CHUG Level Link (http://lbp.me/v/qp4r9z0)

Are you ready for an oldskool adventure with some urban flair? I didn?t think so, but I made one anyway and it's called CHUG. To make it to end of this level, you?ll need to ladder and ledge climb your way to success.

This level is packed full of points, so empty your pockets and grab some coin. If you are extra thirsty for points, then you?ll need to combo those coins with the bottles you find scattered around the level. Be careful not to collect the bad bottles because they can be hazardous to your high score. Speaking of high scores, do you like a challenge? If so, you sound like a candidate for the CHUG ? High Score Challenge (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=82998-CHUG-High-core-Challenge) and a chance to win a $10 PSN card. Make sure to check out the CHUG Strategy Guide found in the CHUG HUB for more tips and additional points.

SPECIAL THANKS to my homie OMGYOUWOULD for graffiti help. I also want to thank Breezy-The-Pro for his font and comphermc for his ladder and ledge climbing tutorials. Some of the music is by MastaBlastya and the rest is still unknown...

F4F - I'll try to provide feedback to as many as I can, but reserve the right to provide it to the first 10 who provide feedback to me and ask for it in return. Thanks!

Another great level from you. What's really fun is the amount of cool little touches you put in, not just visually, but in level design. I just read your interview thingy, and all that work you put in shines through when you play, every element goes that extra mile. Thanks for making this.

Out of curiosity, what takes up the most thermo in your levels? The density of the visuals? Do you go to town on the amount of materials etc?

Edit - Just played through again and I was running my way across the top of Level 4 before doing the lower levels and I ran into the auto-link by accident, dunno if you want to tweak the placement of the link slightly. I probably should have been paying more attention to the billboards.

Thanks for the nice comments. It’s always nice to hear them after you put in a lot of work. As far as my thermo goes I believe it’s a combination of many things, but In this particular level I believe it’s the stickers. I have a ton of graffiti and grunge stickers that were made in paint and all take up varying amount of thermo. In fact some of them were so harsh on thermo, they couldn’t be used at all. OMGYOUWOULD helped me tremendously with the graffiti tags and without his help, they level wouldn’t be as authentic. Level 2 in particular is the most maxed out on thermo and I’m still trying to bring the heat down. If I just removed the diamonds from the top of the Aqua-Fried billboard, then I would clear up a nice little chunk of thermo…but I just can’t!!!

My goal for my next couple of levels is to concentrate more on simplicity and limit my material, deco, sticker choices and see if I can still pull off something interesting and fun. I know it’s going to drive me crazy, but it’s necessary I learn this for my own health. I’ll take a look at the level 4 auto link and adjust it. Thanks for the info, it’s much appreciated!

PS - Full disclosure: Today while fixing a couple of bugs I added a 100k egg in level 2. I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t help myself… I also added a couple more tips to the strategy guide level and 150k more possible points there as well for the hardcore hunters...

I loved playing this game. Only a few times I was not sure where to go next but roaming around usually helped.

Can I suggest you make the level links optional? I walked into a few before I realised what was going on and I was whisked away when I really wanted to keep exploring.

I'm coming back to this because I beat L-I-M_I once and I'm sure I can beat Shorpshirelass. How did she get such a high score - what the what? How? Where?

Great job, something unique for the community.

Thanks man! I added a tip in the Strategy Guide yesterday to let players know what a level link will most likely look like. The level links are automatic because I wanted players to have to avoid them on purpose in a few levels?in order to find more points.

The score Shropshire-lass put up is ok, but far from optimal and I?m sure she knows that too! I know you can beat it rather easily if you explore a little more. For instance, there are over 350k points to be had in the Strategy Guide alone!

Mmmm, tempting. I'll need to put aside a good half hour to beat her. Getting carried away with my current level - must show you some time soon. I'll see if I can immerse myself in the CHUG life again tonight.

BTW - your Twitter post said it was -17 degrees there. Is that Fahrenheit or Celsius? If it was Celsius that is pretty cold. If it was Fahrenheit it's even colder! Just asking because America is not uniformly metric yet and I'm used to metric. It's currently 33 degrees Celsius outside at 6:23 pm (91.4 degrees Fahrenheit).

-17 degrees Fahrenheit! Flipping cold as _____! Nowhere close to your toasty 91 degrees!

One thing that’s cool is seeing where some people have spent close to an hour playing through CHUG. However, this should be last big/long level since they are just way too much work to manage given my limited LBP time.

Always remember…. You didn’t choose the CHUG life, the CHUG life choose you!

Don't forget about the CHUG-High-core-Challenge (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=82998-CHUG-High-core-Challenge) in community contests. It looks like p-p-j really wants to win, but there are two $10 PSN card winners to be had, so he won't be the only one winning! The contest ends Feb 1st...

It's an MM pick now, folks! Hooray!

Now many more players will be in for the competition - a good thing, right?

Congrats PeoriaSpitfire!

Thanks to everyone here and on Twitter for the congrats on the Team Pick!

There are just two weeks left in the CHUG Community High Score Challenge. You still have plenty of time to climb your way to the top. I'm pretty sure the score can be maxed out at 4 million with the right run and a few lucky breaks along the way. Good luck!

There are just five days left to win the CHUG High Score Challenge (Two $10 PSN cards to the winners).

Here are the current standings:

Here are a few recent CHUG PRO TIPS I posted on Twitter:

Plan your routes carefully to maximize multipliers.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/7b5b2af0758d3f3e04a878ecf95ab1ac5eddf239.jpg

This section was a bit unfair, so I fixed it. You can now go behind the wall and live! For my sin, I added another 50k egg.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/new_egg.png

"Coin Vents" are a great way to get insane multipliers and a ridiculous score if you are quick enough.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/coin_vent_tip.png

Another "coin vent" example.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/coin_vent_2.png

This one is tricky. One bottle in the whole thing is worth 5k. Grab some coins before you get it and you'll get a nice score.
