Looks absolutely stunning! I've played the Beta, but I'm definitely going to queue this ASAP!

Very nice post as well!

One full day in the books and we have our first CHUG Top Ten. There still is a long way to go before the contest deadline, but I thought it would be cool to capture the early scores and compare them to the final Top 10 on February 15th.

Your soul, wut?

Tried to do the challenge earlier but failed miserably. I kept dying. Oh well, good luck to all who enter. (:

I'm not sure I thought through the Contest End Date well enough. In hindsight, I think I shouldn’t have put such long time frame on it. Maybe January 15th or something like that would have been better? That doesn’t end on a weekend, so what about January 18th? Is it too late for me to change it? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I’m open to suggestions. Bio, when are you back to work in LBP?

PS - Full disclosure: Today while fixing a couple of bugs I added a 100k egg in level 2. I’m sorry, but I just couldn’t help myself… I also added a couple more tips to the strategy guide level and 150k more possible points there as well for the hardcore hunters...

I think changing the date is up to you, it's your contest. What the site moderators say is a different matter.

A suggestion: rather than go for first place, why something a bit different? I wonder if you should do something like choose a random number, say, nine, and then base the winner on the original scoreboard you posted. So that would make the ninth place player the winner and you can just close up the competition now.

Good luck everyone!

It sounds like you are the go-to logic guy for this contest! My logic just keeps picking me as the winner! What are the odds?!?

As of today the two winners would be p-p-j and Shropshire-lass (1 Fan Site and 1 Twitter winner). Even though Shropshire-lass is currently 4th, she would take second because the two sacks above her helped me test the level and aren?t eligible for the contest. I?m still contemplating a new end date for the contest sometime towards the end of January.

-____- Well that's unfair to the people who have already played it. It reminds me of when I got the top score in Simora's level and then he changed it from 100 levels to 1000 lives, just because I beat his score.

I actually agree with you that it's a little dirty if done at the wrong time and without full disclosure. I did say in the rules that, ?I reserve the right to modify and republish the level as needed.? The amount of points I added isn't much in the whole scheme of the total points possible for this level and the contest end date is over a month away...NOTE: I just changed the contest end date to Feb 1, 2014. I haven?t seemed to gotten a whole lot of interest in the contest so far, so part of the update was trying to spark some more interest if that makes sense. Hopefully you?ll give it a try and let me know what you think. Thanks!

CHUG PRO TIP: There are over 350k of available points to be had in the Strategy Guide level alone...

Well, I'm certainly going to have another go. Last time I played I accidentally triggered the level link in Chug 4 when I'd only been in the level for about 30 seconds, lol. I could have kicked myself because by that stage I'd built up a reasonable score which was completely blown...so, yes, I definitely need to give it another shot. And, of course, bio has yet to wade in and I just know he's going want to top that leaderboard!

Btw, have you thought of asking John to do you an LBPHub push on Twitter? That might generate more interest.

Ok now that ive let everyone warm up a bit, its my turn to give this another go or 2 or 3 or 4 or...u get the point. I personally know how pjj can really pump out highscore and he has me intimidated. If i do happen to win you can just donate my winnings to a good friend that goes by "Big Al"2014-01-14 04:30:00

I updated the current standings. There are two weeks to go and p-p-j is still holding down the 1st spot since day one! I'm pretty sure someone can max the scoreboard out and beat him...of course it will probably be p-p-j who does it! HAHA.

I would really like you to publish a red-bottle-free version so I can play this without accidentally losing points all the bloody time. You could publish it during southern hemisphere daylight hours, specifically around the local version of 8:00 pm for these coordinates:

S 38? 41' 8.4926"
Longitude:E 176? 4' 12.7553"

You could just republish the original version, say, two hours after that.

That would be great, thanks. Because, you know, I was ninth, once, and I'm sure I could be first with a remedial version.

I'm pretty sure the red bottles are part of the challenge. You just need to learn avoid them. Btw, when were you ninth? The day when it was published? I don't remember seeing you at the scoreboards.

Yeah I was ninth pretty early on. Didn't last long though!

I think peoriaspitfire knows I'm joking here

It's all good p-p-j. Aratiatia is just having some fun. I think he was the 9th person to register a score when it was first published!

I've tried and tried and tried, I just don't know what else to do. I think I'm rushing it too much. I might give it another go this weekend.

Continue to keep your eyes open for more CHUG PRO TIPS… I’ll be pushing out a bunch of these tips starting this weekend on Twitter. If I can get access to LBP again by next week, I’ll be pushing some behind the scenes screenshot tips as well…

CHUG PRO TIP: Sometimes it’s important to look at your combo coin runs and make sure you’re using them to your advantage? It’s not always best to get every bottle right away, etc…

Here are a few recent tips I posted on Twitter:

Plan your routes carefully to maximize multipliers.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/7b5b2af0758d3f3e04a878ecf95ab1ac5eddf239.jpg

This section was a bit unfair, so I fixed it. You can now go behind the wall and live! For my sin, I added another 50k egg.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/new_egg.png

"Coin Vents" are a great way to get insane multipliers and a ridiculous score if you are quick enough.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/coin_vent_tip.png

Another "coin vent" example.
http://i629.photobucket.com/albums/uu19/peoriaspitfire/Chug/coin_vent_2.png

This one is tricky. One bottle in the whole level is worth 5k. Grab some coins before you get it and you'll get a nice score.

Current high scores as of today:

Those scores are very imposing and I haven't even had a try at it since I first tested it, but I'll give it a go this weekend!

EDIT: Nevermind, I'll be gone this weekend, but possibly Friday...
