We're back! And look who followed us home :)

As you've already noticed, the site is once again up and running. Hooray! The downtime was a direct result of malicious code that was injected into the forum software by means of a security exploit. Don't worry, users that visited the site over the past week are not at risk. The code specifically targets vBulletin and cannot be transferred to another computer/device simply by visiting the site. Over the course of the past 10-ish days, the code was identified and scrubbed from the server - no small effort. While the hood was up, we went ahead and upgraded server performance and patched a couple of security issues as well.

Many of you are wondering why there was such a lack of communication with regards to the site downtime. I assure you that it was not an oversight, and you have my sincerest apologies for keeping you all in the dark. Critically, I did not want to communicate day-to-day progress against the security threat because that would have potentially opened us up to even more malware, viruses, and hacks. I also did not have a specific ETA on when the site would return, so I didn't really have much to report other than "We're working on it, please wait".

And who is "we" you ask? Why it was myself, some Christmas elves, and none other than ConfusedCartman. Yep, that's right - CC is returning to LBPC! He will be helping me administrate the site (or, more accurately, I will be helping him), so his name is once again a nifty shade of green. Please join me in welcoming him back! Not to sound sappy, but I can't imagine a life without LBPC. This place is the one forum I go to probably more than Facebook, and I'm hardly on here for anything LBP related anymore.

Hi guys. When the site was down, if I was to search for it via google, the forum link would take me to dodgy looking sites, whereas typing the page straight in my address bar would just cause the page not to load.

I've been away for a long, long while so when I saw the site simply wasn't working I started to get worried! I thought I woke up on the apocalypse somehow. I was prepared to get on my knees and yell to the heavens.

Sorry about that Unfortunately, our server was essentially hijacked, and was being used to send visitors to other spam sites for rank / ad revenue purposes. I've since installed a comprehensive security solution and am further educating myself on server / network security, so we can be better armed to prevent this sort of thing in the future.
