DC Level Kit?

I was just looking at my trophies and I noticed I was a few short on LBP2 and there are new DC Level kit trophies. Looks like we are getting a Level kit soon, wonder what costumes will come with it.2013-12-10 01:59:00

This is awesome. I honestly thought they were done with LBP2 level packs at this point, especially after the Nightmare Before Christmas pack was so bare-bones. Glad to see that even after the PS4 launch they're offering support!

This "Hero Cape"... I wonder if it's a controlinator machine, or a power-up. Because "What A Bounder" implies wall jumping, and "The Greatest Cape" implies flight. Is this some sort of parkour mechanism? XD

I'm so happy, a DC Costume Kit? Batman? Superman? Flash? Wonder Woman? Probably 1 more and there might be a Supervillan Costume Kit? Joker? Lex Luther? Gotta buy em' all.

I think Sumo Digital or Tarsier Studios will be developing it, if it's on the Vita probably Tarsier Studios.

So a Hero-cape & Wall-jump hmm... Well it would be cool if it was a powerup... But they sound more like Sackbot logic skills to me tbh.

Looks like two, the cape and wall jump. Unless wall jump is only usable with a special material like the sticky surface...

Anyway this has inspired me to reinstall LBP2... Lets see if I get bored this time

Unless the trophy only implies you have to wear a new costume piece and stay in the air for the said time and then the wall jump only implies using an in-game material like Rock said, but I'm really hoping for something new!

Jk, but really, I'm glad MM decided to add something other than simple decos and costume pieces in a DLC. The last time was with the Muppets pack. I wonder what this power-up, if we can call it that, has to truly offer.

Guys that is totally a new power-up! That beaming light in the middle of it and the generic look totally give it away. If we can fly freeborn with this power-up I'll be very happy.

And hopefully it won't be like the jetpack in LBP1, hopefully much more dramatic and faster.

Oh wow, I completely forgot the jetpack even existed. The only reason I ever used it was to simulate swimming...which obviously has been unnecessary for over 4 years now.

My thoughts would be that it would be for gliding in the air or something like that. Also the capeinator would be a nice name if it was a powerup, too obvious though haha. Would be sweet to have sackbots fly around too or something if they can equip it!

For the wall jump it would have to be a material in my opinion since the attract-o-gel allows you to attract so maybe there is a new material you can use to jump off of. Maybe their might be a tweaker for that like there is a attract-o-tweaker.

More or less, this DLC looks like an interesting get! Now we will have Marvel and DC in the imagisphere! Someone should make a versus level with those content packs later on haha!

Ha yeah the jetpack never really seemed like a popular gameplay element. The flying speed was just so... slow.

I'm mainly just impressed with how LBP2 gets so many exclusive partnerships with big companies. This game will be THREE years old in a couple months and it's still getting regular releases.

Just wondering, anyone else find it funny how far LBP has drifted from it's origins? I mean think about it, LBP1 was about tugging around pieces of sponge and swinging on pieces of rope... Now it has power-ups like the attractogel, grappler hook, creatinator, and this cape thing. Don't mean it in a negative way, just if someone predicted this stuff back in 2008 we all would've laughed saying LBP is about cardboard characters and environments.

More like many of us were hoping for this stuff. Nearly everybody back in LBP1 wanted LBP to be more of a full blown game creator. A lot of us back then used to talk about how we wanted AI sack people we could dress up and give AI too... And later we got sackbots and we were happy. *mew

New power-ups are cool, I am just hoping the mats, objects, stickers and deco are more universal than the stuff in the Marvel pack.

I am a level kit junkie, so there will be no question about my getting it. I just hope it is sooner than later. It will take the sting out of the Nightmare pack being a gallery and the cold empty vacuum of non-existant Hub updates.

maybe the cape will work like spyro's glide only with limited 'fuel'? honestly I'm just looking forwards to playing new levels, though it'd be nice if for once they'd be more like lbp does dc rather than dc with playable sackboy, I miss the days of water and paintinator packs where the changes simply added to the platforming and we still just mucked about as per usual. nowadays we mostly get at least one controlinator level, which is honestly my most hated addition in lbp2..2013-12-11 15:01:00

If we go by other LBP2 premium kits, that sounds about right. The material under the caped sackling is starting to grow on me. He sort of looks like a helmetless caped iron man though.

