the skateboarding segment (how cool was that), your very own baseball court, a bit of breaking and entering. It makes the levels a blast to play and keeps things fresh right to the end. You can just tell how much love and attention has been poured into every aspect of this awesome series and it has paid off hundredfold. Great stuff.

http://if.lbp.me/img/bl/bffc2d36f8e40c3d9865d26029cb422e4078fb11.pngFrom Birds and old Menlittle-big-playe"Let me show you something. It's fantastic to draw.. but what would be, if you could see drawings live? You can't believe that right? Okay, then be attentive!" - The Cartoon Creator "ZzzzzZZZZzzzZZZzzZzzzzzZZzzzZZzzzzZZzzzzZZzzz" - An old (sleeping) Cartoon Man - - Thanks for the wonderfull music @CuriousSack! Also thanks to @Shaggy40000 for help with the translation!
LBP has hit toonsville in this smash hit of an old man on some misadventures. What is up with getting old and being so avid about hats, it's destiny in real life as well as the digital. Little Big Player starts us off with a very vivid of imagination intro that gets straight to the point and keeps you entertained, then off to Cartoon Little Big World where you are introduced by the King and immediately told to see the Queen. I won't go into too much detail but grab your cane and be ready to poke folks with it, so funny the first time I started poking around with it. Felt as if I am on Social Security already, but with less bingo and more Adventure. Can't wait to see what the rest of the series has in store for us and I can't wait to cover up that bad comb over on my sprite when I finally get that blasted hat, now stay off my lawn you blasted hoodlums.Someone give this talent creator a cookie, a bow, I don't know - but give this level series a play! Little-Big-Playe has a special talent to those who do not know him. He carries the awesomeness with a move controller and the move paint feature and makes really incredible stickers. What's a better way to show off his stickers than a level series about a old man and awesome platforming along the way with many familiar LBP characters to see and it will make you feel like you are in a painted world. If you want to his some of work behind the scenes, check out his speed paints of the stickers in the art thread of the site and he even gives them away in the level! I really can not wait for the next part of the series and this creator deserves the spotlight more than I deserve cake, and I really want cake.

http://i4.lbp.me/img/bl/6e42ca24bd4cb01a4270c94d5685794902c32ecf.pngCloudy ing, Cloudyang!FusY-_-KaHCo-created with @cakito123 __ [1 Player Only] [Tricky/Hard] __ Walk through the clouds while you avoid some obstacles that are installed in the sky. There seems to be a ship at the end! I wonder whats inside of it? Sackboy must go there and find out! __ PART 2 COMING SOON (OR MAYBE NOT)
Cloudying. Someone should find a way to add that word into the dictionary as it should be a verb when someone is playing a cloud platformer. Seems like I'll be the first to use it in a sentence! I enjoyed cloudying through this level with a lot of interesting game play elements including the use of the new wall-jumping ability. I mean it even has ferris wheels incorporated with the gameplay. Ferris wheels in the clouds? That would be something I would pay for, if it's safe of course. This level gets better and better as you progress, and please change "(PART 2 COMING SOON (OR MAYBE NOT)" to (PART 2 COMING SOON (I PROMISE!!).You will probably go through the whole range of emotions with this level. Love, hate, anger, fear, joy and so on. Mostly love though..and maybe a little rage now and then. This level takes you very, very high in the sky as the name suggest and from there your skills, or in my case the lack of, will be put to the test. The gameplay mechanics on display are brilliant and more than once you will be going, "What! That was coooool!" This is a fantastic level that you will surely enjoy.Loved the feel of this level – whirling, swooping and swinging through a stunning pink and blue sky filled with fluffy clouds and anything-but-fluffy gameplay. The combination of attracto-gel and wall-jumping works brilliantly and the sky is the perfect place to perform a series of dizzying aerial acrobatics. The moment you drop into the level your attention’s caught by the saturated colours, banks of clouds and the weird and wonderful contraptions unexpectedly at home there. After that, though, you’ll need all your wits and some quick reactions to get you through to the end. Quirky, absorbing and a whole lot of fun to play. An ozone rich breath of fresh air.

Girly Gamble
Bobbbio_
Ahhhh What no boys allowed, Why because I said so! This track is so old, its a joke but enjoy it anyway!
To put it out there, we all should know girls do not really gamble like this. Though these girls in the race level are meanies and won't let us boys in unless the boys when the race! When you enter the level with a nice intro to set the main direction of the race. you are greeting with very awesome design with a whole lot of colors and decorations used. Race your way though arcs decorated with pink flowers to ramming yourself in purple sponges while partaking in this very awesome race!

