Oscillating decoration spinner

Hi everyone. I dabbled with the decoration spinner to create an oscillating decoration.


1. Place your decoration on the spinner.

2. Attach a microchip to the spinner and place a sequencer in the microchip.

3. Stretch a battery set to 100% strength to fill half the sequencer.

4. Stretch another battery set to NEGATIVE 100% strength to fill the other half of the sequencer.

5. Pass both batteries through an OR gate and connect this OR output to the decoration spinner.

6. Set the decoration spinner to "signal strength."


Some tips:

This creates oscillation like a square sine wave (for the physicists out there) which means there is no slow down before changing direction. The spinner flips each time, moving instantly from one direction to the other.

To better centre the decoration I place a camera on some static (stationary, not TV static!) material set with a close in downward tilted angle so I can see the middle of the spinner. Player tracking is set at 0% so the camera doesn't move and then I can apply the decorations with more accuracy.

The sequencer should be completely filled from left to right with battery otherwise there will be a period of time when the spinner does not move at all.

You could tweak the battery strengths to make the spinner move faster in one direction than the other. Just make sure one is positive and the other is negative.