I think that the Capeinator is only capable of flying for a small period of time (Hence the Trophy) and the Wall-Jump is an actualy material which can be tweaked to whatever fits.

The menu could include some kind of "Jump length" which would determine the radius of the landing area. The Cape should be tweakable in several options:

- Flight time
- Flight height
- Flight maneuverability (Like "Accuracy" in the Creatinator tweak-menu )

Just some ideas to maximize the potential of this Power-up

EDIT: It also looks like the Wall-Jump-Material has a blue transparent material around the other material. Maybe the Wall-Jump-Material is transparent features a non-collide able surface - like SP. (Sackthing actually enters that material.) That would be even more awesome! Then the creator would be able to place the Wall-Jump-Material on any material without worrying about merging and overlapping.

Well maybe there isn't even any Wall-Jump-Material maybe the made all the logic for it. But that isn't the case. See those effects after the jump, like 3 waves? Yep, if they were made without "Special Effects", it's presumably made with logic.

Don't know about that, how would the creator restrict areas where they don't want people to wall jump on while they have the cape equipped? I'd say its a material with a tweaker like attract-o-gel and the Touch material.

Either way, it's an interesting thought!

My guess is that there will be a tweaker as well as a specific wall jump material that will be used in the pack's levels and presumably in that trailer to make it obvious to the player where they can wall jump (like they did with the muppets pack). It also looks like the wall jump thing is what's used to activate the flying so maybe the cape only works when jumping from that material or something with the tweaker? That would be a way to differentiate it from the jetpacks.

If they made it like this, the cape would be very restricted. I don't think that they would make a whole new power-up if it only gets triggered by something like the wall-jump. A power-up is supposed to be universal and adaptable to different levels and themes...

Hey! I think the cape is just going to be for gliding. Basing that on the trophy where you have to stay airborne for a specific amount of time.

Any theories on the characters? I sent a load of guesses to Steven earlier, but obviously he can't confirm or deny anything like that.

I finally got to see the teaser trailer. Looks interesting. I wish they would tease more mats than just the one he's standing on though.

In the teaser it looks like old mats, mostly chrome or something (hard to tell in the dark) with touch activated neon or something lighted speckled with some decorations where he jumped. The soaring/gliding looked fun too.

While this looks cool, I've always been more of a Marvel fan with the exception of Batman. Bats is the only costume I am interested in here.

However, many times I have stated what a level kit junkie I am. I am addicted to new materials, stickers, objects and decorations. So I hope we get some good ones along with some good new gameplay.

As big of a comic book fan as I am, I deeply fear this will be focused on the main ones with the other ones making only brief cameos. Batman is Batman and Superman is Superman, but I am just saying... there is more to DC than Batman and Superman.

Seriously, for a fan of comics, the MARVEL pack was fantastic. I hope the actual DC level kit will have all the possible DC heroes. If so, I will be one happy sack.

Woah, I never would have expected this in a million years! I thought Mm had a deal with Disney related to DLC? In fact, I remember reading somewhere that "LittleBigPlanet is an official tie-in with Disney." And, although the wording is a bit off, it did sound pretty legit, and it looked about right, so with this LBP+Disney thing, I thought that with Disney owning Marvel, and those Marvel Level/Costume Kits that DC would say "Nope!" to any LBP-related deals.

So, if we're getting DC stuff, I'm hoping for a Pinky and the Brain/Animaniacs pack, since DC and Warner Bros. are basically best friends, so surely if DC are okay with this, WB should be okay with something like that... Right?... Well, even if that's not the case, I can dream, can't I?
(I'm imagining what kind of crazy powerup would be in an Animaniacs Premium Level Kit...)

