Thanks everyone. I can't wait for the feedback! I have a feeling it might be a little tricky as few players if any are reaching the scoreboard.

Ha! ten points for me! I had a TRS 80. Never knew about the Beam Rider game though. You will have to tell me if they have any similarities. I think most of the games were rip offs of Atari like Millipede instead of Centipede or Microbe instead of Asteroid. I remember liking Demon Attack, I think it was called and Temple of Rom. It had a tape recorder disk drive that you could write your own "if blank than go to..." programs or games. No graphics, just text.

I am shocked!! Another TRS-80 user....here!!

Beam rider was a Centipede type clone.... a screen full of 'blips' that you bounced from one to the next along....difficult to explain even though it was so simple...

Here a link to a video of it in action!! (on a dragon not tandy...) Go to 2.27 to see its glory!

Anyhoo...

Played LBP Beam rider (as its known to me now!) Really liked it although like others...I didn't finish it. I'll have another go when I have a little more time...but what I can say is its a very polished looking level. The beams look great and are real fun to slide along. I particularly liked the triangle sparks as you speed along the beams and the section in which you slide up the beam in a controllanator was good fun too.

I...
will...
finish...
it!

Yay! Brilliant gameplay idea!
At some spots it's a little bit too hard for me, but it's anyway a great level!
Excellent!

UPDATE!

Here is what's new...

Now you can skip the intro.
New characters.
New effects.
New menu to select level difficulty (Rider in Training) or (Master Beam Rider)
New race for the Master Rider's.

I made the game play much easier for the Rider's in Training. The level is essentially the same map but player's move slower on the beams, have more space around hazards, bigger platforms, more safe rest spots (green beams), and much more direction from the new robot charaters.

Ha ha! I see StevenI played this yesterday, before the update... Just my luck.

Love the screenshots. Got it queued.

Lol, that sucks Bad timing. Steveni played my hidden objects game when I only had 3 scenes. I wish he would play it again with all the updates.

Really good! I admit that I'm a bit of chicken and opted for easy difficulty. I know, I know, When you see the name GreenSmurfy you think, "wow that guy has no fears." Master Beam Rider seemed too hardcore for me.

I enjoyed Riders in Training so much that I'm definitely going to give Master Beam Rider a piece of my mind in the near future. The visuals were excellent and very clear based on the beams colors. I especially loved the beam hopping car like machine. I'm not sure what to call it. Really fun! That's what I'll call it.

I didn't play the older version before the update, so it seems like some people had trouble finishing before. I had absolutely no trouble finishing. I was Speedy Gonzales on the beams. I thought Riders in Training was the right amount of difficulty with a harder version calling my name.

Wow thanks! I am very glad you had so much fun. But just to warn you, In MASTER BEAM RIDER, the beams go faster, there are fewer green beams, bounce pads are smaller, there are fewer of them and no blue pads at all, the gaps between the hazards are smaller and the vehicle sections are way less forgiving. On the upside there is a race, there are more score bubbles and the prizes are worth 500 instead of 200. So If you are a Master Beam Rider it will show on the scoreboard. Good luck!2014-07-15 01:51:00

Such a cool cool level.

The menu is great, and very different compared to menus that seem to be very identical to each other in lots of levels. The level visuals and music are cool and fit the gameplay and style of the level. Not only are the beams already an innovative idea, but you innovate further with the inclusion of different colours of beams and the controllinator glider thing.

The inlcusion of the two difficulty modes is smarr, but I still wanted more from the level. It could have done with being slightly longer. Additionally, it was confusing at times with where to swing and such, so the arrows were a huge help.

I'd appreciate some feedback on my own level if possible, https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=89879-Spelunker-Bunker

Ha ha! You are the first to say the level could be longer. Only a master beam rider would say that. Fitting more into the level would be difficult. The beams eat up so much thermo that I have them divided into quadrants that I turn on and off as the player progresses. The intro and menu also destroy before any beams are turned on. All this to prevent the level from overheating. I hate to use the cliche the thermo won't let me do it, but short of a level link... I will have to think about this. If I added anything it would have to be something new. I don't want more of the same.

Thanks for the suggestion. I always welcome any feedback and I'm always interested in what players think.
