The controller looses contact with the ps3

Archive: 17 posts

This is a pretty irritating problem that i have, suddenly the controller looses contact and it is often impossible to connect it again without restarting. This has often made me loose a lot of work in createmode .
Has anyone of you guys been experiencing this and does anyone know a solution, even though its good to learn yourself to save the game regularly its pretty irritating.

My bet is that you've dropped your controller too much, and your Bluetooth device is messed up.2009-01-31 20:29:00

Feels good to know that i'm not alone to have this problem, but its sad to hear that you too don't know why its happening.

Do you use a Sixaxis or a Dualshock3 ?

It is well known that the Sixaxis is having connection problems. It's signal is weak. The DS3 is having like 10x more powerfull signal and NEVER disconnects. Never ever never.

I'm using a DS3.

Good. So this is sorted, the problem is elsewhere.

Do you have a wireless network at home? If you have multiple bluetooth things in the same environnement it can cause interference and maybe it can make the PS3 or the controller lose its signal momentarily.

I have Wifi but no other blue tooth devices.

The signal loss isn't a tempory thing, it's permanant until the system is restarted. I'm certain the fault is on the PS3's end because when it occurs I have also observed the USB ports malfunctioning (the normally solid light on the usb drive started flashing ireglarly)

I don't think it'll be down to sixaxis.
Had both my controllers for about a year now and I've never had this problem.
What about if you hold it really close? Does it still d/c?

The d/c are too random to make holding it real close a practical option although I'm rarely more then a few feet away from the system.2009-02-01 20:03:00

It's not the controllers, i have both a d3 and a sixaxis and both disconnect at the same time and won't connect again.
And like Rabid Coot said, it's very random so it wouldn't really be practical and apparently it doesn't matter as he sits close and i usually sit about three four meters from the ps3.

I wonder what is that your PS3 is doing. It really seem to be on the PS3 part but I don't understand why this would affect USB port.

I faulty Bluetooth antenna shouldn't affect the USB ports in any way.

I don't know, i haven't been noticing that the usb stop working. I usually don't use the usb to anything other than to charge the controllers so -at least for me that doesn't really matter, but i agree that its weird if the usb stops working.2009-02-02 13:19:00