Honestly at least for me personally. Not counting touch screen related controls/tools, Memorizers must be the least interesting tool/feature from LBPvita imo. *mew

I'm sure it's nice for people who make RPG levels and minigame series etc. But I pretty much just make platforming action adventure levels where such a tool has very little usefulness.

This is most likely all going to be intended for Hub, but will probably come to LBP2 and Vita since they basically are one in the same. My bet says its for hub. But if it is for LBP2 then it will sure be for hub. They are doing a livestream of the pack on the 19th so I am guessing its on LBP2 unless Hub comes out by then.

I'm sure we will have more info on hub by the end of the year, and it wouldn't feel right to wait until after Christmas in my opinion.

Hmm fingers crossed for a whole bunch of tools from the vita to be ported over, not just the memorizer. But really, I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!

MEMORIZERS! That is fantastic!! This has SO much potential to enhance LBP, not just RPGs but things like platform level series, games that have stages to unlock, anything with personal preferences that one might persist, etc. Even if you don't plan to use it yourself in create mode, you're going to enjoy the creations from those who do. I can't wait!

I'm sure we have a lot of die hard LBP fans working behind the scenes to thank for making this happen. (Not the least of whom is LBPCentral veteran RTM232 himself, who, as I understand it, is the grandfather of the Vita memorizer.) So, thank you guys!! This is big news!

It really supprice me how Sony invest in LBP2 even after 3 years, considering HUB is just unification with F2P

I knen that Memorizer will com to PS3 eventually and willl revutionize RPGs .... but too bad it not free part of HUB, but oh well. A lot of them are almost instantly recognizable. I am pretty sure Batman is roughing up the Joker, and behind the alleged Joker is what looks like a female holding a giant mallet. Probably Harley. Above Batman looks like Supes facing off against Lex Luthor. Above them is obviously Sinestro and GL Behind Supes is Aquaman, who looks like he's stepping on either Batwoman or Bat Girl. This is looking great, and I'm not even a DC fan.

I'm always kee to see what new materials and decorations appear. I'm really keen for some more animated decorations and tweakable materials. Plus, I would really like to see the Vita's de-physicaliser appear at last.

I wonder if the cape upgrade (capeinator?) has a "don't show cape" option so sackboy really just floats like in create mode. I assume you can tweak the duration of the flight time, maybe even the maximum height? People have been designing wall jumping levels for totes ages now, nice to see LBP is supporting an official tweak for this. Presumable you just place a tweaker on the object/material in the same way attratocgel works.

Finally! Took me forever today to load LBPC for some reason.

This pack has nearly all my YES!

Decoration Spinner tool? Oh mew. That is sooooo awesome! One of the few things I've been badly wanting from LBPvita!

And nice to see we have a better invisible mat now. The Glitch invisible mats were nice. but a bit awkward to play with.

All the costumes look really good.

That gear decoration! I've been waiting ages for a nice gear deco for LBP2. The rusty one was ok. But I wanted a shinny one with less pegs.

So the wall jumping is indeed a mat and tweeker! Really nice. Better then I expected! I'll be replacing the one I made for a couple of my levels with the official one now. Mine works good but I prefer official content and ways of doing things more often.

The cape is indeed a fancy gilder just like I thought. Which is cool since we had no powers of that type. Some people may say nonsense like "Whats the point when we can make it with logic?" A few replies to that. #1: it's nice to have less complex and more easy versions of things to use . #2 not everyone is great at making logic and or just don't want to spend time making it. #3 User made skills are often buggy and have to be heavily edited and reworked in order to work good in every new level they'll want it in, While official versions are often much more reliable & more flexible. #4 User made logic often lacks correct looking animations for the move or skill ETC.

The Memoriser while not being the most interesting tool for me personally. There is a few small uses that'll be good for a couple ideas of mine. For example the unlockable content I plan on having for a WIP Sonic level of mine. I was just gonna give the players stickers to unlock the replayable extra content... But I suppose the memoriser is a better more clean way to do it... I guess I'll just make the stickers gift content in general now. I'll think about it more once I get there. *mew

PS:I minds as well get the DC season pass, Since I plan on getting all of it anyways~

Now that LBPCentral is back online, I would like to bring to attention a bug that a friend and I found while trying the memori(z/s)er.