Greenleaf Grotto
Bobbbio_
Ahh Welcome to Greenleaf a hidden grotto, Dance around this grotto with the adorable Cuckoos who live here. Enjoy the scenic view and dont forget to take a snapshot.
This is one of my favorite race levels in the visuals section. Looking around you notice you are in a swamp-ish area fested with a lake and a lot of foliage. Right from the beginning where you see a custom made start sign before you begin the race all the way to the falling leaves and a fantastically built house with wheels on the side. Come on down and race, and make sure to avoid those saws too in this one awesome grotto!

Are you seriously joking with me?!? This is all that you guys can come up with?!? You have how many spotlighters and yet you can't find some more levels? Seriously I've scouted out some better ones such as crystal caverns by komodojr70, and wasted by smartysloan was pretty good. And what about crazy rush ! (Random challenge) by Kuet-66, and littlebigplanetone-meet the characters by the-guyxp, or heck Jurassic Adventure- Fire Demon by smartysloan! That level was mind blowing!! Or even my Foresty Platformer 3 was pretty good! These people work hard on their levels and yet you fail to find a few levels that you have how many spotlighters and just one guy (me) can list more levels then you listed on that list that are high quality levels too! I am absolutely offended by this spotlight. This serious seems as if it is a joke played on us -___- I am very dissapointed

@Mdoodle - I can understand your frustration. We'd rather there were plenty of levels in the Spotlight too, but for better or worse, the Spotlight is not about going out into the Community and finding good levels. It's about featuring the best of the levels posted in the Level Showcases here on LBPC in the past fortnight. None of the levels you mentioned was posted here (apart from your own) and in fact I think only 5 or 6 Vita levels in total were posted. If you know of good creators out there, perhaps you could encourage them to post about their levels here and then the Vita crew would be only too happy to give them a play.2014-01-20 05:59:00

Yeah but wanna hear the messed up thing? They played my Foresty Platformer 3 and didn't even finish it. So before they even finished my level they already judged it and just quit, didn't even yay it when I worked a crap ton on that level. And you can check out my level Foresty Platformer 3, it's actually a pretty good level that's fun and pretty high detailed yet the spotlight crew was too stubborn to even play the whole level and give it a well deserved yay.

Hey Mdoodle22,

Sorry about the concern about spotlighting your level! I might have gotten stuck in it which is why I gave up, it's not that I don't appreciate the hard work on your level.

If you'd like I can give it another go and judge it again!

Alright I see your point, but take it down a notch. These folks work extremely hard and they have to play SO many levels and they are always on the run. You might want to consider stop judging the crew, and calling them stubborn. Also, some players and judges chose not to "yay" levels when playing spotlight potentials.

Hi Mdoodle22, I understand what you are saying also

In regards to your level; Three people played it, one did not complete it, all felt it was not eligible for a spotlight based on the criteria that we vote on.

Never be discouraged, I encourage you to use F4F and request feedback and positive criticism in your Vita thread, it may help build an understanding where people quit, or what sections were not fun. It means we all get better together and have fun at the same time.

To your point about great levels you have found; Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out.

I encourage you to share them in the recommendations thread and let great creators know about posting on the site.

An example of encouraging to post on the site (posting just after you in this thread) is FabFio71; they make amazing levels and were encouraged to post them on here, since then several were Spotlighted others received Nods. Some were not selected.

Yes if you could please give it another try that would be fantastic, I worked my butt of making it and I'd at least like a shot at getting it spotlighted

Okay well what's the criteria for getting a level spotlighted? And what's so bad about yaying a level? Also they could've at least left a review saying what they disliked or think I should improve upon it. And if it's so hard for them playing a bunch of levels which I understand why do they have to be spotlighters on both lbp2 and vita? Why can't you guys either a get more spotlighters or b get spotlighters for just the vita that way they can focus more on one game and get more done?

I'll queue it up and give it another go and I'll make some time so I will be able finish the level (I was the one who didn't finish it on the team, I should be the one to blame).

I can also leave some feedback on your level via your level thread when I play it again.

I have to deal with real life aside from my LBP activity so my apologies for the inconvenience.

Okay thank you a lot for the 2nd shot, I appreciate it. Also I'm publishing a new level on January 25th that I've been working a lot on lately called "zombie infection 1: recharged" so when I publish that I will put it in the thread but I'd like you to give that a shot at a spotlight or at least an honorable mention, it has a ton of logic and work out into it, again thank's for the second shot

@Mdoodle22: Hey man, just a friendly comment here. I remember it took me over 2 years and a half to even get my levels to the quality of honorable mention-ess. It doesn't mean I didn't put an awful lot of effort in previous levels, but I just didn't know the way to properly polish the aspects that make a good level... Well, spotlight-able. If your goal is to pursuit an spotlight, then try harder everytime and learn from comments and reviews on your level. That way you will achieve a better creation technique and in no time you will have every level spotlighted or at least honorable-mentioned 2014-01-23 02:20:00
