Parcheesi board game with a home made look (pictures)

After my Lego brick builder and Pseudo Cluedo, I had plans to make a Scrabble board. However, most players would expect a built in spelling Nazi that I just could not provide. After looking around at board games I came across one that is simple to pick up yet can be ruthless to play, as any opponent can potentially send you back to square one if opportunity strikes.

Doing a little research, I think Parchisi (Pachisi?) originated in India and I think was also the basis for the game "Sorry!" as the gameplay is very similar.

My plan is to use a combination of wood grains for the board and tokens overlaying a "carpeted" floor. I want to create AI players, as even if you are by yourself, this is best played against three others. I already have dice rolling logic for the die.

If you have never played Parcheesi, but have played Sorry!, you already know how to play. You try to move four tokens around a path until you can bring them around to a home stretch. If another player lands one of their four tokens on a square your token is on, your token gets sent back to the start.

You decide on a number from one to six which needs to be rolled before you can take a token out of the start. I think rolling that number also gets you a re-roll. You win when you are the first player to get your tokens home.

Anyway, that's it. I'm sure I will try to spice it up with some "bells and whistles", though I predict that the risk of ruthless setbacks might make it exciting enough. Feedback is welcome.

Photo Update

I wanted this game board to look home made, hence the erratic paint scheme with buttons and bottle caps as game tokens. While you see six dice here, you only use one die to roll. I just wanted to show each face value.

It took some experimenting before I came up with a frame joint I was satisfied with. Usually this type of joint is only visible on the back side, but I think it adds character here. Also, unlike Cluedo, I put Parcheesi on some shag carpet.