If one should create a label, (let's call it "A,) and then rename it so that there is no longer a label (no label), one of the 50 available labels is deleted, despite the fact that the one called "A," has been deleted. The process can be done repeatedly.

This is a pretty game-breaking bug.

Another note about the memori(z/s)er: people here seem to be neglecting that it's not only a device for saving content between levels, but also a device for remembering states in complex logic within a single level.

For example, I have a work-in-progress stage that needs the logic to remember which state is active when the player passes through a door or gate. Then the logic must recall the state in the case that the sackperson loses a life and must return earlier in the level. I originally had a system with MANY tag sensors and impact sensors, and it was difficult to keep track of the way the system worked. The memori(z/s)er simplifies the logic, certainly.
I hope that a greater number of people can be creative with the device. It has much potential.

Yes please do be careful not to rename existing labels as *blank*, as it will produce said bug... The issue is known, and should be fixed in an upcoming patch

Its a great pack, I really like seeing the majority of the new materials being colour tweak-able.

The only issue I had with the memoriser was in the tutorial. I named it 'Test' and then I couldn't select it as active. Re-loading the tutorial meant I was back at the start. I was stuck for quite a while, and the memoriser was called something like DA-DE-DA-DD's Memoriser (or something like that) but I found that I could select the name of the first memoriser still - so I had to copy the first memoriser, delete the second one (that I was asked to name) and place the copied one in that spot and re-wire it, then go back to the first one and remove the name.

Oh and when looking in my pod's memoriser data, the saved information was as 'Mr_Fusion' and there was another one called the DA-DE-DA-DD, so I deleted them both and tried out the tutorial again, and it worked fine.

Maybe the my favorite objects section for self-made objects can be restored. (maybe? haha)

Anyway, yes the pack includes the invisible material, which is something that I wanted since LBP 1 was released.

I finally got the chance to have a complete go and finish the entire story with 100% Prizes and all Aced! Anyways, much of what I had come to expect was a reality and all the doubts I had were disproved!
All in all, it's an excellent pack! You won't regret buying it! It's well worth the cost and everything! As a sidenote, I would also recommend buying the Season Pass if you are much into Costume Design or just like to show off in your favorite hero/bad guy! We will be seeing several packs coming in and this will save you some bucks if you plan on buying each and every pack! Anyways, I'm sure that you've seen a bit of the pack already throughout the Community and hopefully that will also help you make a final decision!

I haven't had access to my PS3 for a couple of weeks so I was hoping the Vita pack would be out around the same time as the PS3 version. But now it's looking like I'll still get to play the PS3 version first. Oh well, I've still got the costumes and I bought the season pass anyway so I'll just have to be patient

Exactly! I am working on an extension of the "Zone Control" mini-game, and I've included a respawn in the "Arena Select" area. I'm not sure why the Level Designers didn't let the player spawn back at the selection area. It would have been much more enjoyable, instead of replaying the whole level.

Actually I had a bit of difficulty trying to ace the last three levels, but it was way easier than I thought because on my second time through to collect all the Prizes I ended up acing them again! All it takes is a clear mind where you are not all worried about the next threat!

Anyways, the Boss Fight was pretty hard for me because I didn't realize that I had the Hero Cape until my 4th try... But try it out a few times without worrying about losing lives so that you can build muscle memory of what's about to come at each point! Then give it your best shot!

I only had trouble with the final sequence of the boss. I hit the laser arms on the machine which were Plasma. Instant death. Rage quit.

I aced and got 100% in all levels in 1-2 days. I just had to get everything before building my upcoming level.

Yeah, I just came back to hang my head in shame. I sold my copy on LBP2 and so had to download the digital version. So I had to start from scratch and replay ALL of the level kits I've bought as well as the story levels of LBP2. I just didn't realise I'd not actually finished the DC Comics DLC ... and there it was! I'm really looking forward to being a part of this community again. It's been a long time.

