Going BANANAS! HELP!

Archive: 11 posts

Recently I got iDos installed, and I used iTunes to put a Windows 95 .img file in it. I typed in "imgmount A C:Win95.img -size 513,63,16,474" and got the message confirming it was mounted as varmobile...etc. Then I told it to "Boot Win95.img". I got the following:

"CD-ROM Device Driver for IDE (Four Channels Supported)
(C)Copyright Oak Technology Inc. 1993-1996
Driver Version :V340
Device Name : BANANA
No drives found, aborting installation

Device driver not found 'BANANA'
No valid CDROM device drivers selected
A:>"

Can anyone help me get a simulated "banana" drive working, or at least explain why not?

Yes, but it said failure to unzip.
Seriously though, that was the most called for joke I've ever seen.

I heard of Potato drives, but this is the first time I hear of a Banana drive. Here's for reference:

Alright, alright, if we go too far with the puns it's going to get moved to the forum games.2013-12-07 16:30:00

Some recent releases have been found to contain potentially fatal bugs.

Have you considered that people here don't have the information needed to help you and that you should try seeking out a community focused on the subject you're having problems with.2013-12-08 14:16:00

imgmount A C:Win95.img -size 513,63,16,474
Boot Win95.img

CD-ROM Device Driver for IDE (Four Channels Supported)
(C)Copyright Oak Technology Inc. 1993-1996
Driver Version :V340
Device Name :BANANA
No drives found, aborting installation

Device driver not found 'BANANA'
No valid CDROM device drivers selected
A:>
You could try mounting drive letter A as a bootable HDD instead of a CD-ROM. If not, you'll have to configure the emulator differently or find a copy of OAKCDROM.SYS since it can't find your CD-ROM drivers.

It'll be the same command, only followed by the -t switch if it's anything like DOSBox.

imgmount a win95.img -size 512,63,16,474 -t hdd

I tried with a Windows 3.1 disk image I had laying about and it didn't seem to care either way, so it might work.

I dunno why it's called BANANA, but it reminds me of the Amiga motherboards having funny names on them like Denise and Rock Lobster.

OH!! THANK YOU!! Finally someone able to give me a straight answer that isn't a pun! iDOS is actually just DOSbox being run on an iDevice, so thank you very much. I have tried it before with "-t hdd" and even "-t hdd -fs none" but neither worked. I'll try this with a windows 3.1 img. Thanks! Oh, and I agree it's kind of funny that it's called banana. I've seen people before with missing "TOMATO" drivers.2013-12-08 18:53:00

Please no more puns or off topic posts. The OP is just asking for help, not your version of a comedy routine. I deleted the last few posts because it was just uncalled for.

To the OP... Hope you got what you needed. Any more questions, feel free and ask.
