Music Player and Music Sequencer Stop Playing

Archive: 3 posts

Hello,

Ok, so I have a boss fight area of my level set up. After the player defeats a certain number of sackbots in the area, I have a tag sensor activate a counter set to one count (so as to act as a permanent switch). The counter is then connected to a music sequencer of somebody else's music that I got from a gallery level. This is so it plays the different track after the fight is over. It works fine for right after the player ends the fight, but whenever the player dies after the fight further in the level, the music just stops all together, even though I still have the permanent switch counter attached to it.

I have also been having this problem with the music players that LBP2 provides. I have the same logic setup as above (only that it is for during the boss fight), but the music stops playing if the player dies in the boss fight. Talk about a mood kill! haha

Anyways, I really feel like I am missing something obvious but it is just not occurring to me. This is the first time I have run across music player issues like this. I wonder if it could be do to the DLC update because I know that the update changed music so that it played through level links? I have no idea. Should I just have the music be playing off of a trigger radius instead of a permanent switch?

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Ok so I messed around with it some more and something is wrong, like really wrong. I took a music player and placed it in another area of the level, simply set it to go off of a trigger radius, and it wouldn't play at all. The music players will work when put into a sequencer with only the music player in it, but it restarts the music every time the player dies. This is really frustrating because the level is almost done and this has put a screeching halt to everything.

EDIT2: I got it working. And by got it working I mean abandoned the level and started from a previous backup. Luckily the last one I had was only a week old and now everything works. I guess something that I can take away from this annoyance is this: RULE 1: VERSION CONTROL. Back your stuff up. It saved my butt and it might save yours.

A rapidly pulsing signal will at least start the music over if it stops for whatever reason, people use that trick in create mode since music cuts out whenever you hover.

If this is the digital version like you imply in the other thread I wonder if it's 'cause music used to be streamed from the BD and now it's being done from the HDD instead. Other folks seem to be having the same problem.

I'm sure Ayneh knows more about this than me, but I have a few ideas.
The problem you're having could be caused by lag....if your boss fight has tons of emitters or something. Using tons of gas in your level can also cause this to happen, at least in my experience.