If you scale the Decoration Spinner up or down with the right stick, it will cause the decoration to be warped in the z-direction when spinning. To retain the symmetry of the spinning decoration, simply keep the Spinner at its default dimensions

They didn't want to put them all out at once in order to help sell the level-pack and first costume pack better and because everyone were gonna be busy with the holidays and playing other games during that time.

I've noticed this too. Slaeden-Bob is right.

In my experience, if you scale the spinner BEFORE you place decorations then the decorations will appear distorted. You have to delete the spinner and start again. But I'm pretty sure you can add decorations to the spinner AND THEN scale it with no distortion problems.

I've been dropping the spinner next to some material with a camera set to a close in, downwards angle. When I land on the material I'm nice and close to the spinner and can see where my decoration is going to land. I wish there was a bit of a snap to the centre like when you place a bolt to join to pieces of material in the centre but I'm fairly certain it's down to your accuracy.

Fumetsusozo - yes! Bring me the dephysicalizer! That would be interesting

My disc stopped working and I purchased the digital version and, I had to play the first intro bit again. As soon as I was able to, I imported my profile and it all went well.

You're kidding me? Too late now, I've played it all again ... but my music isn't working in play mode, but it does in create mode. I'm re-downloading and re-installing LBP2 to see if that rectifies it. If it doesn't then I've just wasted a LOT of money on this pack and the Nightmare Before Christmas pack.

The memorizer sounds like a cool tool (I believe it's in the Vita game?). But I'm kinda annoyed that they've added it to the game because it makes all that "progress saving" stuff I did for my Contrast level completely pointless. Some latest reviews have even mentioned the memorizer:

"This level must be a teampick, please make it with memorizer" - DaaMonkey, formerly known as SuskukeUchida

Another review even says:

"this is how Mm had the idea of the memorizer in DC comics DLC"

Well I know that's not the case, since they used it in the Vita version.

I suppose I could remake it with the memorizer, but then... it kinda ruins the fact that I was able to come up with a way to save player progress without a simple logic tool, which quite a few people seem to be impressed by (even though it was so simple I'm still surprised I hadn't seen it before). But hey..... it's not like I play much LBP2 these days anyway.

If I do ever get around to making a new level, I'm sure I could find some use for it.

I have to say this (and I don't mean any disrespect to any MM employees who may read this) but Tarsier are doing a better job with LBP than MM did. I find their level design and overall presentation to be a lot better. One thing though: we really don't need a camera focus or cutscene every flipping 30 seconds. It drives me batty, especially when I'm replaying the level to Ace it or get all the bubbles! Stop that NOW ... or at least give me the option to skip them 'all' from the start of the game.

Oh, and please add a double jump

I agree with both of you... cutscenes do make the levels more interesting, a lot of community levels forget them or go in the worse direction of making them super long. But being able to skip them after the first play through is something that a memoriser can be used for, and something I hope to see more of. Re-playign a level for the 5th time to try and Ace it and having to sit through the same speech bubbles is a special kind of taunting torture...

Oh and as an interesting idea; because you could use a memoriser to track number of plays you could actually set up logic that has the characters say different things if you retry... and continuing that; they could also just stop talking all together if you re-try more than 5 or so times.

The only level I had trouble acing was the ice level, whose name I can't remember.

Many ragequits were had at the part where you have to WJ off of multiple wall jump platforms moving up and down with gears on them in which you had to time your slides on the ice. If you messed up, you'd either jump into blades or luckily survive.

That's exactly what i thought of when i saw that they added the Memorizer. Of course it's a great tool, but it's pretty mean towards everybody who worked so hard to save the level progress.

I've made a superhero sackbot for a future level of mine, and i sat there for hours to give him the ability to wall jump, and now Mm just simply releases a Wall Jump feature xD

I'm not angry, but there was a slight "oh come on"-feeling when i played the Wall Jump tutorial
